1. Any basses in my sig that take your fancy?
2. I have an EHX Metal Muff with top boost, EHX Bass muff Pi, and a Modtone Dynadrive that I could offer in p\x.
3. For sale, boxed and in excellent condition. Price will include a new battery and UK postage.
4. I may well be wrong, but didn't Matsumoku fit DiMarzio Model P pick ups into a lot of their basses? These definatly look alot like them with the adjustable polepieces. Bargain for somebody at £19 if they are.
5. Although not an actual NIN album, I would highly recommend giving the "Natural Born Killers" soundtrack a listen. Another well put together Trent Reznor project.
6. Hey, where in Dorset are you. Possibly interested if I can find some funds.
7. If you like the Jaguar and the P/J layout, why not try the Squier VM? Very light and comes in at less than half your budget.
8. Any chance of posting? If so, I'd be very interested.
9. Any of the Somerset contingent going to this tomorrow night. Looking forward to seeing The Blockheads for the first time. http://www.thegodneygathering.com/
10.
blimey missus, that's a bit nice.
Thanks, not quite a Shuker, but not bad for an Encore Just out of interest, how did you get the finish on the body of that Shuker. Would love to do something like that one day.
11. This is my recently re-finished Encore LTD83. More pics in the build diaries thread.
12. So after ten months or so since starting this thread.......it's finished, well, as near as dammit. I cannot put into words how happy I am with this bass. It looks, plays, and sounds amazing (imho), So, what did I do since the last post? First off I screened all the cavitys with graphite paint, a lot neater and a lot easier to use than copper tape, though I did still use tape on the rear of the pickguard. All the cavity screening has worked a treat, there is no unwanted noise whatsoever. The pickguard itself was a job and a half for Howard. I went for carbon fibre in the end and it was a bugger to work with, so much so that Howard said he would never work with it again, so thank you very much Howard for your perseverance, it really makes the bass look fantastic. On to the neck, this had a light rub down to clean off the years of grime that had built up, then the headstock was painted to match the body. I had a major problem getting the decal on so in the end just decided to ditch it and leave it blank. Once the headstock was painted, I gave the neck a few coats of danish oil, then set about drilling new holes to take some treaded brass inserts. These would turn the neck into a proper "bolt-on" and would make life easier as the neck has to come off to adjust the trussrod. Next it was just a case of soldering the electrics and putting it all back together. There are still a couple of little jobs to do, but nothing that can't wait. So here are some pics, hope you like what I've done with her and would love to hear any feedback.
13. This will be of absolutly no interest to 99% of you, but since I've read about Lemmy's health issues and found out he had an ICD ( Implantable Cardioverter Defibrilator) fitted last year, I've been wondering how he's managing with playing live. I had one of these fitted about three years ago and one of the major problems you have to deal with is that you can't be near strong magnetic forces. This means avoiding things like airport scanners, those anti-theft gates in shop doorways, and of course speakers. I was told that even if I'm just watching a gig, I shouldn't stand too near any speaker stacks as I run the risk of altering my units settings which could mean either the unit may not work if needed, the pacemaker part of the unit could change my heart rate, or worst case scenario, I could recieve an electric shock directly to my heart when I dont need one. Now in general use with my 1 x 15 cab I'm pretty much ok as I can keep a reasonable distance from it, but onstage with a massive sound system I'm not sure how Lemmy would get around this. Any thoughts?
14.
Body pics coming soon
Any pics yet, looking forward to seeing this.
15. Jake Bugg - Jake Bugg Slipknot - Antennas To Hell REM -Monster Ocean Colour Scene - Marchin' Already
16. I'm no expert, but looking at the routing, white pick-up covers, string-tree and the fact that the scratchplate doesn't allow access to the trussrod, it appears too be very similer to all the early 90's Encores I've owned, and if so, these are bloody good basses for the money. I'd suggest a trip to the paint section of Halfords and see what takes your fancy.
17.
Primarily to keep the build cost down although I'm now thinking hipshots all round would be better
I guess it depends on how "anal" you are about these things. If it's something that's gonna bother you at a later date then probably best to "do it once, do it right", rather than have to mess about with it again further down the line. Me, I'm a bugger for the details, which is why my latest Encore rebuild is taking me so long and costing me an arm and a leg, but in the end, I know I won't have to take it to bits and change anything once it's done.
18. This looks really interesting, will be keeping an eye on this thread. One question though, why would you choose to have three Gotoh tuners and a Hipshot D-Tuner, why not just have a full set of Hipshots so they all match?
19. You may find that you're actually pleasently surprised by the Westfield's stock pick-ups. I had one a couple of years back and it sounded very P like.
