1. I'm a sucker for attention to detail when it comes to covering a song and I like to stick closely to the original basslines. Anyone else similar - or more improvisational? And - on a related note - are there any small bass nuances in songs that you have to pick up on and include? I'm not in a covers band but like to play along at home. Example, 0:49 of Rope by Foo Fighters. That bass slide and octave pick gets me every time. So good!
2. Could I ask what an 'MM' neck is? Cheers!
3. I'm not a massive KoL fan, but his tone on 'On Call' record is pretty great! Lots and lots of reverb - and pretty percussive pick playing.
4. Here's some new material of theirs: Sounds like a jazz bass with some really cool playing in there. Doesn't stray too far from Mic Todd's style and the tone shines through well from 2:20 onwards. Thoughts? Must be a few Coheed fans lurking here.
5. This isn't our Parade - Santigold.
6. Hmm, I'm in Oxford and perhaps after a precision. What's the nut width on this? (I must ask this everytime..) I want a P but I have smaller hands.
7. Take to the Skies by Enter Shikari.
8.
Mike Burkett of NOFX.
Beat me to it. Plays some great stuff at the same time too.
9. I love Songs About Jane. I haven't heard the latest stuff. Moves like Jagger is a great pop tune.
10. Big fan of root-octave playing, especially sliding up then back down.
11. Lovely bass. I'm after a jazz style neck - how chunky is the nut width on this - or typical P?
12.
Put your bass down. Listen to what the rest of the instruments are doing paying particular attention to the drums and vocals. Sing the bass line (in your head if your actual singing's not very good). Now pick up your bass and play what you've been singing.
I think this is a great way of coming up with a bassline. I try it when I can. Sometimes nothing stirs in my head though!
13. Found it hard to get past the intro vocals. Yikes, and the constant slapping. NOOOOO
14. Oh man, if the sale happens to fall through.. I'm interested
15. Probably not the answer I'm looking for, but I guess it's a P width neck?
16. Would you be willing to post?
17. Any sign of pics yet?
18. Megalithic Symphony - AWOLNATION Surprisingly good album, I've found.
19. Yes! ^^ Mr Blue Sky by ELO, for me.
20. Not that I expect many people to know it, but Good Apollo I (album) by Coheed & Cambria is probably my favourite bass tone. Pure Spector awesomeness and some great bass playing.
