If memory serves, Wilkes were among the first to offer them in any number. I've never seen a Jaydee with them, apart from that sale one! They're not an over the counter one-size-fits-all thing... have a word with your friendly neighbourhood luthier. They won't stop [u]all[/u] damage to a fretless, you'll still get normal string wear along the board, but it will stop the end of the board getting knackered from smacking the string against it. And it will add the slap's percussive element that you get from a fretted bass.

I've had my Comfort Strapppp for about 10 years now. Fabulously comfortable, even with 10lbs of Wal hanging off it. If I ever need to get a replacement, I shall buy another Comfort Strapppppp without hesitation. And I don't care how it looks.

[*]You should get a good idea of his feel fairly quickly -- when he puts in a fill, go with it if you can, it sounds wicked and can work really well. [*]Befriend him, buy him beer, make sure he reciprocates [*]Enjoy. [/list]There are few things better or more satisfying than playing with a good drummer. A good rhythm section will make an average band sound great, but a sloppy rhythm section will make even the best band suck. EDIT: just read through. +1 for following the drummer, if the guitard goes wrong then that's his lookout. Keep the rhythm section solid.

John Giblin is a fretless god. My favourite JG bassline is on "Family Business", from the Fish album "Vigil In A Wilderness Of Mirrors". Utterly fabulous, spine-tingly stuff. Brand X's "April" is a corker too.

Glad you've got your dosh back and a favourable result. BUT. I feel uneasy about the whole idea of eBay telling you to keep the bass. You're getting a full refund, and yes he should be paying all postage costs and so on, there's no way you should be out of pocket, but for eBay to deprive the guy of his property?
