Jazz bass with two precision pickups
FlatEric replied to Annoying Twit's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Slap a couple of old DiMarzio pups in there and you would have a Serious Rockin' Bass - I always wondered why Fender didn't think of this - looks like they got round to it! Cheers. -

GET YOUR PEAVEY's OUT - American Rudy Sarzo Signature
FlatEric replied to BassManGraham's topic in Gear Gallery
Considering the amount of Peavey I have, I have to confess that this is on my "to do" list. I have never even touched one! I can't say that I have seen more than a couple of Rudy Sarzo Signature basses, ever come up for sale. I am still working on it.. Cheers. -

Whatever you choose from that period, you really can't go far wrong. I have many Aria from that period - all sorts of SB's, including an RSB Special and Deluxe, right up to an early SB1000 - all great basses. Love 'em. At the other end of the scale, I have three Laser Heritage - two passive and one active. I have gigged the white passives, many times. Not got round to the active yet but will do. If you trawl through my collection, you will find quite a few of them - in fact my latest post is about a cracking RSB. You look at players of that era - no end of them were playing Aria. Good luck in your search for your Aria Bass. Cheers.

Not Bad for an £80 Bass...(Video..Excuse the playing)
FlatEric replied to ZenBasses's topic in General Discussion
Yep, I would agree. I have a line fretless, which has been played by quite a few players of note (to me, anyway ) and all have said what a great bass! It is one of the very few instruments I have ever bought new. Went into a shop, trying to look casual and uninterested (just wanted a quick browse) picked it up, thought is was nice and quick as a flash, the salesman had a lead in his hand and was leading me to a stool and amp. As Hagrid would say (Harry Potter) Oooerrr, I shouldnavedonethat!! So nice, I couldn't resist and bought it. Highly recommended. Cheers. -
I love them, too. I have then on a couple of my Fender Japan J62's and have often thought they would be great on some of my other basses. Simple but works.

Part two is also well worth a watch. http://youtu.be/lYeH6oQgcOg
Spotted this on YouTube yesterday. Found it quite informative. Goes into detail about the electronics, I didn't realise there were capacitors on the volumes! Definitely worth a watch if you're an owner or thinking of buying the most underrated bass in history.
Absolutely Brilliant! Great demo on a Toaster. Just love it. Anyone leaning towards a Forty, have a look at the video. Thanks Ash. Cheers.
Wow, i swear I used to have a bottle of that. Gotta be fifteen years ago though. Packaging reminds me of elites strings back in the day
Errrrmm, I can see that most are not taking this seriously. . . At least one of you remembers it. Surely someone else must have used some of this? I think I bought the last lot 3 or 4 years ago ish. Looks like I'm now on a mission to find something else like it. I'll keep you posted. Cheers.

Ha! You guys! You don't sniff it and it is not "essence of snake"! I bought some from a guitar show, ages ago and having got half way down that bottle, I bought two more when I went to another show. I guess I must be on the last bottle now. It works like Fast Fret but seems to last a lot longer - certainly all the way through one set - quick wipe in the break and you're off again. It also protects the strings - sometimes it may be 5 or 6 months before I will open the case of the next victim and the strings are just as I left them, having applied this "snake oil" I would just like to get hold of some more. Cheers.

I thought I had another bottle of this but can't find it. I swear by this stuff and there is only a drop left. Part of the label is ripped, so I can't get any details off it! Thunder Glide Bass String Care. Help! Cheers.

Ash. . . . . . Now what are you after??? Not got a Gibson - got a 70's Ibanez Destroyer Bass - this one: http://flatericbassandguitar.blogspot.co.uk/2011/02/ibanez-2459b-destroyer-and-greco.html Very pointy! I have also played a couple of Epiphones - playing them with any confidence, like a lot of basses that sort of shape, is an acquired skill! You still got gas? Cheers.
I agree. Can't beat a p-bass!
Ash - You got a Precision now? I agree with a lot of the writings in this thread, as there is no doubt it was ground breaking and is still, to this day, The Bass - A Jazz or a Precision. That said. . . . . . I am lucky enough, as are some others on here, to be able to select 7 or 8 basses, of different make/shapes/styles etc and put them up against the Fenders. There is a lot to be said for Fender but it's only when you play one after the other, after the other, you get a subjective look at the plus and minus of each bass. Fender could perhaps best be described as the most universally accepted bass but it isn't the only one out there. I have a 72 Jazz, three Fender Japan 60's re-issue Jazz but not one Fender Precision. I did have four but they have now all found new homes. In a nutshell "Horses for Courses", I think. Cheers.

I know it's not a bass. . . . but one of my blog readers pointed this one out. I'm putting it up, as several of you on here have expressed a desire to get their hands on one, for those of you who visit The Dark Side. . . with two extra strings!! Listed here. http://www.ebay.co.u...281120781329%26 Edit: Should have added - nothing major - switches are easy and if a visual issue, the pick-up rings can be sought. Looks really nice - more rare colour.
Flateric ....... Lovely bass indeed. What exactly are all the switching options ?
Series, parallel for both pick-ups and a phase option.
Flateric, I asked you on another thread if you had pictures of your Oddysey but I think you must have stopped reading that one after posting. Anyway, here it is and beautiful - I loved Oddyseys. I have no cash just now but if you're ever selling...etc. etc. Cheers Ed PS Any bigger pics of the whole bass?
Will put up other pics on a PM for you. Great to meet a fellow fan.
A few more of my BC Rich Eagle, since it made an appearance in the other thread: Showing the neckthrough... it's stained back, with the grain just visible if you try.
Never had the pleasure but knowing how good my Odyssey is, I would guess this is a cracker!

A great Combination! This is one of mine - perhaps out of everything I have, this is one of the best basses I own - Certainly over the last couple of years, the most gigged. Punch, power, depth, warmth and bite!!! More about it here: http://flatericbassandguitar.blogspot.co.uk/2010_06_01_archive.html Scroll down to the bottom. I am currently in the process of doing the same set-up on a Fender Japan, 70's re-issue. Pics, when I get round to it.

As a collector, I came looking for info about a rare bass - I found one on here. . . . belonged originally to. . . . . . RhysP!! Been here ever since.

NBD - Ibanez Blazer '80 BL-700 & '81 BL-700NT fretless
FlatEric replied to andydye's topic in Bass Guitars
It's just possible that I may have to sell one or both to finance an incoming ACG but I'll be holding off as long as possible...
I'd hang on to the earlier one!! -
NBD - Ibanez Blazer '80 BL-700 & '81 BL-700NT fretless
FlatEric replied to andydye's topic in Bass Guitars
Somehow (via a variety of trades and swaps) I've managed to end up with a pair of very lovely but surprisingly different feeling and sounding Ibanez Blazer basses pics to avoid accusations of 'it never happend' The '80 is fretted (as most blazers were) and has a really rather punchy tone even with the flats on, I'd prefer it to any p-bass I've ever tried without question! The '81 is a fretless, a factory fretless, I don't think many were made (so this would be a rarity maybe?), the tone is very sweet, super vintage p with a lovely gentle mwah/swell if you linger on a note much like any fretless p. Both are really solidly made and while not especially light, dont' seem all 'that' heavy to me either. Very pleased with both, now just need to persuade wifey that they 'do different jobs' so I can keep them
You have hit the Mother-load, there! The later Blazer is a Cracker - the 1980 one, is a "A Sleeper!" These "Made for one year" basses are WAY better than many, at ten time the cost. I've got two of them. http://flatericbassandguitar.blogspot.co.uk/2010/08/aria-twins-and-pair-of-blazers.html . . . . and yes, you do need two!
