1.
Now have GAS for an Eden WT400 Traveler and an Epifani 4x10 cab (talking myself into believing I can cope with the bulk), that combination is just nice, warm and versatile. Spot on. T
Yeah sorry about that , it's all my fault It is a good combination , and the 410 is one of the lightest around . Just a thanks for Rik for organising it all - though I'm glad no one came into the toilets whilst I was handing over that money to you ... I mean , I know we're all brothers and all , but someone might have got the wrong idea Sorry I didn't get to speak to everyone there , and to those that I did , I can safely say that I've forgotten your names already - memory like a sieve . Name tags and monikers next time I think . Spent some quality time with some great people , what more can you ask for . Though I'd have liked to stay longer , but it's the only day off in the week that I have free , so had to make a bit of a concession to wife and kids . Mainly only tried Dave's Vigier , and got sort of swept up in it a bit . Other nice basses there expensive and cheap , but I'm blinded by graphite through and through . V bass was good fun . Always a pleasure to catch up with His Royal Highness - The Dood of Hethersett , and playing through His rig (probably be different at the next bash ) . It's nice that a TV star can still mix it with the general public . Good to see ya mate . All in all a good day , look forward to the next one .

 3.
That's very decent of you Sir. Sorry I can't stump up the £100 but will be happy to pay my £10 or £12 to you if it doesn't happen or I can't make it in person on the day for some unforeseen reason, as I think we all should, if we've agreed to come along at this stage and a good fellow like Paul is shouldering the risk. Still looking forward to it. Mike
Though if anyone does ring my mobile and the wife answers , don't mention the £100 Oh , and I didn't mean to come across pompous about no shows , 'cause we're all busy and if someone can't make it , they can't - no big deal . If I'm down a bit , I'm down a bit Just thought I'd try and give this a kick up the arse
 4. I'll pay £100 by credit card to the Hall , to confirm the booking , if someone else does the other half (I'm not taking all the risk) Though I'll be a bit pissed off if we get no shows and I'm out of pocket . Will this help to get this moving ? Paul , 07736 169188 .
 5.
It's just too bloody cramped. Any more than 3 punters in the shop and it's like a complicated 18th century dance. How do you try out a rig while standing in a 2 foot wide gangway?
Though in fairness , you could say the same about The Gallery.
 6.
Great playing on 'Wake Me Up' and 'Club Tropicana'.
Ain't that true - awesome player . Tasteful as hell - Careless Whisper and Last Christmas . Whatever you think of the songs , have a listen to the bass playing - tasteful and slow builds from start to finish . Another massively underated player .
 7.
Time seems to be slipping by and yes we do need to get that payment in advance. I'll have a PM with Charic as we somehow need to get the money to him so that we can book the hall, I guess.
Let me know how I can pay , and by when , and I'll do it . I suspect everyone is in agreement . This sort of went all cold , and I don't think anyone knew what was happening with this . Let me know mate , and I'll send it off - Oh and is there anything I can bring . I mean does everyone bring their lunch , or do people club together for a sort of buffet . I know this probably sounds like a knobby question , but after bass , it's my stomach
 8.
In 1989 I bought my dream bass, an Alembic 20th Anniversary, one of 200 worldwide.. It was from the Bass Centre in London and took ages to get. When I plugged it in I noticed the pickups were microphonic, and on one gig the bass actually had feedback. In those days I had to call or fax their factory in the States. I ended up speaking to an advisor for the company, who told me that there had been a batch of faulty pickups. Faulty pickups on a bass of that quality and expense? Why hadn't it been spotted in quality control? I ended up taking it to the Bass Centre - a fair distance from Stoke - only to have their engineer put foam under the pickups, which was no use at all. To cut a long and frustating story short, it took almost 18 months to get replacement pickups. On one of the many occasions I rang the factory, I actually had the female owner of Alembic complain about my frequent calls. I don't think Stanley Clarke would have had that told to him. In a nutshell, it was a beautiful instrument, and sounded lovely and hi-fi (although I could never get a burpy back pickup sound from it), and I still regret selling it ( I bought my Tobias Classic 5 with the proceeds). However, to spend so much money and have such poor backup was extremely disappointing.
I find this quite shocking on a bass costing this much . Piss poor quality control and customer service . Years ago I always dreamed of one (they were THE dream bass when I started in the mid eighties) , but then saw the Stanley Clarke model , and thought - "who in their right mind would make a bass with the worst balance of any bass in the world bar none , and then charge 4 grand for it ?" You can't deny the craftmanship at all . But can anyone here imagine a Goodfellow bass going out with a known fault - Bernie would be horrified . Ditto Rob at Status , Jon at Shuker , Martin at the Gallery , etc etc . Same arguement here probably as the Fodera one a few months ago . If you covert one , have the funds , and really buy into the luthier's vision - then go for it and cherish it . But I can't help thinking that with their reputation and price , there shouldn't be any bass (any at all) , sent out with a fault however large or small .
 9. Didn't think you would let this go Adam . For those who don't know him , he's a good guy to deal with . Have a free yuletide bump my friend .
