  1. Correct, also the custom and deluxe telecasters which were brought in December 72/January 73 I believe, but not the standard teles
  2. Think they generally used Northern American hard ash, also used for baseball bats...
  3. My 75 Jazz is 12.35lbs...I've seen the odd late 70s bass get into the 13lb realm!
  4. This guy imports a load of Fender Japan guitars, quite a few specials https://www.whitstableguitars.co.uk/. No basses listed but he could probably get hold of them.
  5. Interesting move to lacquer over the decal - are you aware that the 62 AVRI Jazz Basses have the waterslide decal sat on top of the lacquer and they didn't clear coat over them? This is period-correct as Fender didn't start lacquering over them until the late 60s, and it's why the edges of the decal were clearly visible! Regardless, lovely job and looks great, good work!
  6. Love this! If only it was in the UK I would be very interested, but that import tax will be crazy 😩...GLWTS!
  7. Probably Maui Blue from the international colour range?
  8. Although definitely rarer, it was possible to get a custom colour JB without a matching headstock. My Fiesta Red 65 has a tort plate and non-painted headstock from factory, and I know Martin Petersen from the Bass Gallery has/had one with identical spec. I've also seen quite a few other examples pop up at reputable vintage Fender retailers. On the PB with matching headstock front, I'm sure Norm's Rare Guitars had one on their YouTube channel a while ago...
  9. So the truss rod works fine then? That was the main thing that was putting me off...Think you still would've beat me to it though! It's real looker 😍 Very jealous! I'm properly on the lookout for a CAR, LPB or Dakota Red 65 or 66 at the moment...Congrats on the purchase!
  10. A bit cheaper on their website https://www.guncottonguitars.com/basses#/1966-fender-precision-bass. Still overpriced though, considering sunburst 66 jazz basses tend to be going for 8-9k from most other price-hiking UK dealers
  11. That's definitely a slap stopper if ever I've seen one!
  12. The control plate reminds me of a Musicman Sabre. It's definitely not stylish or pretty to mine eye regardless of the finish...
  13. For me, Aeroplane is the perfect RHCP tune - catchy "radio-friendly" pop tune and great chorus, but with lovely slap on the verse and a cool bass solo. I still love everything pre-Californication but One Hot Minute is standout for me, I think because I've always really liked Jane's Addiction and Dave Navarro adds a bit of that to the Chilis' sound
  14. It's here! https://ultimatebasses.ca/used Found that while searching ultra amber NS2s! I really want this bass, it's gorgeous 😍 What can I sell? 🤔...
  15. Looks very much like it! I'm not a P man but this makes me consider converting...Absolute beaut! GLWTS
  16. I'm assuming the 925 doesn't have a voltage pump to convert 9v power to 18v? The 924 runs at 18v with the 2x9v batteries, so if the 925's running at 9v then there's going to be a headroom difference which may account for the 924's clear/richer tone?
  17. Yeah, it's defo rosewood and grain and dark colour look very much like Brazilian. Paduak's usually a dark red kinda colour
  18. My 66 Jazz has a lovely dark Brazilian rosewood, rather than Indian, board. I've definitely seen it on some (technically) 67-8 Fender basses too so suspect CBS were using up stock. Beautiful bass though ❤️ GLWTS!
  19. Macari's closed last year mate, you're a bit behind.
  20. I had a Golden Ratio, which I sold on here: I also have a 70s Clone Theory and the GR was identical-sounding, though much quieter and with more flexible control options. Overall though, I just preferred the slightly fatter sound of my original CT, hence the sale... I bought it off reverb and, despite customs charges, the experience was relatively easy. Also, the owner Tim is a very friendly, helpful guy.
  21. Hi @bigmuff69, PMd you re a thumbrest, let me know if possible!
  22. Looks totally legit to me. The separate battery compartment's a newer thing, the older ones have the battery inside the control cavity. Imagine they changed it because it's more of a PITA to unscrew the control plate each time.
  23. It was actually Colin Greenwood from Radiohead that bought Norman's Jazz Bass. Norman mentions it here, halfway down the page https://www.musicradar.com/news/wilko-johnson-and-norman-watt-roy-we-were-packing-places-out-because-we-were-so-different-from-whatever-else-was-happening
  24. Similar to above, I can get really close on my Strymon El Capistan with a couple of repeats and in mode B - dotted 1/8th, then playing the note in a galloping fashion, i.e. da dada dada dada, etc. I reckon you'd be able to get pretty close on any delay pedal that has a dotted 1/8th setting and a bit of modulation. Tap tempo helps as well.
