I just love these things - it just goes to show what a diverse bunch we are, when it comes to covers and yet through all of that, certain numbers keep coming up. It's also useful to note down ones that you hadn't thought of and give them a go. Got dash but will do mine later. Cheers.
I picked up a Foundation earlier in the year - love the Super Ferrite pickups in it. Like a Jazz bass but less polite.
Very well described! Great balance, luvverly neck and a bit more bark than you would expect! This is mine. A cracking bass in many respects. Cheers.
I have just missed out on getting a Peavey Foundation bass & I feel gutted about it. I have owned a few Peavey basses my first Pro bass was a T-40 which was stolen, and I've owned the far east versions of the Cirrus & International series. But recently I have had bad gas for the American made Peaveys, Foundation,Dyna, Fury etc. I've always had a soft spot for Peavey basses as they, were the only pro basses that were sold were I used to live. The daft thing is I already have a Ric 4003 & a '64 Hofner violin bass, but I'm going to save and look out for a USA Peavey only this time I'm keeping it.
Hi. I have now sold my Fury, to Paul S (above) and have still got a "Line around the head" USA Foundation and Foundation Fretless - They are a seriously good bass!! I have promised myself to reduce the size of my collection and I am achieving it, v e r y s l o w l y! I have more than a handful of T-40's so if you are looking for a good one, drop me a PM. If you see a line around head Foundation - Grab it!! They also did the T-45, a great bass in it's own way. The early Patriot is also another great bass. Good luck in scratching your USA Peavey itch! Cheers.

Not played a Forty for 3 or 4 weeks - watching this makes me think, it's time to dig one out!
A nice looking Hondo P, with our very own FlatEric referenced in the description. Although the picture is not actually the bass for sale....?!?!? http://www.ebay.co.u...n-/121229837763
Ah, fame at last!! Says he will put up his pics later. Mine is really nice - The Professional is different to the Std Hondo/Hondo II. Details here. http://flatericbassandguitar.blogspot.co.uk/2010/10/hondo-professional.html Cheers. -
Thank you for a most enlightening and entertaining blog post. Nice work, Sir. As for guitar trashing, I'm not opposed in principle - people can do whatever they like with their own property and after all, it's only a bit of wood and metal. As for destructive onstage mayhem, few have surpassed the late Ms Wendy O Williams (NSFW) Rare 'not topless' performance: Wendy chainsaws an Explorer
Thanks SD. Just like to make it clear that the post on my blog was about the aquisition of the parts from his Strat. Although a massive fan of his playing, always a bit squeemish about a fine instrument being destroyed. If defined by the likes of Jon (Bassassin) as "firewood" - I don't think I would have a problem. Just wanted to make my position clear. Cheers.
Richie Blackmore used to swap his strat for a cheapo woolworths special before sacrificing it on the alter of Rock 'N' Roll and the Marshall stacks he used to destroy were made of cardboard. It was all just pantomime for the teenage boys in the front row. I hope this bit of inside information has calmed you down.
How ironic! I have litterally done a blog post about Ritchie Blackmore!!! Read this and you'll see that in the day, he went for it with the real thing. Those of a nervous disposition, look away - lot's of smashing - some with No Name Makes, but not always!! Peavey T-40 wiring on basses that aren't Peavey T-40s
FlatEric replied to mrdreadful's topic in Repairs and Technical
Hi. I would be interested in the results. Quite a few Forty's were mucked around with, now players want them back the way they were. Cheers. -
In today's Made in Korea/Made in China market, we look at a bass for a couple of hundred quid and think that'll do me - when I get better, I'll get something a bit more special. Things were different back then and for your £ in your pocket - a lot more painful. Almost EVERYTHING back then, was, in real terms, a lot more than we pay now. In todays money, the £165.00 listed in '75, would be £1173.35!!! OUCH. Don't think it would realise anything like over a grand but the one you have looks nice enough (well looked after) and not that many around - try and find another one like that. I use this as an indicator - just to amuse myself.
Sweet!
Still Sweet. Compared to so many other instruments out there (and there are many other great ones, as well) these things just Ooooooozze Quality. It's only when you get the chance to play one, you realise. Good luck with the sale - worth every penny.