 10. Spoke to Mark yesterday at around 1pm , and ordered a Great Gramma . He said that it probably wouldn't go out that day as probably too late , and with the weather and all , was unsure when it would be delivered . No problem at all , I thought . It turns up when it turns up . Well , I got a phone call from the wife at 10am today , and it arrived . I can't believe I ordered it yesterday lunchtime , and it arrived before 10am today . Can't say enough really . I suppose I got lucky with the good courier service , but a massive hats off to Mark . I've never had service like this before . Just needs to be said really - Top Bloke
 11. Spoke to Mark today , and ordered a Great Gramma off of him . Though he seemed to know nothing of the Gramma bulk buy deal some of the guys did on here earlier in the year with him , which I thought was strange - not that I was angling or anything . First time I've spoken to him , maybe the last who knows . Would have no hesitation ringing him again - spoke about the weather I think I work for BT , so I'm used to speaking to people on dodgy phone lines - was alright when I spoke to him - do you think I fixed it with BT thought Mark ?
 12.
He's also pooed himself onstage
That's really made my day . Not many things make you laugh out loud when you're on your own at work , but that did .
 13. Gigged a few days after my circumcision . Loading up afterwards , felt the blood trickling down my leg . Sounds worse that it actually was , so I don't requires a medal , just a mention in despatches will do
 14. Around about '83 when I was 14/15 , getting into music , and I used to have an old Vox Phantom kicking around . It had all switches and buttons on it - tremelo , organ type sounds - sky high action - the string tension of a girder . A piece of crap then , and a piece of crap probably now . Sold it for a ton . Dread to think what those idiots in Denmark St would put it up for now . Also had at the same time a little valve amp called a Futurama - another piece of crap - ditto the above . And a Vox Continental Organ kicking around , with sort of draw bar things on - this actually was rather good , but big . Went onto Bass aged 15 , and played through a mighty H/H Bass baby combo - 12" speaker combo that was massive and weighed more , looking back , than a non neo 4x10 . All these old pieces , your Voxes , Selmers , Watkins etc , used to just be lying around everywhere when the cheap good guitars came in around the early to mid 80's . Cast aside as the rubbish that they were . How they've become collectable is beyond me . I mean they look lovely in a quirky type way , and are good to hang up or to look at , but they're hardly viable working gigging tools , the guitars or the amps . Rant over
 15. Years ago , I did a weekender on the Isle Of Wight . Night before , I laid out my speakers , amp , bags and bass . Got picked up , drove down , ferry over , checked in , unloaded - f**k , where's my amp ? My girlfriend at the time had come home from her gig , and left her long trench coat over my Trace . In the rush , I just well , sort of missed it . Had to borrow one of the other bands' amps . But the second day we were on our own , and all there was to use was an old H/H MA100 PA head - truely sh*te . I never thought I'd hear Boogie cabs sound that dreadful , but I did that day . Laugh about it now , but I wasn't popular at all that weekend . Ho Hum .
 16. I run an Eden WT400 with an Epifani 610UL . Previously I ran the amp with an Eden 410XLT (which I've still got) Bought a 410UL from the Gallery (another I've still got) , and went down to buy the EA410 when it first come out . Epi blew it out of the water . Epi 410ul = just over half the weight of the Eden , still seems to sound similar (low end , punchy as hell) - no contest really with the weight issue . Epi 610ul = more of the same , and then some . Still lighter than the Eden 410 . If I could buy two 112UL's and had the money spare , I'd buy without trying . At this level , there is no crap gear , just a difference of opinion , but it goes in "flavours of the month " . A few years back everyone was using Eden , then Epifani , and now Bergantino . It's just a pity that you're so far away from a dealer to be able to try one . I really find them great cabs .

 19. I'm in . Can't be 100% sure as yet , but I'm pretty sure . If I have to bale out for family reasons , I'll still stump up my tenner . Can't be fairer that that . Who's collecting , and how do I pay ?
 20.
Jesus, no wonder Alex stopped posting... I wouldn't be surprised if Bill went the same way.
I'm in no doubt that Alex and Bill know more about this that I will ever get my head around , but Stevie surely has a point . If 4x10 cabs are wrong , then why do people keep buying them . If it sounds crap , then we wouldn't use them , even if the badge says Berg,Epi or whatever .
 21.
Woh Basschatters! Now there's a treat you don't see often. An incredible power amplifier that is very highly regarded around the touring PA network. I owned a D series Powersoft for a while and it really was without a doubt the best power amp I owned. Yet another case of me selling something I never should have! Whhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!
Because we love ya for it ........we've all bought crackin' gear
 22. Eden WT400 amp Eden 410XLT Epifani 410UL Epifani 610UL How I've ended up with 3 cabs , I don't know
 23. The Grapes , in Bury St Edmunds . As usual rammed full . Just a late one as usual here . Finishing at 1:30 am , Hit the sack just after 4 - Rock'n'Roll . Big family kids do 12 noon next day - NOT Rock'n'Roll . Ho Hum .
 24.
Here's a few from days when I had a sofa!
I'm really liking both the Cutlass 1 and 2 , and the pair of Modulus's . Have you still got them ?
