6.
I appreciate that good customer service is a good idea, but I think giving a customer a "happy ending" with a transaction for music gear may be taking it a bit far
7.
No. How would we know what who needs and when. The basses do not break under normal use. Also, the dealer would have to buy the parts so maybe ask them. They are new to our basses and they are in the UK. I don't know in Europe who buys from whom. Today I am sending a Truss rod nut (stripped by using the wrong wrench) and a set of strings to Turkey. I am having lunch now and my sandwich costs more than what I will make on that order.
ken, im really enjoying you on here, you,ve got balls of steel!
8. well if im honest it was me who brought this to kens attention, heres his reply: Ok, read it all. What a pile of sh*t these guys talk. So many lies and re-interpetations. I can't spend time fighiting books of woods fixing the bent minds of these people.. Everyone that calls here can talk to me. Every order we take is filled to the letter. If not, we correct it. We tell people what we believe to be true. Then they can buy as the wish. I only contradict if I think I am helping them. Life is too short. The CR model was never a Chuck Rainey model in our literature but dedicated to him after it was designed by the request of his wife at the time in 1991. Chuck and I are still friends and he can play or buy what ever he likes. Another bullshit story. KSD's were nevr expensive basses. The 1990s Burners were our producton/import bass and after 1993 had the same circuit as all of our basses. Thats the pot of one broken. The first KSD's were by Brooklyn Gear and made in Korea. They sold for under $1000, some times 500-600. Then D'Andra did 'their' distribution and eventually by agreement took over the line. By using out name and some designs, we collect a small royality. We sold a few of the early Korean models to help with local players and visitors. About 20 in total in our records of the earlier Korean production, period. So many lies, mis truths and just made up sh*t storm there but I need to work, not fight an angry mom with computers that type faster then me so I can only talk to those that talk to me. Thanks for the email. he's also a bit pissed with me cos i joined his forum as hugh jarse, but i hope he's cooled down now he's vented his spleen...
9. WTF? At lest he's being honest about what he's done and its going for £60 for christs sake. Theres plenty of bullsh*tt*rs on here about their gear for sale IMO,. stop being so snobbish and cut the guy some slack
10. 1st lesson was great, look forward to checking out the rest! As a begginer of slap the "secret" was in the left hand slap as you said. You showing just how relatively slowly you can actually move your thumb was really encouraging! Looking forward to being shown some cool licks, well done and thanks!
11. well if you're going to use one, a second hand markbass compressore is a good place to start, find them on ebay now and again, not necessarily for sub 100 quid mind!
12. awesome! just wiki'd all the artists, some line up...
13. QUOTE hi there! getting a PF 500 hopefully tomorrow. I was wondering what you thought of it at your gig? good value for the money? im gigging this sunday! regards steve Hi Steve. Sorry I didn't reply to the forum. Well, what can I say? WOW!!! First let's talk about power. I didn't had the chance to take my both SVT410 and SVT15 cabs because the stage was not too big, so I took only the SVT410. This is a 8 ohms cab, so I only had circa 300W from the amp. With the gain LED flashing for more strong notes I had the volume set for less than half (about 4) and it was ....LOUD! It was a place with 200 people and I had power enough even with half of the PF-500 max power. Now the sound. I had one SVT3pro so I will compare with it. I felt the sound was not so full and deep as the SVT, in fact the characteristic of the valve preamp is missing on the PF500. But in another hand, the bass was more clear and much more defined when playing. Please note that I'm not saying it doesn't have strong bass sound, but is not the sound of the valve if I'm making myself clear. Then, after one or two musics I've selected the ultra low filter. WOW (again) now with the ultra low filter it is the ampeg sound I know. A very strong sound very deep and still clear. It's really dificult for me with these sets to compare it with the SVT3Pro, they seem similar. Of course we should not forget I'm comparing two amps one costing around 1000 Euros and the other costing 400Euros! And the main issue...one is 12Kgs and the other 5 Kgs!!! I'm very happy with it. The next month (on the 1st) I'll have a gig on the outside in a place where 10000 people are expected. I'll will take my two cabs with me and because they are both 8 ohms, I'll have 4 ohms and the full 500W from the PF500. It will be the final test I don't know what type of amplification you use and perhaps you can have a different idea from mine. I can only compare what I know and all of my life I've used ampeg for amplification. Hope this small opinion helps you to peace your mind. Cheers. Joao Hope Joao doesnt mind me posting this PM between us regarding his experience with the PF-500, i cant wait to get mine!
14.
Ok, so went to Andertons today, tried one out, listened to abt two to three bars of me playing a Precision through it, decided straight away to get it. It was hooked up to one of the PF 115HE cabs, and man, did it sound sweet. Anyway, got it home, hooked up to my cab, and am really pleased with it. Re the fan - yes, you can hear it whirring away, but as soon as I start playing, or start up a song on Youtube through my PC speakers (at home practice level) you can`t hear it any longer. Fuss abt nothing, imv. As said, I`ve got a couple of band practices this week, so I`ll post a review, but at the moment, I`ve got 500 watts of Ampeggy Bassiness, for under £350 (Andertons very nicely agreed to price-match for me). The scores so far:
ordered one on sunday from andertons, hoping to get it tomorrow *(tuesday), rehersal wednesday and gigging it sunday! Will let you know how it sits! Also FWIW got it on 9 months 0% credit on andertons so thats the next few gigs money taken care of then! Wife doesnt know yet!
15. hi and welcome from a fellow lemonrocker..been steadily coming here more and more often these past couple of months, highly addictive, already bought my first purchase here - 82 JV squire P/J, converted to the path of Leo already!
16.
hmm, maybe too suttle a joke. Either that or you've got a better guitarist than me!
Doh..just go it! - fantastic! Actually just found out he can slap better than me too........... a bit like that old ringo starr best drummer in the world quip from john lennon!
17. forgive my ignorance guys but if you want to slap, do you still recommend flats? You're all making them sound great but are they a one trick pony? Never tried them so a bit confused about this!
18.
Are you able to play in time?
i gig 2/3 times a month so i would like to think so! Why?
19. have to say this guy Marlowe has some great lessons free on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GECcfuvZo-E...mp;feature=fvwp
20.
Good news, it's not he 80's
ha ha its not the 80's (although i have a secret guilty pleasure about mark king, but shhh dont tell the lads in the band!) Ive just taken delivery of ash's fab 83 JV squire P/J hybrid and have to say thats made quite a difference in my early learning curve, it slaps well good! Im sorry but i didnt mean all bass players should have to be able to slap to call themselves bass players - of course not! Its just a personal bug bear of mine that i dont feel I can call myself a bass player untill I can do something on the bass that my guitarist cant!
21. 83 JV squire precision in white,...Got this bass 2 days after money cleared. No probs at all, great communicatioin from ash, highly recommended. fantastic guitar!
22. Got this bass 2 days after money cleared. No probs at all, great communicatioin from ash, highly recommended. fantastic guitar!
23. Ive always wanted to learn slap but i havent a clue where to start. It looks so hard, is it? Any pointers in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. I dont feel like i can call myself a bass player untill ive got some grounding in this particular discipline.
24. Dr Duck's Axe Wax? Ive used this for years, seems pretty good, but you may have heard of it already?
