I have a somewhat modified Thunder 1A - it plays really nicely and sounds huge, especially with the pickup in series. BUT. It is indeed a weighty old beast and, unfortunately, the neck dives like an Argentinian footballer. That top body horn is just too short. Can't comment on the SB as I've never even laid a finger on one, but that string spacing does look awfy narrow.

If I tried that it'd take me half an hour to get on my feet again. I practice and rehearse on my árse, but play gigs on my feet. I've played a couple of gigs seated in the past, but that was when I had a serious cartilage problem in my knee which made standing for long periods v.painful.

Sei Flamboyant 5 string. It was a stunning instrument -- I mean, just look at it -- but I couldn't get the setup right, so in a fit of pique I sold it. What a stupid, stupid move. Piezo bridge, Schack eq, Bart pickups (wasn't super-keen on them, but that's an easy fix), blue edge LEDs and a whole forest of stunning walnut. I should have given it to a luthier and got them to do it properly, hell I should have taken it home to Camden -- a decent setup and a set of Delanos and it would have been simply perfect. It was beautifully made, felt great to play (apart from my crap set-up job) and the sound was to die for. I often kick myself, very hard, for letting that one go. Arrrgh. Ouch (just kicked myself again).

It's always sad** to see a band descend into such acrimony, especially when the parties at war are siblings. **Apart from Oasis, of course. That was just funny.

IME their customer service seems to blow hot and cold. I've only really dealt with Mark over the phone as it's a long way to just pop in... one time I bought a Genz rackmount kit over the phone and it couldn't have gone any better; another time when I put the phone down following a 'conversation' about something (I forget what) my first thought was "well if you're going to come at me with that attitude, you can stick your fecking shop sideways and without painkillers". Is he affected by phases of the moon or something? Absolutely. Attitude or not, we need shops like BD and Bass Gear and the Gallery.
