  1. The Dysfunctionals - typical saturday night pub stuff. Hope you have as good a night as we did!
  2. Had a FANTASTIC gig tonight at O'Neills Leicester - the place was packed otut, everybody up and dancing and singing, they were bouncing off the walls by the end. Prooper "This is why we do it" type of gig. Happy!
  3. Ernie Ball Slinky 5s - 45-130 - £20 EB Slinky single 130 - £5 All unopened and unused Scientifically proven to make you more attractive. £1.50 postage however many you buy. Will trade for EB Cobalt Flats 45-100, La Bella DTFs or 60s Jazz Bass (with cash my way).
  4. The good: I sang lead vocals on two songs and the band were full of praise. The bad: We played the first set to ten people, the second set to six and the last three songs to the barmaid. I'm sure the two aren't linked and I still got paid a hundred quid cash, so.... a mixed bag?
  5. Fun Fact: The Forth suspension bridge is where the term "Suspended Forth" comes from.
  6. One of the true All-Time Greats. Love his style - incredibly musical, technically superb, but only ever played for the song, never to show off his chops. So many good lines to choose from... Barbarism (obviously), This Charming Man, Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now, Paint a Vulgar Picture... but I think The Queen is Dead would be my Desert Island Smiths Bassline. RIP
  7. If you can afford it and you like it, buy it. There ain't no pockets in a shroud!
  8. What's the weight, please?
  9. Flip my Tiddlywinks, that is gorgeous. If the binding and blocks were black, I'd be all over it like a randy shower curtain... If it's still here the next time I'm drunk (Friday) you can expect a PM 🤪
  10. Thanks folks. I ended up getting a decent price on a used Voodoo Lab pedal power 2 from ebay so I went for that. Gotta say, the Harley Benton stuff looks amazing, is decently priced and no-one has a bad word to say about it... I've no doubt it's the business.
  11. I bought Simon's Pedaltrain JR - a perfect transaction. Great item, good price, good comms, he travelled to deliver and was a thoroughly bloody nice bloke all round. Gold Star for Simon!
  12. If you ask Hipshot, they'll tell you. I have a feeling it's a BT-14 which are difficult to find... tried to get one for a Squier P Bass but never did. You'll probably be better off with the drilling holes option!
  13. Bought a Mono Betty strap from Steve. Great item, top comms, nice feller and he has an excellent dog. Cheers!
  14. These are TOP little amps. GLWTS!
  15. I bought a Valeton Overdrive from Jose - comms were great, item was exactly as described, well packaged and sent when he said it would be. Top Basschatter, buy (or sell) with confidence.
  16. StingRay all the way. Love my Sterling Ray35, so obviously I'm GASing for a full fat USA Ray 5... in Honeyburst with a Maple neck please.
  17. Gorgeous. These are fantastic instruments - I love mine. This is a total bargain and I'm jealous of whoever buys it! GLWTS
  18. Just to echo what others have said - know the Bass line, know the lyrics and practice! For tricky syncopated bits, I find it can be useful to slow it right down and literally work out what syllable goes on what note, then speed it up. Another thing that vastly improves your singing is confidence. Easier said than done, but if you go into it thinking "my singing is rubbish", it will be!
  19. For at home playing I loved my Markbass cmd 101 - it's even loud enough for quiet gigs. It was a bit underpowered for the bigger gigs so I traded it for a Markbass 802 - still sounds great at home volumes and loud enough to gig with. You'll need PA support if it's a loud rock band, but for chilled jazz stuff, it's the business.
