  1. Gentleman of this parish @Merton might lay claim to such a thing
  2. FB is the best way to contact him: https://www.facebook.com/tubentruss/.
  3. I'd recommend Tube N' Truss in Cornwall but Chris might not take it on as he specialises in vintage amps (he did a stellar job on my old Marshall Super Bass, for example). He may be able to recommend someone else in the area though, however I suspect that Cornwall is a bit too far afield from Bristol for you anyway?
  4. I'm assuming the obvious candidate of leaving it plugged in doesn't apply. Might be a wiring/soldering issue. How old is the bass, and is it still within warranty?
  5. Very Bobby Vega-tastic
  6. Ding dong the b*tch is dead though...
  7. He played a bit of bass in the TV series Manchild I believe - I have a distinct memory of seeing him sat on a sofa playing a Precision next to Don Warrington.
  8. A Hazy Shade of Winter - Simon & Garfunkel
  9. It looks like they've been discontinued, so eBay and Reverb are probably your best bet.
  10. Ah, gotcha.
  11. Secondhand Barefaced SuperTwin would seem to fit what you're after
  12. I think it's basically a Jazz neck that says Precision on it from what I can gather.
  13. I'm sure I had *ahem* other interests when I was 13...
  14. When I was a student in the late 90s I saw a 70s Jazz for sale in a second hand shop in Leeds for £750, which was tantalisingly outside the budget I had available to, you know, eat and stuff. It was gorgeous, natural finish and maple board and looked the business, and I was extremely tempted. But other things took priority so I left it on the hanger. If I'd spent the money on that rather than the Marshall half-stack I bought instead (no idea why to this day, but I did make a tidy profit on the amp so it's not all bad news) then I suspect I may have done more with my bass playing over the intervening 20-odd years.
  15. Same, I gave up on piano lessons way too soon at 11 and only decided to get back into music when I was 18 and all my mates were getting guitars so I asked for a bass for my 18th. And then I never took it seriously until I was well into my 40s. So trying to get back into it now is tricky what with life happening at the same time.
  16. Depends on what I'm playing at any given moment - my "sound" is very ephemeral.
  17. Hmmmmmmm. Eyeing this up as a possible post-Christmas present to myself. Just need a larger board to fit it on first though...
  18. I'm not using great headphones to be honest and it just sounds like someone's twanging an elastic band. Will give it a proper listen on some decent ones when I get home.
  19. The 4 ohm Four10s are on the website now:
  20. I'm currently doing it with an ABM and a BF Two10S - can highly recommend this combination.
  21. It might just be the headphones I'm listening on but McCartney's bass just gets buried under the other instruments. Generally good but this aspect is disappointing.
  22. I don't suppose Alex gave any indication about availability, or when they'd be on the website for us to lust after?
  23. Possibly a similar arrangement to the Markbass 103 then?
  24. I believe that if you earn over £1k from it you'll have to declare it. How you declare it is another matter though, you might have to do self-assessment just for the additional income if your main income is dealt with under PAYE. The other question is if you're getting paid in sterling because you're a UK taxpayer, euros because that's where the tour is, or in USD because the artist you're supporting is American, and also where you're getting paid.
