1. Well my Deko arrived and the neck was HORRIBLY 'S' shaped - I've adjusted it and it's improved a bit but there's still a massive dip in only part of the neck. Overall, I still reckon great VFM and I will be able to get it playable, just not with the action I'd ideally like. In other news, the body grain is something else and is REALLY well matched. I'm impressed! I've already done a rough re-shaping of the headstock (hate that headstock shape) and will be removing the logo (blank headstock FTW) when I come to tidy it properly. Pics will follow
2. Sorry, I don't have any scales but it's deffo not a heavy one, the lightest of the Jazzes that I've had through my hands of late! And urrrrrrford is Hereford. We all speak like that round 'ere
3. Dropped you a PM, fellow Gloucestershire-dweller
4.
Faith every time. All solid woods and most importantly, EVERY Faith guitar has its last QC check done by luthier Patrick Eggle himself. The guy who designed the guitar and provided the training to the guys who constructs them is also the last person to check the guitar before it goes off to the store/customer. If he isn't happy that it represents his name to the best standard, it doesn't go. That's the kind of company I would want to buy my guitar from!
Is that really true? I find it hard to believe given the volumes they shift....? Not calling you a fibber, just wondering how that's really achieved in practise.
5.
this is quite interesting thread http://www.talkbass.com/threads/tb11-preamp-project.669517/
Ooh ta - some reading to do there!
6. Someone also needs a lesson in string topiary ;-)
7. Hi all My Dad and I made an Ampmaker amp over Christmas and absolutely loved the whole experience. We now want to look at other projects and I really fancy making my own on board three band EQ and preamp (perhaps with a couple of switches for extra stuff too). The patient bass that it will end up in is a Cort GB74 so a U-retro would drop straight in but we are dead keen to build something. Does anyone know of any guides plans or kits we could look at? Cheers! James
8. Probably not the sort of thing you're after but for a cheap 'Jack of all trades' amp, I don't think you can beat the TC BH500. It's got dirt if you want it, spanky cleans if you don't - spectra comp for added fatness, tube drive and tweeter tone. Boat loads of tonal options!
9. SOLD This is my VM jazz but now surplus to requirements as I have a jazz coming in on a trade! Maple neck. Blocked and bound - nice frets and great action. Sounds great and the weight is really good - not too heavy at all, very comfy for my regular three hour rehearsals. Only a couple of minor marks, otherwise in LOVELY condition. £175 posted in the UK. I'm in London on business Tuesday so could bring it down with me too... Cheers!
10. Deposit taken. Hi all, My previous BG250 went faulty so I received this yesterday. Only taken out of the box to test it works (it does!) and back in the box as I no longer need it! So, full two year warranty (amp shipped as a replacement from PMT so they have all my details) and basically as new for a tasty discount! Cheers, James
11. Yeah, IMO the design is a bit of a pain - you have to watch SC as it'll cause clipping - 12 o clock is quite high, I use a dab, usually not over about 9 o clock and find that's loads!

Grab an Alto one from Gear4Music. Silly cheap and two year warranty. Done!
13. Almost impossible to prove or disprove but yes a dramatic change in extremes of temperature could cause it but my money would be on a sudden shock - enough to travel down the neck and cause movement enough to break the lacquer. Edit - were the strings detuned? And was the hard case one where the neck is actually put under tension when shut?
14. Smoooooth buyer! Top man, thanks mate!
15. Pics now added (properly, sorry I don't know what happened there!)
16. Could sell it (you'd get about 150) and buy a TC BG250? Not perfect but light and reasonably loud.
17.
When we supported Showaddywaddy a few years ago we were very surprised to see they had a rack of Squiers. Not sure what to make of that but there's a joke in there somewhere i expect.
<punt and dennis> SHOWADEHWADDEH! </punt and dennis> Probably not much call for that joke these days...
18. No problems, but worth a search on here, lots of people with the same experience (and not just them to be fair)
19. Just a note to the seller, do NOT use Parcelforce as regardless of what their site says you will receive no cover at all if the instrument is damaged - regardless or hard case. Oh and they're sh*t too.
20.
I was asking BRX to clarify, please don't speak to me in that way.
It was meant as a friendly dig in the ribs, as I hoped the smilie indicated. If I have caused offence then I offer my apologies.
21. Well the replacement should hopefully get here tomorrow or Friday so fingers crossed! My. BH500 is back but I've got man flu and gavebt been up to testing it.
22. I'm chalking this one up as agree to disagree I'm afraid Milty
