--- SOLD --- Fender Starcaster with hard case

FYI I bought a 'polar white' one of these from Scheerers in Leeds in 1982, £428 with a non original case. God knows what £428 would be in todays money, but a pint was about 70p IIRC then !!! My first 'proper' bass, and served me well for ages, (still got it too). Nice bases and much underrated. Good luck with the sale.

^^^ What Alex said. I did the same with an old Marshall Jubilee 4 x 10 to play my VBA 400 through, only I don't turn it up full.
Chris, I would tell the band and the singer that his G/F is dishing out abuse over the internet. This is internet bullying. You must tell them now and walk away. The band members who are your friends will understand. Somehow I don't think the singer is your friend. Good luck
This is dead right. Walk away, your girlfriend is far more important than any w***er singer and his bully gf. Double oops, even later to the party. Glad its all working out, and I assume your girlfriend is happy with your support too.
Bit like premiership football, looks like it, smells like it but when you pay close attention it's just a prima-donna haircut and fake pirouette party to cheat your way to three points.
This is fantastic, just my thoughts entirely. Unfortunately, I only get to see this on MOTD these days, as my 25 year season ticket is with Leeds

[sub]I recently had a 'bass-off' with a mate, essentially my Ashdown ABM 500 and 2 1x15 cabs (Ashdown compacts fitted with 3015s) Vs his Marshall VBA and an Ampeg 6x10 with horn. His set up was definitely a lot more full range and 'hi-fi' which suits his down tuning 5 string metal style, mine was more low/mid rocking, slightly distorted thump, to suit my more punky rock n roll 4 string style. After swapping the amps to use each others cabs, we both agreed that both rigs sounded great for the respective situations, but both on full together rattled the f*ck out of his windows. [/sub] [sub]So there we have it, horses for courses.[/sub] [sub]As you can see from my pic, I also havea Marshall VBA and old 4x10, sounds great too, but not as good, portabe or reliable as my Ashdown setup, so its a home rehearsal only bit of kit.[/sub]

This is an absolute steal of an amp, if I didnt already have the 500 watt version, I'd be all over this. Mine was originally in a combo (1 x 15), but was too heavy for my elderly back, so bought an amp sleeve from Ashdown to put it in. I paid £880 ish about 10 years ago, and that was a good price at the time for these quality hand made English amps. Still sounds really great, and prefer it to my Marshall VBA or my mates Ampeg SVT.
To my ears, I tend to find Bartolinis a bit "polite" although they are "warm" too. Others love them for that very characteristic! They can probably calm and tame a very aggressive-sounding bass though.
The bass in my avatar was handbuilt by me, and has Bartolinis in. I just went for them at the time, didnt know about basschat and they were recomended by the luthier who guided me in the build. I agree with the above, definitely warm, certainly warmer than any of my 3 Fender P's (a 71, 83 and 2003), not the most agressive (but not really polite, well not with my thumping JJ Burnell esque bass stlye). Nice though as a change. If I was doing it again, wouldnt bother with the J pup, bit of a superfluous waste imho.

Bass player wanted for new Wakefield band
Bassman Rich replied to Born to Lose's topic in Bassists Wanted
Rich, I've chatted on here to that Kirky lad, seems like a decent bloke, give him a try if you havent already. Ps I thought of you the other day, was at City Varieties (remember Ian Hunter & Jason Scorcher??) watching Rich Hall, and the first pre gig song they played, Jason and The Scorchers version of that Dylan one, sweet Marie. I though 'Jesus Christ, if the next one is 'the name of the tractor is John....DEER, I'm off back to the bar'!!!, I'm sure you'll get the new band to do a few of his songs. -

Wait 20 years, whilst drinking lots of beer and many late night curries, I think you'll find the required padding needed takes care of itself.

Sounds kinda like my se5a did at a band thing last year, I have the vvr master volume mod fitted, but I like the sound best with it (master) up full, and the gain at 2 o clock,so its the output single el84 is pushed into distortion. The mate of mine who has the eaqually good champ clone one uses it for small gigs, but he has the (imho) holy grail of amps, a Lazy J 20 watt. It is simply stunnimg, even better than the previous 'best amp in the world to my ears' the 65 amps tupelo, again a stunning quality amp, and both far superior (again, just my ears and prejudice) to things such as my Fender Hot Rod deluxe, Fender 75, Ashdown artisan 15, Dr Z Maz 8 among others we tried out. Those lazy J things are too good to be described by my limited vocabulary, but I know 2 mates who thought a 9 month waiting list, £600 quid up front and a final price of over £1500 was worth it for the 5e3 fender deluxe derived 1x12 20 ish watt combo.
I've just built an ampmaker PP18 (18 watt WEM/Marshall clode) and its plenty loud enough and very clean. It will (I suspect) get dirty if I turn it up even louder but I haven't had the chance yet. It feels louder than my 30W Silverface Vibrolux Reverb.
Hey there Kirky, I just built a 5 watt ampmaker (the plexi type one, se5a) and I'm in Harrogate too. It sounds great, but probably only for really small gigs without being miked up. Bloody loud through a vintage 30 in the house though.

Bassman Rich replied to tonybassplayer's topic in General Discussion
Bloody Hell, that is one long gig, especially going at it like he id=s in the clip, I was normally knackered after 2 50 minute sets, but that could have been the ale Glad you enjoyed it though, sounds like a great trip. I hope to do the Memphis, Nashville thing this year, I hear thats pretty good too. -
