1.
This, well done Mr Eric!
Thanks. I'm pleased with it. As with anything in print, it isn't exactly what I said but very close. Had some nice messages and positive comments - it is my individual taste and as Lars said "there's a lot of brown!" I had never really thought of it until you look at the group shot but he's right! Maybe I'll get to do Part II, another time - it was a lot of fun to do and there are many that have not even been seen on the blog, yet. . . . . Next year? Cheers.
2. Ohhhhh Nohhhhhhh. Can't make that one, either. Where else are you?
3. Ibby Explorer - a rare thing, indeed - you must have had the other one, in the UK. LOL! Nope, Lars is Lars is Lars! A real larger than life character - great bloke, with so much enthusiasm.
4.
Looks like my old white 70ri CIJ Precision 'Sid' on the back right of the cover photo
Clarky - Hi. I still have "Sid" but that's not him - That is a Parkinson Precision. I'll do Sid next time, if given the chance to do this sort of thing again. Cheers.

10. Hi to all in Basschat world. If anyone is interested. A couple of months back, I was very fortunate to meet up and work with Lars Mullen. He does a monthly feature on guitar collections, as well as a host of other things - the guy never seems to stop!!!!! So, today is the day - Guitar and Bass magazine, featuring some of my collection, is on sale, as they say "in most good quality newsagents. A really great person to work with, who is very passionate about his work. Top bloke! For fans of the unusual, it may be worth a read. Jon - plenty of Far East content, for you. Hope you enjoy. Cheers. Latest Blog post - Story behind the feature: http://flatericbassandguitar.blogspot.co.uk/

A man of great taste - one of my all time greats. Anyone who has a leaning towards this - get it - you will not be disappointed with it. A great bass!! Cheers.
12. So wish I was closer!! Typical - been in Surrey for the last two days! Bah Humbug!! We do a lot of Lizzy numbers and we all love playing them. To see the whole thing, all the way through, is well worth the ticket price. Good luck, hope all goes well and let me know if you ever get to do it again. All the best. Cheers.
13. Hi. I have one of these - it's a really nice medium scale bass. Quite often there are players on here, who are looking for a good medium scale. They wouldn't go wrong with a 400. As with so many instruments, a bit underrated but when players do get their hands on them, I think they are a little surprised and how nice they are to play and the tones that are available. Is it the four in line tuners or the two a side? Cheers.
14. Hi. That certainly is a bit different. I like unique instruments - don't think I'll see another one like that. Would be interested to see some of the others. Cheers.
15. I have one of these. Leave it well alone, trust me - they are great basses - a proper work tool, blend control, mixing two more than adequate pick-ups, great neck - nice weight and balance. Use it as it is. Cheers.
16.
Spectacular! I knew these existed, previously I'd only seen these scraggy little Ebay pics from about 5 years ago: So - how much, and where from? I want one! J.
Easy, Jon - Easy! I suspect you have had a major GAS attack but it will pass. . . . . . . . . . . . . . Perhaps!!!!! 17.
Only song you know with two bassists? Just some fun trivia here (by the way this is an awesome Phil Lynott thread... cool double neck... and for what it's worth I have a double neck guitar/bass that shares the same output - silly, but true) anyhow.... other songs with >1 bass Walk on the wild side and big bottom are two classic examples of 2 or 3 bassist on the same song (3 I think in each case but I'm not honestly sure - although big bottom is only arguably a real song... ;-) My instrumental jazz fusion band Charivari back in the 90s had two bassists for at least two songs in one of our studio albums... of course I wrote both the songs and having been the original bassist before moving to guitar with another bassist joining it was only a matter of time before we had duelling fretless bass stuff going on LoL. Doesn't really count though - nobody knows who I am or who that band LoL donovan had some songs with two bassists, or at least two bass parts... mostly in his big hits that were produced and arranged by John Paul Jones (no surprise there is lots of bass in those tracks ;-) does it count? not sure: much of the early beach boys stuff in the studio (carole Kaye with Brian also playing and sometimes another cat also) Pink Floyd's One Of These Days (David is a heck of a bassist too... back in the waters days they experimented more) Aerosmith - back in the saddle (6 string bass for lead parts!)
Hi. Genuinely interesting stuff but have you found that twin for me yet? Anyone out there with any info? Cheers.
18.
Heatwave used to play at The Trog bar in Hull in the mid 70's, think they were called Chicago Heatwave at that time. Even back then they were obviously destined for better things. They had a local agency managing them, and somehow were still doing working mens club gigs when they had a top 40 single!!
Priceless!! The Trog Bar I'd forgotten about that - went there several times, bit unusual! Anyone got any pics of the place - 35mm, I guess. What is there now - Bar or Tesco??
19. Time to bring this to the top again. I still have had no luck tracking this down. Any info at all, would be great More pics here. http://www.thinlizzyguide.com/tours/dates/1982/820704.htm Stands back for a deluge of posts, with all the info that is out there. . . . Cheers.
20. What a truly great line ups of BC'ers and gear!! Right from the begining of this, I knew I couldn't go - another pressing engagement but it looks like it will be a great day. I went to the Nottingham one, a couple of years ago and had a great time. Good look to all who attend, I'm sure it will be a great day. . . . . . maybe make it next year!
21. For what it's worth. . . . . I have a set of these and through a half decent chorus pedal (mine is a Boss) it sounds great. Budget bass pedals! Time to go all prog!!!!
22. Double "P" basses. . . . . . Just brilliant! Shame you are moving it. . . . . are you sure?????
23. Sweet. From the pics, they look the business. It would be great if more players just had a go with these - Cocco has one of my old Sunburst Blades and as a big fan of the Forty's, I'm sure he would like to see these go to good homes. Top Basses.
24.
Thanks mates! Just for the record, I own one of those "very sought-after" 1966 Jazz bass, typical transition model (dots and binding fingerboard). Well, this 71 is in every respect as great as that other one. Light, resonant, and the PUs sound stunning. Construction-wise is quite simply a perfect Jazz Bass. And the condition is one of the best I have seen.
I have a '72, in much the same sort of condition. When I first played it, I was with a bass friend - he said "what's it like to play?" I said, "it's like it's got magic in it!" If it's anything like mine, the new owner would not be disappointed. Really, really nice. Good luck - hope it goes to a good home and gets played and not put under the bed!! Cheers.
