1. Getting a bit clearer thanks. I did have a plan to buy a decent preamp at a later stage but can't really justify the outlay at the moment when I'm buying a power amp & cabs too.
2. It's all Klingon to me
3.
Hey chap! to be honest.. I'd check to make sure the EBS microbass is able to supply enough signal to drive the poweramp effectively. (true line level output, that is) I used to use a P5000 in a metal band and had enough volume. (Used an Ampeg SVP to drive it) The Yammy amps are great.
Thanks Dood, will you have a look at this (EBS Microbass II spec) and tell me if it's ok... 4. I'm going through the process of changing my rig at the moment and I borrowed a Yamaha PS5000 power amp and an Epifani UL310 the other night for a gig. I used my EBS Microbass II for the preamp got one of the best, tightest, punchiest bass sounds I've ever had. I've decided I want to go down this route now rather than buy a new head because I love the tones I get with the EBS and want the flexibility a power amp offers (ohm-wise) when choosing and using different cabs. I've read great things about the Yammy power amps and they're relatively inexpensive but I don't think this particular amp was quite powerful enough. We were only doing a fairly small pub and I had the amp running at about 80% which makes me wonder about buying the next model up - the PS7000 for the extra headroom it'd give me. Before I do, has anyone got any advice / suggestions / recommendations for other amps etc. because I know very little about power amps. Thanks in advance
5.
Nice one Homer. From your profile I see that you can give me a couple of years. BTW, do you think there is any significance in the fact that we both are using precisions. Old guy + Precision - an inevitable path!
Yeh - old gits & Precisions - it reminds me of a Police song...'Born in the 50s'
6. I bet I'm older than you Hutton but hey, we're still doing it aren't we? No fancy tricks I'm afraid - I used to be able to play a Strat behind my back and with my teeth too when I had some but these days playing behind my back would require two weeks in traction. Here's a couple taken a few weeks ago in Blackpool...
7. My favourite shop, not much bass gear but great service, great prices - need I say more.
8. Yeh, it's my old 5 string HS. I swapped with Peter for the Sterling - despite how much i loved the Sterling because I didn't see the point of having 3 fretted 4s. I thought I'd get a 5 again purely for indulgence and I must say I'm loving it.
9. Here's my Lakkie - I've sold the J-Retro since taking this pic and it's passive again with standard jazz knobs. This is the same bass with a black cherry tort pickguard from Jeannie's. This used to be mine and gawd I miss it
10. Good idea mate - bring on the Bongo
11.
I should be seeing them in Chorley this weekend. Im still to hear the rig live, must do that while I have the chance
Probably gonna give the Bongo a run out on Saturday - I'm feeling saucy.
12. You sneaked a picture!!! If I'd known you were going to do that I'd have combed my hair ;-)
13. About 6 months old, slight cosmetic stuff (scratches on back / chrome on logo etc) but otherwise as new. Cost me £539 - you can have it for £300 + shipping or collect / meet if you prefer. Would swap for a good 2x10 with cash from me. Looks and sounds good with my 112 which is also for sale on here.
14. I'm confused - this thread wasn't there when I posted mine
15. A good issue IMHO and our own silverfoxnik on page 82 too
16.
Very possibly!! What does it look like? My band members won't be happy with the looks, but I'm not anti-bongo myself, so bugger em!
A lot like this...
17.
Homer do you accept bodily parts? i REALLY want that bongo!
Female body parts are perfectly acceptable forms of currency ste_m3
18. Bongo 5HS maybe?
19. GB - gorgeous bass, nice one Andy.
20. Damn IT geeks, it's blocked - I'll have to wait until I get home to listen. Looking forward to hearing mine with its new Wizard Thumper on Christmas Day.
21. There's still time for me to own a Modulus Chris but this one's a bit too glittery for me
