1. that is rather nice! well done mark
2. are these true humbuckers or split coils under chrome? obviously they look like humbuckers but the exposed pole pieces make me ask.
3.
Like this?
Yeah something like that. I was thinking more along the lines of what Gust0o says though, Double Model P's absolutely kill! I'd love a blacktop jazz if they were made properly and had un varnished maple chunky P-bass necks!
4. I'd go double P
5. I'd buy a mustang.
6. Good lord!
7. I like the charcoal colour.
8. Ive dropped Rich a message based purely on how good this looks.
9. I had a similar P bass moment at the studio last week. I've owned various P basses in my time, a US 78, a 70s CIJ and a 51 and found them all missing something in a live situation. BUT at the studio I played a mexican 50s P and I loved it. I don't think it will replace my T-40 live but I was blown away by the recorded tone. The balance was off on this particular one though with the body being too light.
10. thats a really nice looking bass, it must have been a blast to build it yourself too. I'd like to do the course at some point.
11.
why didn't you stop them!?
If I had my time again....
12. Why don't you just get a custom T-bird with the looks but not the tone?
13. If you want to put it back to standard and sell the mods I'd be interested in them
14. I went to school with The Automatic. Not that it's going to earn me any cool points.
15. Is this a new colour?
16. You wouldn't want a 51 RI then?
17. That came out stunning. Having just recorded on a nice P I now have some fairly serious P bass GAS
18. That would be epic. Do you want to leave it up for another week and I'll get a thread going tomorrow for the 51 RI?
19. Well let me know if you fancy it I do quite like this bass.
20. Would you fancy a CIJ 51 RI p bass? Perfect condition with case.
21. I'd love to have any answers, they both look pretty cool. If you find anything I'd be interested to know.
22. Is it a jazz neck?
23.
It's a totally passive bass, no active electronics. The switchable pre sets are for mids to give the Jaco sound, not that would influence me, however in the bypass mode the tonal qualities are fantastic :-)
That's pretty cool. Let me know how useful it is in the real world. I was eyeing one of these up last year. I love the styling and they said they could do me one with a P neck
24. Stoked on seeing this!!
