1.
I think the Fender stainless flats still have green silks today.
Yep they do New style packet, but the strings remain the same Edit: Pics - Fender new & old packs + LaBella 1954's I didn't like the new MLs at first, but as it was nearly St Paddy's day I left them on now they're *run-in* they're pretty good for the price, a lot less £ than LaBella 1954 Oldies - which BTW I've not fitted 'cos they feel "as ruff as a badgers chuff" I expect they'd be ok after a week or 3, saving them as a spare set.
  2. Brand new bridge cover for P bass '51 P/N 0032979000 genuine Fender was a bargain $13.99 + postage from the states. It won't fit on mine sensibly 'cos it's got a Hipshot bridge, which is wider than normal & closer to bottom edge. [s]£12 + £3 P&P PayPal OK, cheque or cash[/s] Cheers, John SOLD, PAID & POSTED - Thanks
  3. Has anybody tried the Boss RV-5 Digital Reverb?
  4.
If you don't mind spending a little extra, check out the Wilson wahs. I'm gassing for one. http://www.wilsoneffects.com/BassWahs.html
They look good - bit more than I wanted to pay though - just scored a Dunlop 105q for £51 so wah'll see
  5.
pots shouldn't really ever fail unless you do something stupid. I always used alpha pots and i've never had a problem with one even when i've set them on fire.
You've set pots on fire that must take some seriously fast knob twiddling
  6.
Forget Expense Now Deliberate on Eventual Return
Hey - you do know that's a Mullet you're playing - not a Bass don't you? F'ing Ev nd Expensive Right-tho! Cheers, John
  7.
in terms of wahs there are a few discussions already underway about which on is best. they normally come down to three mass market pedals ( Dunlop 105q, Morley models, and Ibanez weeping demon) plus boutique options (Wilson, MSD etc.) Realistically, there are tons of video reviews on youtube if trying these out is a problem For reverb, i've had some great results with the marshall reflector. It retails at less than most of the competition, yet still sounds great! I'm sure others will add their opinions too, but i hope this helps. PS - Can i have a go on your bass?
[sup]NO![/sup] Mmmmm - maybe if I can borrow your talent boost control?
I changed my Weeping Demon WD7 for a Dunlop 105Q last year and really like the relative simplicity. The WD7 did too much. All I wanted was a wah. The 105Q does just that.
Sounds like my sort of pedal, that'll do me too!
+1 Dunlop 105Q and +1 Marshall Reflector. Both sit happily on my pedalboard. Great pedals.
2 votes for the Marshall so I presume it works well with bass then, can't see any mention of bass in the specs. Cheers all.
  8. Only fancy these 2 but would like to know what's good? Help please!
  9.
It's the cutest little thing ever! I would have bought this off you days ago if I had the room for ANY amps but the mini hifi for practice. Any chance you can keep it for 18 months till i get my own place? :-) Have a bump, get it sold and stop tempting me.
Cheers - but I need the space new rig arriving Tuesday!

  11.
I'm thinking about maybe changing the stock pickup in my Fender 51 RI P. Just wondered if anyone had any experience of or thoughts on the various replacements that are available - Seymour Duncan, Nordstrand, Lindy Fralin ...?? The Fralin's come in several guises - single coil, split coil, overwound. What sort of tonal differences do these make?
My '51 came already modded with a Seymour Duncan Bass Lines SCPB-2 :- http://www.seymourduncan.com/products/bass...cpb2_hot_for_s/ I've got the original pup with but have never tried it so can't say how they compare, haven't tried Fralin or Nordstrand either. No complaints about it, no reason to change, it's set about 2mm from E & G strings held down at fret 20, gives plenty of output with good balance across all strings. I'm using GHS Black Nylon 3060's, play almost 100% fingers & getting a real deep down P bass thump - beautiful! I think it retains the true P bass tones which is how I want it, don't know how the others change the sound. HTH, Cheers, John
  12. I'm well chuffed to say that my order is now confirmed for delivery next week & it's going to something special! Watch this space!
  13.
what? Is the amp an OTL design or something? i thought it used a quad of el84's
I'm not sure what OTL design is? Just received in email from Ashdown:"the lb puts out full power at 8 or 4" though, so I'm happy

Somebody buy it quick - don't drag it out!!!!
If I could even imagine playing a fiver - I'd be looking at getting a young brother for my EC4 Good luck with the sale, they are truly superb basses, mine's a 100% keeper No King TUT Cheers, John
  16. Hi Tom, My understanding is to fit a BadAss bridge on a Aerodyne the radius/carved body needs routing to fit it proper like? So taking it off to sell/trade seems strange? Why? Look forward to pics
Right, brought this about a year and a half ago. Great bass. Loved every minute of owning it and will be sad to see it go. But I'm after some thing else. The bass is in great condition. Not one mark on it. Frets and fret board in 100% condition. Neat review The neck dive could be the least of your problems - if you keep leaning it against the wall - as in your photo, you might one day find out how easy these seem to snap the head off when they hit the floor! Do yourself a favour - when you get a few £ to spare - get a stand & use it (If you don't mind some friendly advice like ) Cheers, John

  23. I didn't even realise it was that long ago - let alone remember what was my first but I think Diamonds, Jet Harris & Tony Meeham did it for me along with loads of the early Shadows stuff, IIRC
