  1. Anywhere interesting in Norwich or surrounding area to go and ogle basses. Ive got a gig there on Saturday so want to check out the scenery.
  2. Wouldnt blame the amp to be honest. Feedback issues are usually due to instrument/ Pick up issues. A good place to start is check the bridge position. It should sit with about half the foot directly over the soundpost. This would put the front edge of bridge inline with nicks in the F holes. Move it more on top of soundpost and the sound will tighten up and get less feedback friendly. Move it away and you get a more bassy open sound. Pickups are personal choice but a Fishman Pro Plat should have sorted any other issues out. Once all that is sorted you should be able to get a decent gigging sound from most amps
  3. Not Liverpool but there is David Vernons in Salford. Or post some pix here for our expert appraisal
  4. Not so much a bump, just a gentle nudge before it goes evilbay
  5. It takes years of practice and is akin to becoming a Jedi Master. Really its all in the wrist movement though. A good set up will save a lot of heartache if uou wznt to give it a go.
  6. The krivo i had was a couple of years back so maybe an early model . The good thing was that it sounded more woody than the stringcharger, which is the only mag I ve tried. It also had pole pieces you could push up or down to even out string volume. Not as cheap as a beach ball though, but if you try that its got to be one with pirates on it.
  7. Dont try the Krivo ,its plagued with hum problems that can make it almost unusable. Feedback comes from the front and back of the body vibrating, squeeze the body between you knees when playing-if this helps get a small inflatable beach ball push it into the bass side f hole and pump it up hard. watch you dont move the soundpost and away you go. Seriously, it works.
  8. Neat little pre amp with volume .gain.treble and bass ,plus all important phase reverse and high pass filter that can tame your upright sound. A good alternative to the Fishman Platinum. Comes with manual .belt clip and mic stand bracket. In its original box £50 plus p&p. Note, this is only the single channel version.
  9. Put the upright pickups into A and B , you can then use the remaining input for your electric bass. Set the dial to A +B mix and you can swap from upright to electric with a press of the pedal
  10. Walkabout with a pro plat eq and electric straight in. Without fail get compliments of how acoustic the upright sounds in a gig situation.
  11. Would you sell the planet wing seperatly?
  12. Tried all the ones mentioned and the most suited to bass (to my ears) is the TC Electronics Flashback. Really versatile and some fun stuff like reverse delay .
  13. Write left handed ,everything else with the right. A couple of years back I was in a band with 3 others who were all the same.
  14. Thank for the interest , but Plumbob got there first.
  15. FOR SALE ,BOXED WITH MANUAL. £45 POSTED TO UK MAINLAND
  16. I would be surprised if its 8 ohm, theyre special order. The standard is 4 ohm
  17. [attachment=84671:bass_gear.JPG] Love it! Walkabout Scout with extention cab, both 15" speakers with downfiring "radiator" speaker--who needs a Gramma pad
  18. Re chargables work just fine. I have 2 sets on the go ,one in use and one on charge .Getting through a couple of gigs before swapping is no problem. Ive had my G30 since they first came out and its still going strong(2 years?).
  19. Thanks for explaining in laymans terms .
  20. 2 new Groove Tubes seems to have solved the problem. I know nothing about electronics,so excuse my stupidity, but if something has gone "open circuit" is that cause for concern?? ie could it happen again at any time .
  21. My Mesa Walkabout seems to have a problem where both 12AX7 valves have failed at the same time. They no longer glow and even though there is speaker hiss when the amp is on,there is no sound from any input source. A search on the net led me to try plugging into the FX return which bypasses ALL controls including the master volume, this works fine and,and using an external pre amp would get me through a gig . Trouble is ,I have 2 gigs this weekend so my question is ,would it be safe to do this ? Also ,why would both vavles fail at once,is it a sign of a bigger problem. Any help appreciated.
  22. I have a set of spiro wein which are almost unplayed, let me know If you're interested