This is from a previous post on this subject - this is what mine looks like, for not many $$$$
I made this one from Platfoam. If the material you use to seperate the cab from the floor is too thin/hard, it will still transfer sound. If the foam is too soft there's a chance your cab and amp will easily be knocked over!! This works a treat and was covered in another Gramma thread. See also here: http://flatericbassa...oject-t-40.html Won't go anywhere without it now! Cheers.
Nice and Rare! Cody Bass. When I did a feature on Peter Cook, in my blog, the "Neds" come up quite a bit in the interviews. They liked the name, from the TV Series. The "in joke" in the band Peter was in at the time was that they all called each "Ned" Can I join the queue behind Ash???? Cheers.
-
Well, there's a thing!! Nice. Bit more bark on the bottom end? I think the plate may have to be custom made - Bass Doc? Cheers.
-
Peter Cook, Axis range - although in very limited numbers. I believe he did a few others, along with many other UK custom builders. Cheers.
-
Hi. I made my own and it has been with me ever since, even the rest of the lads in the band, when loading the van, ask "have we got the pad?" Isolating the the cab from a hollow, boomy stage - whatever the size, makes a big difference. More focussed, tighter projection. Get one or make one - you'll not look back. Cheers.
-
Nice. I only have two Status (Statii??) a Shark and a Groove, both great basses. I did play one of Rich's - Out to play Jazz - a few years ago, at a gig in a hotel, only for a few moments, through a Genz (I think) rig - VERY impressed. Keep on trying more of the range - you will not be disappointed. Cheers.
http://www.ebay.co.u...=item23324e2de5 Just been listed. I have one courtesy of Flat Eric which is very nice indeed. Mine is lightweight (around 8lbs or so I think) with a *really* skinny and shallow neck, and I mean *really* skinny (37mm) and shallow. Precision bass-a-like with a slightly more aggressive tone than the usual Precision bass. These are beautifully made - in the USA - but go for a song. I reckon this will be lucky to top £170, which is a crime.
'ello mate. You are SO RIGHT!!! USA Made, earlier line around the head - light, fast and with a big punch!!!!!!!!! I had two of these, at one time. If someone would like a serious bass, USA Made, lovely neck - place you bids now. Cheers.
Here's a refurb I did on a '97 Buzzard. Thanks to Karen, you have re-joined the fold. It seems that already there are many here glad of your return and I'm sure many more will chip in. I am wondering if you would consider being taking up a new position on here as Captain Jap and leaving behind Captain Jap Crap? I, for one, have a few high quality Japanese instruments, from the Classic period, as do many others on here and as your knowledge extended into that area, it would seem more appropriate to drop the crap! You, I'm sure, will still cover all that is Plywood and Plastic but there are also all that is great, from Japan. Whadayathink?? Another thing. . . . Note to all of us on here - perhaps not bombard Jon with all the questions we have been dying to ask. . . . . all at once. Yeah? Now, where's my list. . . . Cheers.
But I'm rejoining the financially debilitating world that is BC. I have GAS cramps and my bank account's panicking already. Oh god. Anyone want to buy some rubbish old Japanese basses? J.
Jon, Hi. It's SO GOOD to have you with us again. Welcome back. For me, BC was never quite the same without you on board. Top Job. Cheers.

I've got one of these (I used to have two Rail Basses, as well http://flatericbassandguitar.blogspot.co.uk/2010/08/on-rails.html) and it is a serious bit of kit. Back in the day. . . . these were expensive basses - over £600, in today's money!!! See Here: http://flatericbassandguitar.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/westone-quantum-bass-x850.html Good luck with the project - keep us posted. Cheers.
