Looks More like a Stag do to me. (I'll get my coat!)

All drummers should be listening to the bass, but this isn't always the case. Ours does and I listen to him too as we like to keep a tight rhythm section. Our singer is very aware of the bass too, because if I play a bum note it can throw him off sometimes. I know our guitarist is listening too, well sometimes. I would hope the rest of any band know how important bass is, but as you say it can look like they are focusing on their own performance. Once I was was having some gear problems and had to stop playing whilst the rest carried on. They all found out how important the bass is as the song sounded empty without bass.

Last night we played at the Coach House in Paignton. We were offered this a couple of weeks ago, as the booked band couldn't make it. Sound check was easy as our last gig was here a month ago and the mixer settings hadn't changed. A good turnout for the bank holiday weekend, with a good group up dancing in the 2nd set. A couple of people who had not seen us before came up to chat and tell me how much they enjoyed the gig. Last time here I used my new Squire Precision, which was fun. This time I took my old StingRay. I asked our drummer how it compared to the Squire and he said the StingRay has just such a better sound in his opinion. Next gig isn't until October, so time for some practicing.

I think Charles is fab. I love his humor, particularly his 'If xxx was the hardest song in the world' theme. He had done some amusing skits on classical composers and I've sent links of them to my dad who used to play violin and enjoys classical music. None of us are young. There are a lot of bass YouTubers out there and he is the one I watch most of.

More delicate than the pink oboe!

We were at our favorite venue last night, The Coach House in Paignton. I used my recently purchased Squire Precision which I bought of Andybassdoyle here. It performed well and sounded great. Thumbs up from our drummer too. As usual it went through my RM 500-Evo II and BF 210, with a DI to the PA. We played well and sounded good. Plenty of dancing by some very appreciative people. One of our regulars only just noticed, after years of watching us, the bass line in War Pigs, particularly behind the guitar solo and was suitably impressed. Bit if a break until the next gig, but that gives us time to work on the set as we need a few new songs and our drummer, our son who rejoined us last gig, to learn some some more recent songs of our too.

2 x 1 hour sets is the norm for us.

I do what I can based on the original song. Some parts and keys are easier than others. Our singer will have the final word, but rarely tells me to not do a part.

What if he's in 4 bands!

We got ours from Backdropsource too. Great service, options and prices.

Time to post again in this thread. I recently bought this Squire P Bass on Basschat. It's ready for action at our next gig. Great to get my hands on a nice P bass again, which will be a fun alternative to my regular StingRay.

If you are serious you need to place an advert in the for sale section, which requires a payment, so as to adhere with the forum rules.

2 x 2m for us is fine and works well in all the venues we play so far. We thought about 3m wide but wisely decided not to.

I bought a Squire P Bass from Andy. It was well packaged and dispatched quickly after payment. Good comms throughout. Great seller. Thanks.

Never the Twain shall meet!

Her bass player is Derek Frank, who also plays for Gwen Stefani. Maybe his visa wasn't approved!

All very strange. Is this the setup for all her gigs? Never seen any live footage of her until today.
-
Is the bass a backing track? If so why? Running out of options. Unless the bass player is hidden beneath the huge riser.

Shania Twain. I can hear bass but can't see anyone playing it. Doesn't look like the keys player is playing the bass line.

Well Glastonbury 24 has started. Currently enjoying Paul Heaton, with Norman Cook guesting on bass for Happy Hour.

A few weeks ago our drummer (#4) gave his notice and then was unable to play last night's gig. Luckily our son ,drummer #3, who used to play with us decided to rejoin the band and was able to do last night's gig. We had to tweak the set list to suit him, which is fine as he had depped for us few times. It was good to have him back as he is our favorite drummer out of the 4 we have had. We played well and sounded great. A couple of songs in and our singer tells he can't hear my BV's, so I check my mic and hadn't turned it on! Next song for me is much later. I didn't realise as I can't hear myself in the monitors anyway because of earplugs. We are looking forward to our next gig in a months time and our son will learn a couple of new songs for him.
