1.
This looks good and Affinity seem to get great reviews. https://m.thomann.de...arch=1480518928
I've played one or two and they were not great.
 2. Jeanette, your guitar is a 1996 Chinese Squier stratocaster made at the Yako plant in Taiwan. It was the least expensive strat that was available at that point. It's not a particularly valuable instrument I'm afraid.
 3. I found it to be a problem with certain amps and mostly if I had the preamp boosted full in all three bands.
 4.
Take your son(and his guitar) amp shopping - it's important that he likes the sound of the amp at the volume level he is going to be using it at.
Just to emphasise the important bit. It took me years to understand why guitars and amps I bought from guitar shops never sounded as good when I got them home.
Gibson 1930's SJ 200 reissue.
love it!
 6. 40W is still pretty loud for home use.
 7. It's an inexpensive take on a Guild Bluesbird... pretty cool if you ask me, a bit different from the usual strat copy starter. I'd be happy to own one. If its neck is straight you can easily upgrade the hardware to make a very nice guitar.
I wasn't expecting much more than £1k
I'd be happy to give you £1k for it.
 9. This. End of thread.
 10.
Can't be a Jazz gig then.....
Gypsy swing.
 11.
I'm not interested in improv when playing live largely cos it seems to bore the tits off most punters.
Just to address this... my band plays jazz and of course it's mostly improvised. Most gigs are busy as hell and full of people dancing and having a great time.
 12.
'This half scale bass exactly one octave above the normal bass register. Normal register can be reached using an octave pedal if you want that. I liked to run it into a guitar amp myself. It's like a bass chopped off at the 12th fret. ' So... it's a 4-string guitar, then?
It has five strings.
 13. Started noodling then gradually stopped playing the notes that sounded wrong.
 14. My main issue with them, I guess, is that there is nothing Gibson about them apart from the headstock. Gibson has got where it is through innovation and by building a brand identity. I should be able to see the body and think "Gibson". This is as lame as an Epiphone stratocaster.
 15. I really like some of the old Gibson basses... I used a Gibson Grabber (or was it a ripper?) for a while that was quite nice. I love the look of the Les Paul Signature bass and the EB2. This though is "meh".
 16. Just the sort of fretwear I wouldn't expect to see on an unused neck
 17.
I agree Bowie probably didnt know any of the theory and just liked the changes- pun intended. It was the major7 choice (or Tom), instead of a dom7 which got me thinking.
Basically there are a few borrowed chords that commonly crop up in pop music that probably have little to do with theoretical knowledge of the writer. bVII is one... others include bIII and bVI.
 18. It's the subtonic chord. bVII. I suspect he used it because it sounded cool.
 19.
Wow, after browsing their website I noticed a strat pick guard up for £1000? Wow!
I couldn't get past the casino
