At The Loft in Cleckheaton near Bradford last night. The band have played here before but it has had a change of ownership since last time so instead of being greeted like returning friends we got the usual indifference any other hand would get. Ho hum. We had to provide our own PA and managed to provide the services of a relative of our drummist to do the sound for us and it sounded mint. Despite turning down the volume on the monitor me and our keyboardist shared my ears are still ringing this morning, so possibly time to invest in some hearing protection for next time we're in such a large place. First set wasn't brilliant but went down OK. We all made a few mistakes but nothing too serious. I got distracted by watching a trio of young women dancing enthusiastically at the front and their attempts to fend off the advances of a similar sized group of drunken lads who were trying to pull them. The second set was much better and we had most of the place up and dancing to the end. Plugged my ABM in for the first time since April, DI'd through the PA as well as going through through my Two10S, and it sounded awesome. I'm a bit broken this morning after helping to get all the PA stuff out last night, but a gentle morning of Christmas shopping beckons.

Mine is dominated by tracks I play with the band. I'm seriously thinking of setting up a separate account for that just so it doesn't skew my end of year lists.

I'm guessing to the person who wants that it might be a price worth paying given its supposed rarity, but for those of us in the real world that really is an eye-watering price.

Off to The Loft in the heaving metropolis of Cleckheaton on Saturday. Looking forward to lugging stuff up stairs!

A bass player?

There are different versions of Cakewalk coming too which will probably be paid versions, but if you're willing to tinker with things then the current free version isn't that hard to use as long as you're not doing anything too complicated.

I'm happy to talk to them if they're complimenting me

I suspect someone's been a bit naughty on the old copyright front here.

If you want a free DAW I can highly recomment Cakewalk: https://www.bandlab.com/products/cakewalk?lang=en

I'm assuming that turning down the volume on the bass isn't an option?

Public Liability Insurance for a band
asingardenof replied to Woodinblack's topic in General Discussion
I don't think the band has to be a legal entity as such, as long as the person who organises the insurance is a member of the band and the band always performs under that name, that should do. I'm in no way an expert though. For the sake of pretty low premiums we considered it a no-brainer. We got ours through insure4music. -
Which pub? I've only played at Venue 23 in Wakey before but am actively trying to get more gigs closer to me (most of the band is in Cleckheaton, guitarist and I are in the 5 towns) so any suggestions welcome!

Yeah, I have mine set more or less flat as well, and without the shape button engaged it sounds awesome. Glad you like it!

Barefaced Three10 Teaser: Anybody Know More?

Sounds like the tweeter will be optional on the Three10 as it is with the other 10CR cabs though. -

I have a tendency to come across an artist, binge their stuff, then one day just stop listening to it because I've overindulged. Eventually I'll rediscover them and think "huh, I used to listen to this a lot, maybe I should give it a whirl again". Sometimes that reignites a love for the artist, other times I'd be happy to never hear it again. There aren't many artists in the latter category, thankfully!

If you think you need new strings, get new strings. If you don't, don't. Simples! If I bought a bass secondhand I'd probably stick a new set on there, if nothing else so I could hear what it sounds like with fresh strings as well as used ones.

Yep, been there. Muscle memory is a wonderful thing though! Definitely an argument for taking a second instrument with you to minimise downtime (yes, this site is just full of enablers - enabling one to be a lot poorer for certain) or an opportunity to work on your audience engagement. That's always a good opportunity to introduce the band members, or talk about what song is coming up. Well done on getting out there and having fun, more power to you!
