1. Here ya go
No need to be flippant. Jimi Hendrix Experience IMHO sound crap. They have great songs, fantastic ability, fiendish riffs, and very cool tone, but the overall sound is thin. If they were around today, i'm sure Jimi would be begging me to come and sort out the sound. ( )
2. I've never understood why people feel the need to ram their musical opinions down other peoples throats and then trash everything else ad nauseum. It's a waste of time. Nor do I understand why people feel the need to talk in derisory terms about old people and their musical tastes (not just in this thread bilbo but it goes on a lot these days on this forum). I'd just like to say to those people, the ones who rubbish Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, Elvis etc etc, if you're lucky, you'll all be old one day and you'll probably grow old listening to the music you listen to now and then you'll have to suffer the jibes and ill-informed comments of all those little oiks who think they know better. It's a shame to have to wait so long to realise you're opinion is no more valid than anybody elses. OK - I'll shut up now and eat my lard sandwiches.
3. This would be a perfect partner for my identical DJ4 but you know what I'm like with 5s Dave
4.
Yeah.....but its Elvis. I don't care how much you paid me. It's Elvis
I would have agreed with you a few days ago but not any more
5. Clear ones protect the bass while showing the grain underneath and this bass is a particularly nice piece of wood.
6. I’ve been feeling really gloomy lately about the band and the future of live music in general . You know the stuff - dwindling audiences and fewer gigs etc., which I as an industrial grade pessimist can’t help thinking will get even worse if the government lowers the drink driving limit as proposed. Then there’s the drummer, who joined the band knowing we like to go out at least once a week but has taken it upon herself – while the rest of us are out looking for gigs, to fill most of the remaining blank weekends in our 2008 gig diary with trips away on the piss with her mates. We’ve lost three gigs in the last month – good ones too (one an all-female party ) because of her being away and we’ve had to find a stand in drummer for a gig next week and I’m thinking to myself - I can’t be doing with all this. Last night however, was a revelation and lifted my spirits so high, I nearly soiled myself . Our singer’s Dad is 60 in May and he’s having a bit of a do to celebrate at our local pub. He’s Elvis mad and was hoping to have a certain Elvis impersonator (who did his 50th), do the gig but sadly, the guy ate too many hamburgers and died. So, we thought we’d do it ourselves and just turn up unannounced on the night changing the band name to Nice Guy Elvis – a brilliant idea. We’re gonna dress up reflecting various phases of Elvis’ past – the singer’s doing the GI era and I’m doing the fat, bloated not long to go period . Last night we had our first rehearsal (sans drummer of course – she was away) and we had a fantastic time just with guitar, bass and vocals. We really got an authentic sound – me on my P with flats and the guitarist with a battered old Tele into an old reverby combo and the singer who does a brilliant Elvis voice. Drums & percussion were provided by tapping on tables, slapping strings and stamping feet. We boxed off eight songs from scratch and had the time of our lives – so much so, we’re thinking of doing it as a sideline to the soul band thang . Just goes to show that when your in a lousy situation and all you want to do is hang up yer boots, there’s always a chance that something good will happen to revitalise your interest and put thoughts of retirement on hold.
7.
Just picked this Sterling up from Peter (top guy), which I believe was also formerly in the hands of Homer (almost easier to name the basses he hasn't owned ) and I now have the dilemma of pick-guards!
Cheeky monkey I was toying with the idea of a see through one but thought it would spoil the look somehow. I was thinking of getting one made in a matt black (sort of like the pup cover) or a vintage white pearl but hey ho, something else came up and it went. Nicest smelling bass I've ever owned.
I've a strange feeling that I did put a white pearl on it at one time. Homer will testify. I think I did and I think I preferred it. Clear would look good too but I'd go white pearl, again Peter
I never saw it with a pearl on Peter, it was always white. Superb bass.
8. Me too
9. As far as I know, the hole itself doesn't have a thread - it's the thing that slides over the hole that has the thread. I just used some small bolts secured (with some difficulty) with small nuts.
10. Sod it - I just bought some nuts and bolts from B&Q, they seem to do the job.
11.
Not seen it over here, but it's abut $350 in the states
Fffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff*** that, I can buy 200 years worth of batteries for less than that but thanks for the advice clauster.
Disclaimer - it won't harm your Compulator to use the boss, you just won't be getting the best out of your high-end compressor pedal.
I'm sure that I'll be the weakest link in any musical chain I think I'll use batteries and the Boss/Diago thing as back up, but thanks again
12. Quality Steve Jealous of Preston.
13. Any recommendations for a good power supply clauster?
14. So my serious compressor needs a serious power supply or serious batteries? This is getting serious
15.
The Demeter is a serious compressor! I wouldn't use something as "budget" as the Boss supply with it. Unless you can invest in a serious adapter, just run it on batteries (unless you've got a lot of pedals in which case...Buy a serious pawer supply).
A serious power supply? Boss not good enough then? Anyways - I've ordered a couple of the Diago Blue adaptors - should be here today.
16. Mine would be a Tom Anderson Tele
17.
Got mine on hold from local music shop.USA black, white plate, maple 'board,S1.Brand new!!!My 40th present to ME
Is it an evil Precision? - Let me know when you get it Mick and I'll bring mine around.
18. Cheers for that Simon - I've just acquired an LMK in a trade and initial impressions are good. I haven't gigged with it yet but I used to use a LMII so it will be interesting to compare when I do. I need to master changing channels before I do
19. Loving that Bob Glaub Scoop
20. This was my favourite bass of all time - like a complete arsewipe I sold it and have regretted it ever since.
21. T-Rex Comp Nova is a good sub-£100 jobby - sh*tty colour though.
22. We're booked at £750 (3 times the average pub fee). Last year we got £900 and two years before that £1300, is there a message in that?
23. Does anyone know where I can buy some mounting bolts etc for an SKB rack case?
24. Yep - I can vouch for the bass being an absolute stunner and that it's in as-new condition. Nick's a gent - buy with confidence.
