1.
I have mine clipped to the back of the headstock so you can't see much of it from the front anyway.
Ah, brains as well as talent! I'll have to try that out - I really ought to tune more than once a month
 2.
Switched off, yes. Mainly because if I take it off and put it down at a gig I'll never find it again.
Hadn't thought of that side of things, and yes, can see that being a big problem (I've lost count of the number of plug in ones I've lost). Reason I asked is that it just doesn't seem right to me - way too modern and hi-tech for my taste!
 3. Do those of you that use clip on tuners leave them on while gigging?
 4. Only reason for Basswood being cheaper, and therefore seen as inferior to alder and ash is that it is very plain and boring, so is only really suitable for solid colour finishes. It is used on many great instruments.
 5.
Come on Eilean Denys midnight runners. First ever single I bought!
I think even by the OP's generous rules this one can't qualify - five or so hits and one classic album Searching for the Young Soul Rebels. Great album. And who can forget the classic balls up at Top of the Pops where they performed Jackie Wilson Said under a huge projection of the darts player Jockey Wilson
 6.
Grandma......The bloody St Winnies School Choir.
And of course Grandad by Clive Dunn, written by Herbie Flowers. Oh well, I guess we can forgive Herbie for one aberration
 7.
Every track I know on here I adore! Except Brilliant Mind by Furniture - my first band shared a bill with them once at the Moonlight Club and ended up with the ****ty end of the stick. Actually, the song's not half bad. But I still hate 'em after 36 years. What a sad b@stard I am!
Oops, sorry about that Michael, but that really surprises me. In my past dealings with Jim Irvin I found him absolutely charming.
 8.
Echo Beach - Martha & The Muffins
Funny, until today I thought I was pretty much on my own with this one, but it seems to have quite a bit of love on this thread
 9. Martha & the Muffins - Echo Beach Furniture - Brilliant Mind
 10. ^ This. Thanks for updating Biglump
 11. Don't really have any - my only no-no in the other thread was photo-flame, so I'm pretty open minded. I personally think it comes down to the individual bass - some spalted finishes look great, some look completely wrong, don't really like many single cuts, but have seen some I really like. If I were to commission a second bass I think the only main stipulation would be for it to be significantly different to my existing one.
 12.
Good grief! A Brickenbacker...
13. Yes, great tune - and possibly Trigger's finest hour

 15. Photo-flame That's about it really!
 16. Alice Cooper Hammersmith Odeon early 2000's. Couldn't hear the gig, just a wall of white noise. Ears were ringing that night and the next one. Really thought I'd done some serious damage so have worn plugs to gigs ever since.
 17. 41 years of playing, off and on, and a month ago finally wrote my first song, followed two weeks later by my second. Both sound pretty good and we'll be doing a cheap recording of them next week. Still haven't had that big gig/support/festival date, but this little achievement has certainly been a big boost to my playing morale!
 18. I'm no collector, but I would have thought with its pedigree that would be one of the most collectable basses around, so, relatively, well worth the price.
 19.
Or CDs, that's what I meant, it's what my friend had. Though it looked like an old fashioned real thing .
Although said very much in jest, there is something about the way old 45's were mastered and pressed that suited the jukebox. I still don't really like listening to old Atlantic and Stax music on CD as I feel they were created to sound at their best on a far less perfect piece of equipment. Oh, and my first job out of school was in jukebox record distribution, including bashing out the larger holes in the records - thousands of the things, all done manually!
 20. If the shop isn't too much help try here: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/277468-bcers-prepared-to-help-fix-a-bass/ for someone local to you. Be nice to see this new initiative getting used
 21.
Sorry to dig up an old thread, I was just wondering about Foderas and came across this, so when there's guys selling Stingrays for £700 in the marketplace and Maruszczyk are putting out amazing customs below £1000 why do people buy Foderas? Is anyone using a Fodera at a paid gig, like theatre work or functions? I'm not against custom basses, but I play in a function band so my Sandberg and Musicman seem perfect for me, so I'm really interested to see if any other working musicians are using really expensive or custom stuff.
Oteil Burbidge (Allman Brothers Band, and now some Grateful Dead line-up) uses one, so not one of your super elite, or soloist types, just a regular, gigging US session player.
 22. Three of the biggest music law firms Clintons, Harbottle & Lewis and Sheridans. The lady I used to know at Harbottle & Lewis seems to have either moved, or, highly probably, retired. Sheridans were the firm that I used the most, but for all three of these we are talking crazy money (probably £3-5,000 for a straightforward contract negotiation).
 23.
I bought a jukebox, so a I listen to my CD's on that.
No, a real one would play 7" singles
A real one ? I knew someone who had one in his music room. The first thing you saw when you went into his flat was pinball machine in the entrance hall, it looked very cool.
24. I love listening to vinyl via separates and speakers but don't get enough chance to do so. My son has recently bought some rather superior (AKG) headphones, and I was seriously impressed with the sound, so may be investing in the near future.
 25.
Exactly - that confirms my point, doesn't it?
I thought it contradicted your point? edit - if this looks a little confrontational it isn't intended that way!
