  1. Another vote for the spark booster - an always on type of pedal which can be set just so. In saying that I also have a Fender 'Trapper Bass' Distortion and it can do a wider range of tones from very minimal/just a hint of grit to much more full on. If you're after some versatility it's a very good option and I haven't really seen too much fanfare on here for it. It has a clean blend and a cross-over on one of the channels and another less involved (Gain Tone Level) side which can then be stacked for additional gnarl! The clean blend channel really lets you dial it in - a big bass sound without sacrificing low end and requires minimal effort.
  2. Price drop bump
  3. I’ve been rehearsing again and it’s good but we just can’t lock in a reliable guitarist. I’m told we have three auditioning next week! Is the new stuff original material or similar stuff to the JBC stuff? I’d looked at some original material bands but the stuff wasn’t really grabbing me.
  4. Has JBC called it a day or are you off experimenting in pastures new? I’ve started in an 80’s thing and I’m looking forward to some of the legacy synth stuff just to see if it’s useable although I’m hooking the iPad to moog app with convincing results! The update link on the last page has info on all the versions where the updates will work. I’d imagine the Go will get the same update as the rest. No reason why it shouldn’t. Update. It looks like it’s only HX kit so I guess the Go isn’t included.
  5. Yeah they’re fun for the soundscapes stuff and losing half an hour but I’ve dialled in some go to patches for my needs. It’ll be fun trying the Bassmaster out.
  6. The ongoing support/updates has been good.
  7. Mines been in the gig bag for a couple of rehearsals. I’ll have to get it plugged in today and updated. I was wondering when we were getting an update.
  8. I’ve tried the Noble/Cali combo and it’s a really good pairing. You’ll struggle to make your bass sound sweeter especially with the low cut engaged/bass boosted. It just adds the right kind of lows.
  9. I sent Sean some money and he very promptly sent me a pedal. Top notch!
  10. Quite like the form factor of this new Zoom.
  11. A lovely bit of Lakland history! This would be sold in minutes if it was on our American counterparts bass forum!
  12. As much as I’ve been enjoying this (and using it at my 80’s band rehearsals) it’s still for sale. As well as a ‘complete’ signal chain this also works as an audio interface. Still U.K. only postage and the deal includes a midi cable which isn’t supplied by DG. Next day shipping is included in the price.
  13. I have a Cali TX for sale and the price hasn’t budged. Drop me a dm if interested (I’m fully paid up with my subs and had/have it listed in the for sale section so nothing untoward going on)
  14. Bump! Had this at my 80’s band rehearsal the other night - very compact and held its own.
  15. Bumping this beauty!
  16. I was telling the guys in my 80’s band this very fact recently as it’s been suggested as one of our new tunes to learn/play.
  17. Spark booster 4 knob version is about £30 used and is a useful tool on bass.
  18. I’m a former Monique owner too but I had the M700 amp version. It really is a lovely unit and it’s not just about drive and saturation. At lower gain levels it really is a lovely front end and once you do start to wind it up it remains pleasing to the ear if that the the sound you like. The beauty in the Monique and from the demo’s I’ve heard of Simone give that full rich quality which when you’re noodling just sounds the way you’d expect a clean tube preamp to sound. I learned a long time ago I love a warm, clean tube sound rather than a tubby saturation which you’d normally associate with tube front end. Tube power amp break up is a world apart from a 12AX7 stuck in a preamp and often is a marketing device but when it’s been designed from the ground up and it suddenly becomes a much more integral part of the signal chain and does impart its character. I’m currently playing into a tube di with transformer/tubes and it’s doing that warm full sound which might not get noticed by many others but is very enjoyable as a starting point and I’m really looking forward to using it on a gig soon- likely iem with just the DI/eq pedal.

    NPD Cali 76 & OC2

Use the space on the Cali to fix smaller pedals. Mine has a strip of Velcro for some pedal piggy backing!

It’s works just fine. It’s been designed to work in a specific way thing more like a blade but using coils (I think). There probably more info on the site. I use one and it’s a really nice sounding pick up.

It’d be a routing mess would it not? What’s the thinking behind that design? Reverse p style ‘tighter’ bass response on the B string? You’d be better off with a Jazz bass 😀
