  1. I'd move back to Texas in a heartbeat if I could.
  2. US $700/780 for 4/5. If there was a 6 in sparkly pink, I might be tempted.
  3. From the same email I mentioned above, as I was asking about a 6 string bass, which in typical Ibanez (and Cort) style uses the 5 string dimensioned PUs for the 6s. So mebbe the router will have to come out. The 6-string size would be suitable probably, but that one will be 118mm long with an 87.6mm magnet length. I wouldn't fuss about the 1mm differences mentioned until I was trying to fit the pickups into the cavity as the slight numerical differences I see all over the place re these PUs are likely conversion rounding errors and the EMGs are actually accurate to the Bart dimensions as it would make little sense for EMG to do anything else. Strange that these ExW PUs still aren't on the EMG site.
  4. Alex from EMG told me this a while back when I asked, so you'll need to make sure the string width is compatible. The version that is 108mm is the 5-string version which has a magnet length of 77.5 mm.
  5. Straight into S/C. DI's that aren't clean are just another FX unit and I already have those. I want a DI to just be able to drive any reasonable load, to any reasonable level with no signature.
  6. Just got one of these this arvo in the mail. Really busy tonight and tomorrow, so I'm just going to charge it fully and wait until Sunday to spend some time with it. I wasn't going to buy one, but it was discounted on ebay, I tried another code I thought was expired, but it took it, and my PP acct had a few $ in it from a minor partial refund for another item so it cost $A61 out of pocket, or 29.60UKP.
  7. How is that really any different from them being made in Mexico (or Japan) for decades? From my understanding* the Indo factories are much more modern in equipment than at least the Mex one. By the same logic, why is my superb PRS SE guitar just a decal too? * Phil McKnight is doing a tour of the huge Cort factory in the next couple of weeks, so we'll see that one first hand.
  8. Have EMG indicated to you whether they'll also be available in standard EMG shell sizes? Definitely ordering a set of E5W at a minimum, post my Oct holiday and am wondering if the Cort A6 or BTB should get a mild rout for a set of the 6s too.
  9. Sound pretty good, and the magnetic viewer film results are interesting to nerds like me too.
  10. The two headless 5s are beautiful, and the white one sounds great in the earlier clip.
  11. But if there must be a PG, then I'd rather it was clear over a woodgrain.
  12. That's awesome. Thanks so much for doing that. It's smaller than a J and looks closer to the SR, maybe about the same as my A6. I'll make it a point to try one when I'm in the area near the dealer soon.
  13. Out of curiosity, how is the body size on these? Is it closer to the Ibanez SR or to a Jazz bass?
  14. I saw the thread, but it's not really what I'd like. Something more like a standard 34" bass with more conventional spacing. I already have a couple of 30" 6 string basses, such as the SRC6 in my avatar. Over the years, I've seen a couple of boutiques and even a CS Warwick (IIRC) and maybe an Alembic, nothing else. Closest 'conventional' bass is the 10 string Deans.
  15. @warwickhunt I get what you're saying about the different ways of fingering, I'd simply never considered it.
  16. I'm still waiting to see how the M6-6 comes out. The P6-5 above is a neat looking instrument, for an FSO.
  17. As someone who's never played a 12, the order of the strings was something I'd never considered, either tonally or playing feel. Interesting, thanks guys. Sidebar comment: I'd love a 12 with a 6x2 arrangement.
  18. Alembic Series 2. Why? I like spending other people's money.
  19. I have never done that. It was vodka... Congrats on the bass and I hope you love it and bond with it.
  20. I play predominantly 6 string basses these days and have several, including the GSR256B, which is basically the same as the current 206, but with a different preamp. I've had it since 2017 and gigged with it and it was great. Where I live is coastal and the weather varies a lot and the neck has been dead stable and I've had no issues with it. It was my first 6 string so I didn't want to spend a lot, and though I have a few more 'better' ones now it still gets used (it's on a stand beside my bed as I type this) and I have no trouble recommending it, or the 200 in your case. If you like the feel of the Ibanez, buy it, it will las you a long, long time. The whole 'Ibanez is "only for rock and metal"' is a lot of crap as I use mine for everything. Also ignore the people telling you you must have a Fender as they fell like plating a dining table compared to the Ibby. I have 5 other Soundgears, a BTB, an RB (1983 build) and an ATK and have owned and played Ibanez basses and guitars since 83, probably owning 50 or more in that time, out of more than 200 instruments in total and have no trouble in recommending them. Buy new from a store to get back up; second hand can be cheaper but it's also a bit of a risk unless you know what to look for and if you have a friend who's experienced get them, or better still, lean on the store to set it up. It will likely be fine out of the box, but a second set of eyes is good. Some small adjustments can make a world of difference to how it feels and plays. An amp isn't necessary these days and something like the Soniccake Pocket Master to be able to hear yourself, and a decent tuner. Here's mine, just so you know I actually have it, with some marks from actually using it out.
  21. I found it interesting and I'll give more detailed opinions later.
  22. Definitely interested, definitely broke at the moment due to my car needing some exxy repairs right now. My friend has a 5 axis CNC on the way and we've been sketching some body ideas over the weekend. I also saw some headless 5 necks. Perhaps some of the children may need to be sold off for medical experimentation...
  23. The wenge/maple NT, rather than the maple/walnut veneer laminate version the two years before. Probably won't make any difference tonally or structurally, but it sure looks sexy and would look good next to my Cort A5 Ultra Ash and if I'm gonna have to import one, I might as well wait for the one I want. For the same reason, I'd like a BTB1826/1906 too. I have a BTB846v that's waiting to become a large Bass VI, strung E-E, just need to custom order the strings, and because it has 16.5mm spacing, the neck feels very similar to the SRs. The other BTB 6 and 7 I mentioned are from a local who's looking to move them along, and being in the middle of nowhere, they're hard to sell - also because of the string counts. I have some expensive car repairs to fund in the short term, but he's in no hurry.
