1. Bought an M87 compressor from Alex yesterday. Arrived First Class Special Delivery this mornning. Exactly as described and appears to be working fine. I would happily deal with him again.
2. Yes, Music Store in Cologne have had them around for a while, in White and Marley Blue....
3. I've picked up the MXR for sale on here, so will see how that goes....
4.
I'd also consider heavier strings for the D and G as a first option... Worth asking Joe V if he has any thoughts...or could help source some custom string gauges?
Not really an option sadly, as the strings are La Bella black nylon, so already a heavy gauge, and they are a custom length because of the bridge/tailpiece arrangement.
I have the same thing with my G and C strings on the Artist as it also has a piezo pickup. A little LIGHT compression helps to "lower" the volume of the other strings to balance out the sound. This will also add punch and clarity to the overall sound. The MXR would be my choice over the Origin.
Yep, I think it's more about reducing the energy of the lower strings rather than beefing up the higher ones. The MXR looks like a good shout.
5. Hi guys Thanks for the comments. I am familiar with the pickup height as a possible solution, but know it won't work on this bass, as it has both mag and piezo pickups and the D and G strings are weak whichever pickup I use. The Origin looks huge! I am liking the MXR as a smaller option and it seems to have a pretty comprehensive feature set. Cheers Gareth
6.
There's 1 set of 4's & 3 sets of 5's in stock. I really like them I must admit. Zap me a message either here or via the shop mail address & I'll confirm the discount deal
Thank you very much sir!!!
7. So, sometimes playing live I have noticed that my Veillette's D and G strings get lost. Would I be right in thinking that compression is a good way to even up the string output? If so, can anyone recommend a decent pedal to get? I have been very impressed by the Empress pedals I have, and their Compressor looks the biz, but they are i) hard to find in the UK ii) expensive. Would a Markbass COmpressore be a good shout, EBS Multicomp, Aguilar TLC? Oh yes, and meant to say it may well be a case of reducing the "energy" of the B, E and A strings a touch, rather than boosting the D and G per se. Cheers Gareth
8.
Have you tried the Carvin flats? Made by La Bella but cheaper than La Bella branded ones and in very basic packaging. I hear a friendly UK retailer is about to offer a really good discount on them for all Basschatters (PM me for details).
I'll be wanting a set Barrie.
9.
I fancy one of those para EQs, but its a bit massive.
it's not that big, and it works so well! I don't think you'd ever need any more tone shaping that this thing is capable of.
10.
Nice, how you finding the fuzz?
It's good. Probably more than I need tbh, but as long as I keep the gain below 9 o'clock I get just the right amount of grit that I like
11. Hi Nik If under 40lb is light enough, and you'd like a mint one of these with Roqsolid cover, give me a shout. Great stand alone cab and goes loud. I have two and one is more than enough. Cheers Gareth
12. Hi Nik The best passive 5 string bass Fender ever made, no doubt. I had one and the B string was amazing. I'd buy it if I could justify it, but whoever gets it will end up with a tone monster! Cheers Gareth
13. Here's the CTM30!
14.
It also comes with a set of four Brimar CV4005 NOS power valves complete with the necessary adaptors that the guy who sold it to me included as possible alternatives to the power valves in it. I haven't tried them.
I'I miss mine so am quite tempted, but what's the deal with these Brimars? Do you have any more information about whether the previous owner used them, and why he didn't just stick with the EL84s?
15. Pretty sure I did a quick chord chart for this a while back. Will check when I get home tonight.
16. Brand new and boxed, just a little more distortion available than I need! £149 new in the UK, yours for £129 posted 2nd Class Recorded. No trades thanks.
17.
Lol ok thanks. Yeah, I sold mine, but could do with one again.
I can only just everything on the Mini I bought instead... new I should'nt have added a Fuzz pedal!
18.
Gareth do you want to sell me your nano?
Already sold it on to Tayste, sorry.
19. Yeah baby!
20. I am tempted to get one of these as a back up as well. Will be interested to hear your thoughts.....
21.
Dibs for when this one is also too small
22. I think the first option should always be to contact the seller. In my dealings with him, Mark has always come across as a decent guy, and I am sure he'll do what he can to get it sorted.
23. I believe the Sale of Goods Act applies for used items as well as new?
24. Have you voiced your concerns to Mark? Sounds like a warranty return to me....
