1.
QC is not on a per bass basis, it's about maintaining standards of production and finish. If ropey basses with the fundamental issues described earlier are on sale with the Lakland name on, then Lakland have QC issues. The QC is what is supposed to stop ropey basses leaving the factory, that's what the "control" bit in Quality Control is for. Not that other manufacturers don't have/haven't had similar issues (Fender have been called out on this before, and our very own Musicman20 has had fun and games with Stingrays), but it's surprising (and therefore remarkable) that a bass at £1000 does in the terms described. I should add that the 2006 DJ Skyline I had was a terrific instrument, a class above any of the Fender Jazzes I've had.
I understand all of this - it's just that it sounds like all the way along the line those basses have been passed onto the shop floor. Someone should have stopped them at some point
 2. I can assure you that their QC is most likely not hit and miss - I can't deny however that all companies are prone to mistakes, no matter who they are. It's also the responsibility of the shop to assure that the instruments are of good quality, and get in touch with Lakland if they aren't. Otherwise impressions such as this can start spreading I.E giving the impression that *all* QC is off, and not just the select few. As far as I'm aware, Lakland hasn't changed anything along their line and has literally just changed hands - that is all. Either way, my Lakland 44-01 has superb build quality. It beat everything up to £800 in this regard hands down. I have definitely played ropey examples of Laklands, but again potentially some of the blame can be laid with the retailer.
Still no bids! Haven't a clue what's going on here - a perfectly good Warwick Rockbass Streamer five string starting at £100 bids. Link to the auction is embedded in the first post.

 5. Hi guys! I've just put up a bass of mine on eBay - however, since it has had no bids yet I thought I'd also give it an airing on Bass chat I would be happy to sell it straight away for £175. Failing that, obviously feel free to place a bid on it! You can either collect the bass from near Brighton, Sussex or I can courier it to you on Parcelforce 48 for £10. Thanks for looking here's a link to the auction, complete with pictures. Here is the auction description repeated: _________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Hello! I have for sale my Warwick Rockbass Streamer Standard five string bass guitar. It has some signs of use and the inevitable knocks here and there (of which I have tried to show the ones that are possible to photograph), but apart from that it is in very sound functional condition. It plays really well, especially easy for a five string, and its passive electronics and single pickup gets some great sounds with minimal hassle, which is a boon for recording direct. For such a good value bass, it punches well above its weight. There is also one tiny screw missing from the truss rod plate (which is possibly visible from the picture of the headstock - these always go missing!) and I have changed the knobs from the original ones to plastic ones, as I find that metal ones almost always seem to fall off after a while. I can either courier the bass via Parcelforce 48 or the buyer is of course welcome to pick it up from Brighton area, Sussex. Bidders with ten or less feedback need to drop me a message before bidding, as otherwise they will risk their bid being cancelled. I also welcome European bidders, but they must also contact me before placing a bid - this is also so I can re-calculate courier costs. Thanks for looking, and please feel free to ask me any questions about this fab instrument. Happy bidding! _____________________________________________________________________________________________ Thanks for reading
 6. Hi everyone! I'm having a spot of bother looking for one of these cables. I'm assuming that it's for a two pole speakon (this is the end going into the cabinet). My new power amp uses speaker posts instead of speakon for bridging operation. Thanks all! Mike @ Gear4DJs
 7. 8.
Yup - it'll work just fine. I've been doing this for the past few years with a Boss TU-2 or Boss GEB-7 pedal, and more recently with the Boss LS-2 to mix two pickups. Sometimes the lower impedance of 1Mohm actually works better than a higher one. I was previously using a Fishman Dual Parametric DI as an impedance buffer but it's 10Mohm input just let in far too much low end that I ended up using the parametric eq to take out all the low end. Hooked things up back to front one day, with the Boss TU-2 first, and it instantly sounded better - like putting it through a high pass filter. But yeah, as mentioned -try it and if it sounds good then it works!!!

Put the upright pickups into A and B , you can then use the remaining input for your electric bass. Set the dial to A +B mix and you can swap from upright to electric with a press of the pedal
This is EXACTLY what I was hoping to do keeponehandloose - I'm intending to do 'doubling' gigs and it was causing me an enormous headache trying to work how to get the setup so that I could a ) switch quickly between electric bass and double bass, and b ) hopefully not have to splash tons of money in the first place. I don't even mind if it doesn't sound 100% perfect - it just needs to work !
 9. Hi guys! This is Mike from Gear4DJs speaking. I'm trying to come up with the best way to get either a one or two double bass pickup system into my amplifier without too much rigmarole (or cost). I've noticed that the Boss LS-2 (which I own already) has 1MOhm inputs - does this also apply to the returns of the pedal? And does that mean, if that's true, that I could put a 'slap' pickup through one return and then the 'normal' pickup through the other, which'll then enable me to mix them together? Cheers all!
 10.
I'm assuming that you have one yourself. Could I trouble you to weigh it for me as I don't believe what it says on the web site!
No problem - I can do that for you tomorrow when I get back into the office, as we have a set of proper courier scales will post my findings back here! Mike @ Gear4DJs
 11.
Can you personally recommend it as a comfortable gig bag to wear on your back with the reasonably heavy bass on a 35 minute brisk walk? Just looked on the Protection Racket web site and that model doesn't appear to have back-pack straps? I am impressed with the weight (0.0kg) though!
I can indeed. They have very nice weight distribution - judging by another post, I'm pretty sure I got the model number wrong. It's the case with the model number 7051. Straps are pretty decent and storage space is very generous it has these great little inserts inside the case that allow the bass to sit really 'snug' and be immovable, yet be still well padded (pretty sure you can move the inserts as they're velcro'd in). Great value for money as well, for the quality! Some gig bags get very expensive... Mike @ Gear4DJs
 12. I would highly recommend the Protection Racket 7021 bass case - it's about £60, and is extraordinarily comfortable and keeps your bass incredibly safe as it's a semi hardcase with perfect padding inside. One to check out Mike @ Gear4DJs
 13. H&H amps are beyond reproach - they are truly brilliant. Have a bump on me
 14.
Bridge the power amp - a homemade Y-cable with one speakon at the amp end splitting to two leads will work just fine. We can add an extra speakon but with the cost of shipping them back and forth it's probably not worth it when the Y-cable will work well (all our 8 ohm cabs now have two speakons to avoid these discussions in the future!)They'll handle the 1500 fine but you won't get any extra useful loudness over the 1000 - get the former if you're thinking you might want to also use it for PA duties in stereo.
Yeah, I should've mentioned this as well i.e the Compacts *do* take over 600 watts, but you won't really get any extra output benefit. Cheers Alex
