1. I was going to respond to this -- especially after being told not to say another word -- but I've realised life is too short. So there you go, the last word on the subject was yours. Hope it makes you happy. Many years ago I was in a blues rock trio and we played a lot of pubs etc. Our set consisted of all the sort of stuff you'd expect from a blues rock trio -- lots of Hendrix, some Gary Moore, early ZZ, some Rory & SRV. We surprised people with a Dream Theater tune and Comfortably Numb, but aside from that it was standard fare. We didn't mind, and neither did the punters.
 2.
So unless someone specifically addresses a comment toward me or they quote a previous post of mine I am not allowed to respond ?
Where, precisely, did I or anyone else say that?
As for your interpretation of what he meant, if you're not going to share it then how can anyone even be interested, never mind respond.
I would share my interpretation if I wanted. I didn't ask you to respond it, and I couldn't give a monkeys if you're interested in it or not.
And I responded to his assertion that people who play in standard covers band put no thought or effort into what they do and he hasn't responded but you did.
Well with the best will in the world, I'm not a mindreader so I can't tell you exactly what he meant. As I said, I've got my own interpretation and it is precisely that -- mine. As far as I am aware, I'm under no obligation to voice it. Still can't work out why you're so defensive about it, especially when nobody else seems to have taken the same umbrage. Totally bored with this now.
 3.
Yup, I have a 5-way and a 3-way of these, and my slide guitarist (who swops between three guitars during gigs) liked it so much that he bought one to use at said gigs. The only thing to watch is that neoprene isn't the toughest material, and a year or two of thumping 4Kg basses onto it will wear through the padding on the bottom rails, especially the one at the back. I just wrapped some heavy foam around it and gaffa'd it in place. Sorted.
I have one of these also, and yes the neoprene wore out on mine too. I replaced it with this foam pipe lagging stuff. 4. Well for starters, there is nothing whatsoever to suggest that he was speaking to you specifically, given that he didn't quote you and his post did not follow one of yours. As for precisely what he was saying... well I know what my interpretation is, but why don't you ask him? This is quickly becoming ridiculous.
 5.
Disco songs tend to need a horn section or at least a keyboard. We have neither, so a lot of songs are not accessible to us. If someone says you can still do a version , fair enough, but it would be thin and we couldn't do it justice.
This is true. Rock bands are definitely easier to populate -- good guitarists are ten a penny in comparison to good ivorytinklers.
 6.
So what your saying is that for the past 30 years or so I've put no thought or effort into what I've been doing on most Friday and Saturday nights?
That's not what he said at all. From what I can see, nobody has accused you of that or anything like it. Why so defensive?
 7.
The usual pompous, condescending twaddle we've come to expect from this...individual.
1. Unnecessarily harsh. By all means challenge, but there's no need to be rude. 2. With all due respect, you've been here for 19 days. How can you have 'come to expect' anything?
 8.
Cheers.... can you forward it on to all my band mates too.... I'll send you our dates list for editing laters ;o)
Yup, no problem. My rates are very reasonable
 9.
Old people don't like change...
Or ageism.
 10.
I just copied from my set.... couldn't be arsed to remove every details when posting
I have done it for you, as the hugeness was verging on unreadable. Chaps, if you're going to post setlists, can you make sure they are just lists of tunes rather than every single detail, as otherwise it can make them monstrously long and hard to read. Ta.
 11.
Can't stand these types who say "I play jazz, therefore I'm a better musician than you pop/rock simpletons".
I can't remember the last time I either heard or read of somebody making such a statement.
 12. Makes me cry. I have no idea why, but it does. Every time.
 13. Still does.
 14.
The old saying comes to mind; "If you want to earn a large fortune playing music..... ...... start out with a large one!"
I thought it was, "If you want to make a small fortune playing music, start out with a large one"? PS. to the OP... do it. Just do it. At 22, you are easily young enough to pick up 'real life' and carry on if things don't work out. I had similar opportunities when I was your age -- I was in a great band which broke up, and the drummer went off to study at a music school in London. He called me up a number of times and begged me to come and join him, but I had a job which paid well and was still living at home so I had security, and didn't want to give all that up. So I sat there slowly dying of boredom at my desk job for the next umpteen years, while he toured Japan, Asia, Europe and Scandinavia with the James Taylor Quartet...
 15. I was 15 in 1980. It was the decade in which I really got properly seriously into music (having been hooked by 2-Tone in '79), discovered girls in a meaningful fashion , picked up a bass for the first time, did my A levels, got a job and a car and a band, and then a really good band and a Wal, built a following and spent every weekend playing in London at the Brentford Red Lion (RIP), 100 Club, T&C, Rock Garden... loving life and loving music and the whole thrill of being young with the world as my oyster. GOD, I F**KING LOVED THE EIGHTIES.
 16. I paid £330 for this in 1986. Still got it, and it's going nowhere.
 17. After many years wandering in the stringy wilderness, I've settled on Rotosound nickels, 45-130. I like the feel and the sound, and the longevity is good. I'm trying some similar D'Adds at the moment on the back of the 50% offer, to see how they compare.
 18.
I think I would rather play in my own band than the Stones.
I would rather play in almost any band other than the Stones.
 19. ...zero cents by nature.
 20. Watching it is equal parts uncomfortable and dreadfully saddening. Another talent imploding.
 21. At a recent gig in a Gloucester venue: Apparently it had been going on in much the same vein for half an hour before what happened at 3:04 happened. More detailed story here. Judging by reviews and stories from other venues online, it sounds like he might be self-destructing.
 22. Mike Stern quartet for the enjoyment. Muse for the ££££.
 23.
I know it's an unfashionable point of view, but our brothers in riddim can be a little overlooked sometimes. Now, this may be tongue in cheek, but this is from a website of a band we're supporting soon, band name removed: ****** ****** is an exciting 4-piece indie/rock originals band, comprising of catchy lyrics, beautifully powerful female vocals, thrilling guitar, pumping basslines and a drummer. Couldn't they have thought of anything nice to say about him?
Genuine LOL.
 24.
Then why did you bother asking the question?
Yes, I'm trying to work that out too.
