1. Tarkin and Knightfall in one box mate, only way.
 2. 1991 Red Hot Chili Peppers give it away - actually it's believed Flea recorded this on a Wal MK1, used for the majority of BSSM (see here). You could use Aeroplane in 1996 though, apparently that's a Stingray.
 3.
What makes its tone so different from that of a regular 70s jazz bass with vintage wound pups?
Two main differences from a 70s style Jazz Bass: - Pickups are early/mid 60s voiced (using formvar wire), rather than the more aggressive late 60s/70s (enamel wire) - It has 60s pickup positioning. In 1970 Fender moved the bridge pickup 1/ 4" closer to the bridge, which changed the sound slightly in favour of the high end.
 4. This used to be mine! It is an AWESOME sounding bass. Tempted to buy it back Marinus ;-)
 5. Is this still available? I don't intend to buy it, just curious.
 6. Has the headstock been refinished, and is that a replacement decal if so?
 7.
Nice bass, but....do i miss the original micro tilt for the neck and the neck plate?
Four bolt neckplate is correct for a 73. Three bolt with micro-tilt was introduced in 1974.
 8.
Any analogue or virtual analogue synth with dual oscillators, cross-mod and oscillator sync, a filter that will go into self-oscillation and a separate envelope generator for the filter and the amplifier.
If you're willing to spend a little more I reckon you could get a second hand Korg Ms20 mini, which does all of that...If you're prepared to sacrifice filter ADSR, reckon the Novation Bass Station 2 will cover everything else, and I've seen those go for £200 second hand.
 9.
Evil Empire is one of the best bass tones ever heard on record in my humble opinion.
And that, judging by the inlay and what he was known to play at the time, was a Jazz Bass https://goo.gl/images/z9Glq1 And I agree totally BTW! :-)
 10. This old thread may be of interest http://basschat.co.uk/topic/2785-fernandes-thunderbird-reverse/ Looks like the one!
 11.
another manufacturer that obsesses with marketing to math-metal bassists like Dingwall
I've never seen Leland Sklar playing math metal.
 12.
Damn this isn't helping my GAS haha. Have you experienced any low end loss? If I was to go for a RAT I'd look at the MXR M85 distortion or ideally the Dunwich Volt Thrower.
No low end loss on the Vitriol. If you're looking for a RAT, COG TK-421 is the one, with the LM308. MXR sounds like an even sloppier Rat Tail IME, fizzy and lacking the cut of the original.
 13.
Awesome! So it's good for Muse stuff? Was thinking about a RAT for muse songs but this would do? A few people on talkbass were suggesting that there's low end loss have you found that?
I think it adds a little bass personally, with the LPF on full, but I feel it has a bit of a (BDDI-esque) scoop which may add to that perception. Definitely spot on for the Hyper Music-type tone though. Has the nasal, buzz-saw, almost fuzz type distortion that the Animato has. I tend to find the RAT a bit too brittle or wooly for that particular application.
 14.
Zombie thread rising from the grave, anyone tried one yet?
Yes! Bought one off here last month, from Eddie (Pinball), and I love it! It replaced my Crowella Animato copy, and does a better job (without the need for a blender!). Good low end retention, adds some if anything...Gets really distorted without losing the gnarly top end bite, which my TK-421 can't do.
 15. Marinus bought my Crowella Animated pedal. Always a pleasure to deal with, and highly recommended. Thanks Marinus!
 16. Bought Eddie's Mantic Vitriol. Pleasant communication, and very speedy postage. Pedal is as described, and awesome! Thanks mate :-)
 17. Crowella Animated SOLD For those who aren't aware, this is a spot-on clone of the much coveted Human Gear Animato distortion pedal, most often associated with Chris Wolstenholme of the Muse. Great demo/comparison here from the maker https://www.youtube....h?v=Fpd96Ox8kzo This cost a lot to get over from Australia...It's mint, and comes with the box. Has velcro underneath. I think I've only pressed the footswitch a couple of times because it's been going through the blender! Looking for [s]£95 inc. postage[/s] SOLD Wounded Paw Blender V3 SOLD Latest version. 3-loop parallel blender which is great for retaining a clean bass alongside the effect(s). More details here http://www.woundedpa...&products_id=12 No box, but practically mint. Has velcro underneath. These are going for £165 on Joe's Pedals, and I think that's the only place in the UK that has them... I'm looking for [s]£85 inc. postage[/s] SOLD
 18.
Luckily it is. Although in fact there is a bit of a difference between the positioning of the strings on neck and the bridge pup. Don't know if this is a real issue or not, as it's the first jazz I own and I read a lot of different opinions about this.
This has been the case with every threaded saddle BBOT bridge Jazz Bass that I've seen or own(ed). Not at all unusual, and makes absolutely no sonic difference, but it might nag at one's OCD a bit! ;-)
