1. Bloody hell Dave - what a rig. I feel so inadequate.
I've finally got all the bits. Sounds very lush. I can't wait to gig it. Orange AD200B Bergantino NV610 (I'll take a better picture sometime.)
2.
I'm thinking of kidnapping Alex's Drummer. Let me know if you want a piece of the action Al. PS Don't tell anyone....
Sounds like a plan - so long as there's no sloppy seconds
3. There must be something in the water - we're drummerless at the moment - did a gig yesterday with a f*cking conga player and boy was that a challenge Having a hard time finding a repacement too.
4. A bit of vibration never did anything any harm - at least that's what the missus told me.
5. You're in a good place gear-wise Andy. Lovely stuff.
6. I guess we've been spoilt Mike - as you know the original drummer - big Mick teaches drums professionally and Zoe, who's just left was even better than him so it's not gonna be easy to find someone TBH. We're doing a charidee gig on Sunday with a conga player for f***'s sake
7. Bump tish Coupla uninspiring auditions - - getting nervous now...is the best soul band in the NW becoming a trio?
8. Sean, As a matter of interest, was my 55-01 the first Lakkie you owned? It was the bass that turned me onto 'em in a big way. Sorry to hijack the thread Dusty - nice collection by the way.
9. I play in a soul/motown band and whenever I use a Precision, the groans from the rest of the band are audible - especially if it has flats on it. They like the sound of a Jazz - f*cking weirdos.
10. The only basses I've ever owned that I was pleased with the sound in every room I played were my two Bongos.
11. I love a bit of country - I'm a big fan of Brad Paisley.
12.
Hey guys, does anyone have or have you experienced the Sadowsky outboard preamp/di pedal? I'm ordering a new American Standard Precision soon & was thinking of the Sadowsky outboard pre instead of messing with the bass adding preamps, etc.
I understand now Have you thought about the EBS Microbass II ? It does what you need superbly.
13. I've dusted off my Korg Pandora and been plonking away on my new Duck Dunn while she watches junk telly. I've really grown to love the Motown setting on it and I'm pretty sure it's just a reverb effect with some compression. It's got me thinking that maybe I'll use a bit of reverb and try to recreate that patch for my live sound. I know I could just use the Korg but it's not really practicable. Does anyone use a bit of reverb on their stage sound and if so, what reverb pedals would you recommend?
14. Not being funny but why don't you just but a Sadowsky?
15. People are always queuing up for a P.
16. We did our Elvis gig last night - 'bout 300 people there from all walks of life - Hells Angels too. Storming night, severe hangover this morning coupled with the worry that the rest of the band want to do the Elvis thing semi-permanently. A little less constipation if you please....
17. Sheesh - we'll be having a sleepover next
18. I wish it was homer's hamer beautiful.
19. I didn't say how highly I valued them
20. I value your opinions Matt.
21. I sympathise completely but I would have stuck with the Epifani - everything from there is downhill IME/HO. Good luck Andy
22. I've had one of these - superb instrument and a fine example.
23.
Alarmed to hear some of the comments here regarding the Duck Dunn as I've been Gassing for one for nearly a year now and finaly got my hands on one (other than OBBM's) on saturday in Brighton.
Hi Dusty, there's nothing wrong with the DD - it's a superb bass and good value for money. It does what it was designed to do and because of the quality of construction and components used, will continue to do so without any problems for a long long time. Wait 'til you here it in the mix playing with your band - you'll be very happy.
24. Much prefer PMT - proper store that. I visit PMT every time I'm passing Brum.
25. I've always like CAR with an 'aged' scratchplate but I think it looks absolutely bloody awful with a plain white one. I had a look at mine last night Matt - particularly the neck wood and mine's not 'pasty' - it's about the same shade as a new Fender / 'Ray and it's got a very pleasant grain to it. The finish on the body is flawless, the neck joint is perfect, the components are top drawer and it has a very solid feel to it. As you know Matt, I've had a few basses including several Laklands, Musicmen and Fenders, the finish on mine and this is as good as anything I've owned and although I loved it dearly, my departed Mex P (and it was a good one) just wasn't in the same league. I guess the one you saw was a bad example.
