1.
Maybe if you contacted Herbie he'd let you take as many pics as you liked while you're examining his bass in every detail and taking measurements.
Cheers, do you have a contact? I have measurements/templates etc from an original 1960, just need more pix of the wear really, tho have got most of it covered.
2. Hi all, I'm currently in the process of making a replica of the famous 59 Herbie Flowers jazz bass. I'm trying to get hold of as many hi res images of the bass as possible. If anybody has any I could use it would be much appreciated BTW I already have the Curtis Novak images. thanks guys Wes
3. It all really depends what side of pro playing you want to get into...Don't think that being young and not an amazing player will hinder you massively in-fact you can use it to your advantage. I've spent about 4 1/2 years playing for major label pop acts and I am no great player. I have been playing a fair while now but I have never wanted to be technically brilliant, I pretty much just play roots and chuck in 3rds, 5ths and octaves if asked to make it a bit more interesting. Just get loads of practice with a metronome and get your timing spot on. Look out for auditions on sites such as starnow.co.uk and ukmusicjobs.co.uk as they appear on there for decent projects every now and then and try and meet as many people in the industry as possible. This was how I landed my gigs. Just rememebr with this kind of thing that less is more so if they send you a track to play at the audition just learn it as you hear it and maybe work out a couple things to chuck in if they ask you to spice it up a little but generally stick to the simple stuff! Also might want to note that chasing invoices can be a bit of a job in itself tho with the bigger labels so its always good to have a part time flexible job too alongside to cover yourself till the cheque finally comes!
4. some of it doesn't look half bad to be fair! You can tell they are copies but they are going to a lot off effort here for virtually peanuts! Theres a gold top Les paul VOS which looks pretty good! still a bit naughty tho!
5.
Ritter are bolt-on-only.
he's done a few one pice basses too which are pretty cool, though I'd be a bit worried about movement personally!
6. beautiful! May I ask why its being moved on so quickly?
7. Im making a ramp for Andre at the moment for this. The bass is absoltely stunning and this is a great price. The 'offending areas' of the finish really arent that noticable to the naked eye and it doesn't detract from the quality of the bass at all.
8. Nice one chris! Send me soem pix when you get it!
9.

hahaha
10. that looks cool! I think this one was on GBase some time ago and the description said that it had had some corrosive liquid spilt on it at somepoint...might be a different one to this but looks very similar.
11. lemon oil or warwick finishing wax will darken it off a bit..its quite difficult though due to the close grain of the ebony.
12. I miss this already!
13.
maybe I've already asked the same question in the past, but I'm not sure,so How much is the width at the nut?
It's 40mm at the nut.
14. Hi mate. there is a slightl gap either side of the neck due to the jazz being thinner in width but it;s nothing too drastic. the 68 - early 70;s ones tended to be a bit skinnier than the early 60;s in width too so if you have a 60;s spec neck you should have hardly any gap
15. thanks for the kind words Neil! I'm so glad that you love it as much as I do! truley awesome bass, I got to rehearse with it before it went out with my country rock band and it really does cut through the perfect amount. especially against 2 very loud guitarists! play by the neck and you have that old school p bass thump, play just behind the pickup and it cuts through in an almost jazz like way. cheers Wes
16.
I've now got a recording of this bass, but I haven't heard it yet (laptop has faulty audio). Will listen later this night.
please post this!
17. the back looks look an unfinished plasterboard wall!
18. from the second i saw this bass i fell for it hook line and sinker!
19.
I checked out the the serial on the various sites and this starts with a 'T' which makes it a Tribute bass.
I have another one sitting in front of me right now. It does have a T serial number..all of the american artist models have the T serial. They retail at about £1450. As I said before people call it the tribute or artist model. either way its the same bass (there is no inbetween odel)and not to be confused with the CS model. Good luck with your sale mate.
20. Having worked in the music retail business for a long time delaing with Fender and fender Custom shop I can confirm that the bass is infact an Artist series American Fender Jaco bass. there are the tribute custom shop versions with the heavy relic treatment http://www.fender.com/customshop/instrumen...rtno=0196108800 I think that the Artist series gets called a tribute bass quite a lot though as I have heard this used many times before. Im sure that your bass is great however and you should be able to get between £550 - £700 for it.
21. Don't worry Chris I'll see if i can rustle up another one for you sometime...colour preference? haha
22. Bass now sold!! Thanks for all of the lovely comments people!
23. I wish I was all kinds of GAS free!
24. your hijack has been approved Chris! had a few people interested so if you are liking this I don't think it will hang around long!
25.
Too cheap by several hundred quid if you ask me C
Some one can grab themselves a bargain I know vintage Fender stuff is out of most peoples reach right now and i would rather someone on here have the bass at an affordable price that it go to some overpriced vintage ebay parts dealer who will rip it apart to sell everything off seperately!
