This must be the first pedalboard EVER without a tuner on it! Awesome selection by the way
Always have the tuner on the head!....
Hi guys! .... Even the guys in the band commented on the sound being weak, no balls, etc The next day i spent some time sitting down with it and experimenting with the eq on the head and manage to find something i liked, i took it out again and bang it sounded like i was playing through a small portable hi fi system.
....This happened to me too! I bought 2 AE112's from Mark, after trying against my trusted Peavey T-Max/Trace cabs rig.... In isolation, they sounded much more defined & tonally rich... (also bought a 2nd hand Genz Benz neo-pak head) The reality of working the cabs live, with a full band sound, failed miserably for me! (although a sound engineer at Butlins liked them so much he wanted to mic them rather than DI) ...I just found them weak & too Hi-Fi. I eventually replaced the Bergs with Aguilar GS112's & they instantly worked for me. "I have seen another chap on here buy a set of AE112s and go back to his Aguilar GS112s. Its all down to taste I guess." You may be talking about me here, Musicman20!

Well..... nostalgia central here!... I'm now listening to Shivkumar Sharma & Hariprasad Chaurasia (I used to love an album called Yugal Bandi, played it loads... but found this on tinternet ...similar vibe!) The Indian flute & Santoor work really well together, imho... Gallien Krueger MB 200 - can't believe how good it sounds
bottomfeed replied to nottswarwick's topic in Amps and Cabs
Just wanted to add that I'm very pleased with my MBE cabs, after a little hiccup at the beginning of the journey.... See here: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/164618-new-gk-210mbe-cabs-from-thomann/ It's early days but I think I am liking the Genz Benz head through them (over the GK1001RB) ...although both sound good.. Either way, for the money them MBE's are awesome cabs..... -
Thought I'd update this.... Thomann took the cab back & sent a replacement ... It arrived very swiftly & there are no problems with it at all... This is the 1st time I have bought anything major from them & I'm thoroughly impressed with their service. swift, efficient, polite, good communications.. Can't fault them. The 2 cabs together are sounding great, although, while I waited for the replacement to arrive, I had to do 2 gigs with 1 GK & 1 aggie... which wasn't a bad combination at all! I'm liking using the Genz Benz head though the GK's as well as the 1001RB... Reckon there is a lot of mileage in different tones to be had by the various combinations of the two rigs.... Result!

Craig bought a Bushy Bison of me.... Very swift payment... Easy to deal with, no problems at all... Thanks ..

I need to get £60 clear for this pedal.... (That's a bargain, well worth it!) So I don't want the postage to eat into it... The postage on the compactor I sold recently was £3.50.... Reckon this should be about the same... So if someone is prepared to give me £63.50 (UK), it's yours! (£60 + postage to Belgium, would also be acceptable! )

Not had any experience with 4x10 or 2x12.... but I'm quite impressed with the two 2x10 configuration. GKMBE Just in the process of sorting out sending back the slightly duffer cab of the two I had from Thomann, to be replaced... Not a huge problem, just a dodgy horn switch.... (They are very efficient at sorting problems & it's no expense to me) I'm happy with the cabs... punchy, surprisingly big bottom end!.. & so very light! For the money, can't be beat!

Thanks for the advice guys.... I've just emailed Thomann... I'm going to send the dodgy one back....
Good to hear they worked out. The only thing I can suggest is to open the cab up and see if there is a loose connection. Personally I would want it fixed, either do it myself or get it replaced. This would be mainly to help the resale value further down the line but also it would bug the hell out of me, whether I wanted to use the horn or not.
Yeah, you've got a point.... Maybe I should just send the one cab back anyway... You know what it's like when you get a feeling that something is a bit of a duffer... Never seem to be able to have full confidence in it....

Update: Did a wedding with them last night.... I was suitably impressed!... It wasn't a great room acoustically, which was a good place to trial them... Very pleased with the sound.. punchy, plenty bottom end, Stack much closer to my ears, so if things got a bit dense I could lean back & hear myself well. Good spread of bass sound around the stage too... Me likey! What to do next?... The horn seems to have cured itself of the intermittent problem... I keep them both off anyway... so as long as I don't touch the switch, I don't envisage it bothering me. But if I chose to use the horn in the future, will there be a problem? On advice of my drummer, I've just tried swapping the plastic corners over on the one cab... & the wobble is virtually gone, if I stack them one way... if I swap them, the wobble is back though... but it looks like it's the plastic feet that are causing it, not a badly put together box... Maybe I can swap more corners & cure it completely? I don't think the small scuff mark is enough justification to send back... more will inevitably appear over time anyway... Two 2x10 GK cabs for £500, that tick most of the boxes for me is indeed a bargain! I've ordered some covers from Roqsolid, these are gunna be keepers...

Just bought a BBE Opto Stomp Compressor from Jack (Currrls) ... Good communication, very easy to deal with, prompt delivery.. Everything went very smoothly... Thoroughly recommend for any future dealings... Thanks Jack
