  1. There's one band very big at the moment that this really applies to -Wet Leg. Couple of young women, their lyrical content is so inappropriate for us old farts and yet they are a fantastic act.
  2. I'm hoping it's Dixieland Jazz to really set those titles off.
  3. Kirsty Macoll' s brilliant malapropism:
  4. Ezra Collective, Jazz Hip-Hop, 6Mysic (again).
  5. Good call!
  6. My first suggestion, Fantastic Negrito. Heard on Later, and Craig Charles, 6Music.
  7. OK, I was thinking about doing this recently, but now it is directly in response to @DTBand his request where to find new music. A couple of suggestions, not rules; under 5 years old, where you first heard it, and an idea of genre would be good. PLEASE put the artist name in the post so the thread can be searched at a later date.
  8. Don't quite know what your definition of modern music is, but current music there is some great stuff being made. First Aid Kit - Swedish harmony duo, touch of Country, but more leaning towards melodic pop. Michael Kiwanuka - old school Soul with some very modern twists, Ezra Collective - funky Jazz, Little Simz - Hip Hop meets old James Bond theme music, Christine & the Queen's - don't know how to categorise but melodic, electronic dance, pop etc. I'm 59 and loving more new music in the last couple of years than I have for ages. Give BBC 6 Music a try.
  9. There is a huge thread on compression on here. I think it was @51m0n who posted a fairly full on guide to the art. Hopefully if it was he can provide a link, if not, sorry for tagging you!
  10. The semi hollow would also remove another (to me) problem in that the body is too thin.
  11. Great video, really well edited. And yes, @niloriusit does indeed sound like a very nice guitar!
  12. It's a bit fizzy and only good for pop 😏
  13. Give that to your drummer and start introducing 80s ballads to your set 😎
  14. That's quite poor, none of the usual sites (All music, Discogs) have any additional muso credits. Al Jackson Jr and Booker T have producer credits, so I ' d guess it was Al on drums, Booker T on keys and Donald Duck Dunn on bass. They were the house band on a lot of Stax recordings.
  15. Hello neighbour!
  16. And we wonder why there aren't many good music shops left.
  17. Try Lewis at LT Guitars - a great builder based in Burgess Hill. [email protected]
  18. Gibson were once positioning the Les Paul as the third iconic American brand after HD and JD. They were marketing them to be hung on walls rather than to be played. Very sad state of affairs in my mind.
  19. I've got myself locked out of Facebook so can't ask her, but I think Italian blues artist Eliana Carlegnutti may be among them.
  20. I'm sure one of the speaker experts on here will correct me if I'm wrong, but my back of an envelope calculation shows that the surface area of the PJ cabs is very small - a couple of 112s will be significantly larger and give you a lot more movement of air.
  21. Have you heard your rig from the same distance that you have heard other bands' rigs? It could well sound very different when you are not next to it.
  22. Funnily enough, I was thinking it was time to change the title of the thread.
  23. I thought this was going to be a post about trying to resist buying more pickups, but then saw who the OP was and realised that was highly unlikely 😎
  24. In complete agreement with both parts of this post. Mine was two blues-rock bands, and a rock & roll band. I wasn't even on the CD that I was signing for two out of three! And the last thing I want when buying a CD to support a band at a gig, or a friend's band is for them to sign it.
