1. Cheers Andy, It's all matching ....... bass front, headstock and cover.
2.
Lovely work! Very impressive outcome. RK
Must agree, fantastic stuff.
3. Well a few runs through the planer later ... Looks a wee bit better Sharpened up the fret saw and got the fret slots cut That's it for this weekend. Ian PS Seen the day when I would attack that with a hand plane Norris ! The gentle (ahem) hum of an electric planer is just as good for the soul. at my age anyway
4. No brainer ...it's got to be the figured stuff.
5. That's a pretty special guitar, truly handcrafted and a fantastic blog. I have a set of those KA pickups myself from an old Manson. Can't wait to hear the rest of the story .......
6. This looks very early for Tom, his later stuff is awfully nice.
7. Got on with a few jobs while waiting for the FB... Routed out control and battery cavities. Made the cover. Hogged out the headstock & Drilled the oles.. This just arrived .. Used a new supplier who's had a few mentions on here. This was the most expensive of the 3 boards i have bought lately of the same stuff (other suppliers). Looks ok from this angle bit rough maybe.. Closer look and you can see it's never been near a plane. Sawn on all sides/faces, and it's 13mm thick ! Next to the neck blank... I've never received an FB blank like it, usually there is at least 1 planed face.. Thankfully i can deal with it but very disappointed with what was an expensive blank in the first place. So make sure you check before you buy folks, especially if you dont have a planer/thicknesser.. Ian
8. Well aye ...but that just would expose my dodgy playing..... . I don't have anything other than a cellphone to record with so not sure the sound quality would do any favours. I might give it a try...not as if i'm trying to market it. Ian
9. Looks pretty cool, agree with grangur... a complete set would be brill. I'm off to a steampunk festival soon (it's the kids..they want to see Steam Powered Giraffe).. would go down well there. Ian
10. Many thanks for the comments fellows You should hear the fretless, it can go from a deep DB to serious Mwaaaahh and it's all in the fingers, never played such a responsive bass. It would be good to take it to a bash and see what other folks think, i generally don't comment much on 'em after they are done cause it's difficult to know if you are being subjective or not. 11. Scary Stuff m8! Nice job though:) Wonder how he got those pots in there first time round? Ian

14. Aye that's another coffee table denied This will be a (nearly identical) twin for this fretless. Keeping up the theme .....both have tops with wood from India.
15. I was just thinking how quiet it's been of late, thought Mrs Andy had reclaimed the patio for the summer . Looking forward to them both. Ian
16. So stuck em together and added a bit of bling on top... Hacked out the shape.. And that's as far as i can go,Still struggling for some pau ferro*. Need a new fret saw too, my old one( of twenty years) is officially blunt! *update -- found some Ian
17. Next up body wood. This is going to be a solid body. Scored something a wee bit sweet via south america , ecologically sourced too. Bookmatched, qsawn and a bit of ripple in the grain as a bonus....,result bit thick mind ,,, IanM
