1. My dad bought this amp in 1976 and I played it myself up to about 1990 when it started sounding crappy. rather than fixing it I got a new one - those were the days..... So I found it in dads garage and it seemed pretty dead but it powered up and hummed but no output. A recap, new celestion and a repair on the transformer and it sounds better than I remember - even with my poor soldering. Anyway it looks a lot funkier than it did
2. Hi Folks during my isolation, I've finally got around to almost finishing a wee project started a few years ago, knocking a five fifteen into separates. The original case was badly water damaged but I had managed to salvage the amp and speaker. When I was dismantling the thing I took pictures of the wiring connectors on the transformer and power switches and socket but I've lost them! could some kind and probably bored soul take 10 minutes to pull their amp out and take a couple of pictures for me, so I can get this thing finished. I need a clear pic of the transformer connections and the power switch connections. I've had a look at the schematic but it might as well be in Chinese..... Thanks awfully Bax

4. Never thought of that. Ive got plenty grille left ill maybe make something just for that
5. It's part of a specific amp head case ....
6. I reckon you could grate cheese on one side of it!! A
7. Flatwounds and a sponge mute. What's sustain?
8. I put a nojo in my 51 reissue. Its very good.
9. It is the burst. I think it woud suit the light plate. I think I'll go with it.
10. I've did it with my squier VM telecaster bass, the 70s style one with the big humbucker. I went the whole hog though with a vintage neck tint and darkened headstock face and old stle decal. I don't see any harm in it, I enjoy having it done - it's for me alone and there's no malice in it. I fancied a 70s style telebass to go with my 51RI so I had both TB models but I'd have to sell my 77 Jazz or my child to fund one. Did it cheap with the squier and the paintwork and some extra chrome. I like it. The question is now, do I go for a cream or parchment scratchplate or leave it black?

12. Thanks Grangur, but I think I'd be we as well to upgrrade the Squier ones if I'm going to swap them over.
13. Hi Folks. I've a Squier VM telecaster bass - the big single humbucker one. I've done a few mods on it and it's sounding and looking pretty good aside the tuning slips a good more than my other basses. So I'd like to change the tuners over with something that's a straight swap as I've already retinted the neck and would rather have no further holes. So it seems that it's fitted with the same design and screw spacing as mexican standard and usa highway 1. It seems that hipshot hb7 is a direct replacement but £100 is a bit steep So the question is are standard MIM tuners likely to be any better than the Squier ones. They do have different spare part numbers. Ta
14. That worked the other for us once. The headliners - a good old act to be fair - asked for the support (us) to run lower than them. The were pissing the sound guy off a bit during the sound check, he's a good guy who we had worked with a lot. Anyway told us in advance what the tour manager had said and told us not to worry as we would be getting the best front of house that night.
15. I did BA Hons in History with the OU. Took six years of LOTS of reading, researching and essay writing to get through.....
16. Good stuff Whizzzy, I'm much happier with the bass now.
17. Aye Meddle, I've had a wee look at the 50s les paul stuff on the net, one guy summed it up as "Exactly. That's why the 50s wiring is 'wrong' from an electronics point of view, because it makes the two controls interactive - when both are below full, changing either affects the setting of the other." which is pretty much the issue I had. Well worth getting changed on this bass IMO.
