1.
OK, I've got a brand new, boxed and unused Bass Pod XT, which I'd like to trade for a Valve Tone box like a Sansamp or similar - I've got the Behringer BDI21, and it's the only sound I need, I just want something a little more upmarket build-wise. Does this butter anyone's parsnips? M
Floor or rack? Edit: To clarify - is the Bass Pod XT a floor pedal box or a rack mounting unit? Cheers, John
 2.
last call, befor it goes on ebay at weekend, you know you want it cus it goes weeoowwweeooweeoo !
How's it go?
 3. Great guy to deal with I agreed to buy a case from jay & he held onto it for me until my o/h could meet up & do the deal. Thanks for all that jay, meeting Kaz as arranged & on time, I haven't got my hands on the case yet but I'm told it's just like new exactly as described. It was a pleasure to do business with - sorry I couldn't meet you in person - maybe next time Cheers, John
 4. That's real purrrdy Tom - I'd love to but I know these necks are a bit narrow for my huge mitts! Looks good to go at that price  Cheers, John
 5.
don't see why you'd have any problem with it.
That's what I thought - it's only the price stopping me It would be good to hear if someone here has tried one? Cheers, John
 6.
I also can't hear bugger all bass, however in a small fraction of that song when the rest of the band is observing a very short STFU pause I could hear some kind of P bass with a bit of flanger, but for the rest, the youtube quality of it is bad and doesn't come through clearly.
Glad it's not just me
 7.
So where do I go? To the best place on Earth. BassChat!! This is one of my favourite new bands.. they are a newly formed Supergroup. Probably not well known yet as they are a pretty underground style, but I really would love to know what Bass Effect anybody would say the bass uses in parts of this song.. Im thinking some sort of OD but im not too sure. Wondering if I can get a really similar sound through my Sansamp Driver.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_eTw57EBe-o heres a link.
Sorry I could only stand 1 minute of that clip & TBH don't think I could hear any bass, or is that the *empty* bit?

 9.
Hello! I know there are lots of folks here who know their stuff, so I was wondering if anybody could provide me with any information about my TE 7215 combo. Serial Number: 70468.306.200 Model Number: 7215-7 Does the 200 mean it was made in 2000? Any other interesting bits of information anybody can provide about my amp's place in TE history? I don't know very much about this stuff. Ah, one other question, I'm in the process of selling it (issue of space and money ), is 300 quid a reasonable asking price? Apart from a few scuffs it's in excellent condition and has never needed any repairs. I bought it secondhand myself about four or five years ago but I know the original seller very well and it had never needed any maintenance. Cheers folks!
Send them a email Trace Elliot I found they were really helpful. Cheers, John

 11.
Check out this demo of the Line6 Verbzilla on bass. The Octo mode is especially glorious! http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseacti...ideoID=10323439 The EHX Bass Big Muff is an ideal fuzz to start with. Best bang for buck out there. I see you have the Ashdown Little Bastard - it would be awesome if you could post a review or even some recorded clips of what it sounds like cranked! :brow:
Cheers Dan, the myspace link doesn't seem to work for me? Thanks for the Big Muff recommendation, I'm still liking the look of your DHA I have no idea where to start recording clips from my LB, but trust me - it sounds exactly how an all tube bass amp should, exceedingly good! Seriously exactly what I hoped for, best sounds of all with my Frank Bello = no tone controls on the guitar just straight from the 1/4 lb pups (via volume pots) - absolutely brilliant! As for 'cranking it up' I'm thinking - July 4th, in my garden - bass version of Hendrix's Star spangled banner? (Woodstock '69) The neighbours love me really + I can keep my pies warm on top
 12. This Looks GREAT! BUT - is it any good for bass?
 13. Cheers Bassnut62, no disappointment - thanks for sharing your opinion. I'm not impressed with the Boss stuff at all from what I've seen & heard so far. I'm loving the cry baby, thinking about a fuzz now + a reverb is still on the wants list - addictive ain't it!
 14.
Bridged at 100w... Shirley not!
I'm sure I *bridged* her sister Long time ago tho
 15.
P bass, flatwounds and a tube amp. A match made in heaven IMO.
Oh YES + 100%
 16. Sold a speaker lead to Paul, spot on communication & payment, great guy to deal with. Cheers, John
 17.
Hmm seems to make sense then! i have a 12v amp but its mainly for a guitar as it sounds like a chorus of farts with a bass running through it! so is it possible with a different type of inverter then?
chorus of farts That sounds like the exact fx pedal I'm looking for Maybe - but you can bet your last peanut a 'audio friendly' inverter ain't gonna come cheap
 18. Probably because the inverter ain't got a lot of smoothing 'if any' on the output so you're getting a ton of 50Hz'ish' hum. Pretty sure the inverter won't be rated suitable for audio devices. What you need is a amp that runs on 12VDC
 19.
'Reet, I'm after some advice regarding my Fender Aerodyne Jazz Bass. After joining a new band i'm changing from Standard E Tuning to a C-G-C-F Tuning. I pretty much want the bass sounding as good as it did in standard tuning, what i want to know is.. · What gauge and type of stings i should be going for to make playing it "less wobbly" · Would replacing the bridge or nuts be of any benefit? And being that im based just outside of Glasgow, would like any recommendations of places i can have any work done. Cheers Geo
Do you really want that low C? I leave my Skjold tuned DGCF these days, it's so smoooooooooth to play BTW it's 35" scale strung with GHS 3060 black nylons. I suppose if you find it a bit 'wobbly' just ease off with the plucking maybe? That bottom C is too low for a lot of strings without perhaps going to a B from a five set, or at least something like a 115/120 which will probably mean opening up the nut to take it, or fit a new nut. The truss rod will probably need relaxing a flat or two. The bridge should be fine, it'll just need the intonation & height setup to match the strings you end up with, after setting the truss rod. I can't help you regarding where to get the work done, I'm way down South You don't say what sort of strings you would like to use, round or flat for starters? Cheers, John
 20.
To Lojo I definately enjoy myself playing this bass It's just such a fantastic bass to play and definately the best Fender Bass I've played. The jazz profile neck on it is beautiful
Hey Grand! That'a a good looking P alright & I'm sure it sounds great. Your reference to 'The Jazz profile neck' made me wonder so I looked up Fender's spec, they don't give a 'shape' but they state 1.75" 44.5mm at nut - that's pretty big even for a P neck! Is that what it measures? Just comparing it to my Frank Bello at 1.625"/41.3mm Cheers, John
 21.
Hi I can't seem to find Stuart Hamm's version of Beethovens Moonlight Sonata on youtube - can anyone please link me? I heard it briefly today on a mates mp3 player and thought it was amazing.
I dunno what you were putting in a search but these came up for me: http://www.youtube.com/results?search_quer...sonata&aq=f I ain't looked through them 'cos it ain't my bag Cheers, John
 22. Great guy to deal with, I sold some strings to silentbob, easy to deal with - good communication & instant payment. Cheers, John
 23.
My first topic on here,so Hello all. Being more familiar with Upright bass,I do play bass guitar and just got a spare set of strings for my 51 Precision . I bought long scale ,but the binding at the nut end reaches the first fret. What scale length is the Precision? Is there Extra Long Scale?
It sounds like you've got a wrong set, (could be medium scale strings), in the packet! My '51 P measures just about 32" from (Hipshot) bridge to fret #1, that's what length an average set of medium scale strings would be. What make/model strings are they? There are XL strings, usually quoted for up to 36" scale but you don't need them for a Precision. Typical manufacturers chart: Cheers, John
