1. Sansamp sold on ebay for £142. Not bad pricing! Hardwire still available.
2. Looks damn good, even for an Epi. How does it play/sound?
3. Gibson Nighthawk?
4. I used a Sansamp then an MXR, will this do the same job of going into the front of an amp and acting as a pre-amp?
5. Do not buy the Behringer aluminium cone bass cabs. They are apalling quality. I usually try and give a balanced opinion on stuff but you'd have to give me one for free before I took it and then I'd instantly remove and bin the speakers. I owned a 1*15 and a 2*10 and every single speaker broke within a couple of weeks of reasonable use and the last one blew, taking my amp head with it.
6. Great bassist but all I can think of is Alan Partridge dancing around his static home to 'Music for Chameleons' when I see his name mentioned.
7. Studio Electronics SE2000 seems to be a decent, if not outstanding all rounder. Reviews online are very positive and you can pick them up pretty cheap. I got mine 2nd hand for a bargainous £40.
8.
£90? I got one of the plain heavy duty cotton/suede ones for a tenner! It was this exact one - http://www.thomann.de/gb/levys_mssc8_blk_gitarrengurt.htm
I use a blonde one of those, goes well with my blonde Warwick. I think the 1st strap I ever got was a cheap Levys and now own a few on various guitars. Still got my first one, they've lasted for ages and for abot £12 you can't go wrong. Halfords do seatbelt cushion pads that would fit guitar straps for about £2-3. Beats spending silly money on straps.
9. Thanks for the advice, he's given it a miss and picked up a Laney PB400 in the meantime to tide him over while he looks for something better. I've told him to keep an eye on the for sale section on here. I had a look myself and now have serious GAS issues.
10. I can't afford it but by god I want it.
11. Sorry to be a killjoy but for a friends wedding back in April we had a band with 3 basschatters in, me, Finbar and Pliskin. Good luck with the gig anyway!
12. Nor would I. There's a nice spalted maple one on e-bay at the moment, lets see how the MOT goes on Thursday....
13. Other microphones are available!
14. They seem ridiculously cheap! What's the catch?
15. Very nice! How much did it set you back if you don't mind me asking?
16. Re-post from a friend on a different board:- "My bass amp died in a puff of smoke and dead transistor last week. In a perfect world I'd grab an early 70s Ampeg SVT but with my meagre resources that's not going to happen. However, I need a good loud bass amp (preferably valve) and stumbled across this, anyone had any experiences (good/ bad/ indifferent) of the Ashton (Australia) BV300 head? I only know that Ashton make cheapo guitars. The name put me off a bit but the amp is 300 watts (6 x KT88s) of valves for £300! I'm very tempted but would appreciate any info." Thanks peeps.
17.
What's the differences between the deluxe and the normal programmable BDDI?
The deluxe can take 2 basses with 3 channels each or 6 for 1 bass. It also has a parallel/tuner out and a switchable FX loop. Otherwise, they're the same.
18. Shameless plug but mine is for sale on ebay at the moment and is the deluxe version. You can bypass the tone with a single click and it's pretty clean as stated. It does low gain dirt very well but the high gain tones aren't great unless the blend control is pretty low.
19. Sansamp now on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sansamp-Programmable-BDDI-Deluxe-bass-DI-pedal-/120781205167?pt=UK_Guitar_Accessories&hash=item1c1f1eeeaf
20. I want the phaser as I believe it's the one used in 'Luminance' by Cave In. Love the phaser sound in that song.
21.
Any bass amp/combo will do. You don't have to worry about feedback with an EUB so you can use a 8x10 if you like.
I had some feedback with the Harley Benton due to the large semi hollow body and the amp on the floor aiming straight at it, I don't think the Stagg will have the same problem due to the construction. But yeah, any normal bass amp will do fine and th HB should meet your needs.
22. Bumpzorz. Again, offers considered.
23. It's the first one I borrowed and played, it was playable and a decent introduction to the world of electric uprights. One problem was with the bridge producing strange and nasty sounding harmonics on certain notes (1st E on the A string) that was easily solved by wedging a jumper under the bridge, although a tennis ball or similar works fine, stays in place better and is a little neater. After that, it was ready to go and I recorded a few tracks with it. The rubber strip is another modification and I believe sits between the bridge and the pickup to produce a more DB sound but isn't essential. In all, I'd recommend them for a beginner looking to try an EUB, especially if you can pick one up cheap.
24. The prototype surely just needs sketching out, breadboarding and tweaking? Even with the specialist parts and custom circuit boards it presumably needs, unlike a fuzz where a handful of components and some perf/stripboard can build you a circuit, 20 grand seems like a lot. But then I'm not a businessman. Maybe Devi Ever needs to hit Dragons Den.
25.
I was just pissing about, I'm sure it's patented, it's a good idea but the price point is ridiculous.
Yeah, not really sure what 20k gets you. You can either make the pedal or you can't and circuit boards can't cost that much can they?
