For sale, my unique USA FSR Dakota Red 75 re-issue from 2001, excellent condition. This was a one-off prototype bass produced by the Fender USA R&D department for Guitar Centre, to try out Dakota Red on a 1975 style bass with matching headstock (as you know, a non-standard 1975 feature). It plays and sounds better than the two other '70s Jazz Basses I own and is built/finished as well as any custom shop Jazz bass I've tried. Quite a unique serial number of 00099 on the neck-plate. It has an alder body, maple neck and choice rosewood fingerboard with pearl blocks and binding, pencil-thin neck and capable of a very low action without buzz (though I like a medium-high action personally...). Weight is 4.1kg / 9lbs. I have a letter from Michael Doyle at Fender which confirms provenance and the original pickup covers. Unfortunately, I do not have the original case so would come with a Hiscox. Also comes with hangtags, micro-tilt allen key, etc. £1500 inc. postage in the UK

I'd like to know what's going on with the neck plate, if possible? Should have the MM logo on it, as these were still used through the Jackson time and early EB-era (example here http://basschat.co.uk/topic/313721-musicman-stingray-1985-1200/). Is it also possible to get pictures inside the control cavity, of the preamp, pots, etc.?

Are they the 70s wind NJ4s?

My 75 Jazz weighs 12.4lbs, and I've played heavier...All Fenders at that time used the inconsistent northern ash, there wasn't a preference for just using it on P Basses! Keep coming back to look at this though, sounds pretty resonant on the video.

Does this one have the clean blend?

I bought it from Music Ground in Doncaster...It's a Schaller 3D bridge with a base plate. Defo not the original...When I had it it had the standard non-epoxy pre EB preamp of the period, assume that's not changed? Awesome bass, and always wished I'd never sold it...Currently trying to work out if I can buy it back!

Pretty sure the GJ WaT bass tone is a RAT, probably blended with clean? I can get pretty much bang-on this tone with my Jazz Bass and COG Knightfall (OCD derivative) in TK-421 (RAT derivative): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tO92mekW7ts Maybe consider the COG TK or something like the Fuzzrocious Rat Tail that lets you blend in a bit of clean? Probably will get you more in the ball-park, gnarly but not as glassy or fizzy as the DG.

Lovely bass! Bathroom scales trick btw (which you may have already employed!?) - weigh yourself while holding the bass, then just weigh yourself. The difference between the two weights is the weight of your bass! ;-) Apologies if you've already done this though, not intending to be patronising!
