  1. I've tried getting in there as I live in Cas, but their rates were a bit crap for our five-piece (£200 + a bucket handed round is what they suggested to me). It's a shame as I'd love to have a gig only five minutes down the road.
  2. Indeed. It's like we get it, Jaco did you a solid and gave you the template for a fretless Jazz, but that doesn't mean that every fretless Jazz has to replicate that in some form! I mean, they even managed an unlined fretless Precision in the Tony Franklin signature (which for obvious reasons will always be named the Imprecision in my head).
  3. Playing a 60th birthday bash tomorrow evening. Hoping I haven't forgotten how to play over Christmas...
  4. I don't think Fender have produced quite enough minimally different variations of the Precision and Jazz basses yet, so I think they need to get on that
  5. I've had this in my arsenal for years (the original Talk Talk one though, which is a half step higher than the No Doubt version) - such a fun bassline to play!
  6. Finally buy myself that five-stringer I've been promising myself for years. Ideally a G&L L-2500 Tribute if I can find any outside Japan, otherwise we'll see what's out there when I have funds. Still bemoaning the loss of the Zoot Funkmeister I tried a couple of months ago though.
  7. I would have the G&L, but the problem is there aren't many for sale in the UK so finding one will be tricky compared to the eleventy million Sire basses there are out there.
  8. Having only two basses (for now) I try and rotate them so as to avoid having a favourite. I love them both for different reasons so giving them both a run out seems right.
  9. So it's ripping off its own Phil Lynott model then.
  10. Well that's annoying.
  11. Last gig of the year tomorrow night has been cancelled, but hopefully only postponed, as our guitarist is having health issues. Nothing now until January!
  12. It's a beast of an amp, I love mine. GLWTS!
  13. He's come a long way since doing Gear4Music demo videos...
  14. Current bid is only $5250
  15. The one I go to each room has an Ashdown Mag 500 amp and Ashdown 8x10 cab. Each room we normally rehearse in is about 4m square.
  16. I can vouch for the 4-string version being excellent, and even if I think it sounds nicer with the Sadowsky preamp I've put in it than the stock one, that's not to say the stock one is in any way not good.
  17. Not last night's gig but Saturdays, postponed because our drummist dropped a concrete block on his toe and broke it in three places. Dubious now for next practice at the end of the month, and our final gig of the year in mid-December.
  18. This is a very relevant video on this subject:
  19. If it's free to use you aren't the customer, etc.
  20. Alas, a sudden windfall still eludes me
  21. Everything about this was awesome apart from the camera work which made me feel a bit queasy
  22. Actually really positive and we've two more tunes ready to replace some old safe ones at our next gig in three weeks.
  23. Mr Sapko also seems to have a bee in his bonnet studded cap about Mohini Dey promoting AI tools at the moment.
