1.
I'm really glad you have transformed the DD Alan, will you be gigging the beast tomorrow night? Peter
I'll probably use it first set and see how it sounds. Funny acoustics in Dickie Doodles, what with the shape of the room and the lack of furnishings (and probably people ). Be good to see you mate.
2. Hi Joe, sorry I forgot to get back to you didn't I - it's routed for a P pup so a Dark Star insertion would require a bit of woodwork.
3.
Intriguing - I thought the whole USP of the Skyline series was that they were essentially manufactured in Korea, but taken back to the good ol' US of A to have the electrics fitted properly!
They are indeed and I'm sure Lakland are ashamed to be the only bass manufacturer to occasionally f*ck up.
Incidentally, I recently bought a Skyline 'Bob Glaub' from another BassChatter. Absolutely lovely, but when I looked into installing a Hipshot Drop-D tuner I discovered that the Hipshots fitted as standard are actually also made under licence in Korea, and are different/inferior to the US-made ones.
You expect the parts on an £800 bass to be identical to the ones on a bass costing more than twice as much? That's intriguing.
4. Yeh - a Skyline it is
5. I used to have one of these - absolutely lovely basses and if this is in the same condition as mine was, it's a big bargain..
6. You were right all along Matt ....pah f*cking robots
7. There I was fitting a new pickguard to the DD and out drops the tone pot - attached to nothing. Then I think ahhhhhh, that's why the tone pot seemed to do bugger all. So I rang Dan the man, and told him my problem and enquired where the green wire coming out of the tone pot goes, so he told me. A quick solder later - I plugged in the bass and wow...tone control!!! I've read somewhere - can't remember where that someone else said their tone pot did bugger all too and if you're reading this, rip off the pickguard and see if it's wired to the volume pot.
8. Dickie Doodles Friday Pedro
9. Best try the For Sale Section?
10. Very nice Stephen. As a matter of interest, what did you do to "match the Markbass and the Schroeder"? - EQ tweak?
11. I'm technically challenged and a lazy tw*t to boot so I thought I'd ask first before taking a screwdriver to it. Even if I can see what it is, I still have to decide whether to repair or replace.
12. The customer is king.
13. The tweeter on my Bergantino HT112 doesn't work any more - I've been offered a brand new one from Bergantino to fit myself for £70 or they can repair it with a new diaphragm for £25. What would you do?
14. I've played this and it gave me instant fretless GAS - it's a beautiful bass and a bargain at that price too.
15. This bass is the poodles plums and Nick's a gentleman - I wish I had the money
16.
Interesting stuff guys thank you. Homer - how do you think they compare to the Aguilar's you had then? I did, and still do love the sound of them! They're wicked cabs!
Not quite as deep in the bottom as the Aggies - which probably sounded better soloed, but to my ears the Bergs sound better in the mix cos they're not as shy in the mids.
17.
I wonder if we would be quite so eager defend the origional poster if it wern't for the fact thats she's are rather attractive female, just a thought for us machos out there!
Nope.
18. Friday was a localish gig in what used to be a rough dive in Leyland. Turned out ok - not many people in but the ones that were there were up for it and enjoyed themselves. A good night. Last night was at a place called Lane Ends in Wesham near Blackpool. Tiny little alcove for the band to play in facing the bar. PA speakers 4 ft from the bar, had to keep the volume down. Five or six people leaning against said bar - two or three facing us the rest facing away - two with nice bottoms - one of them female so that became the focus of my attention for the evening. Went down well, the man wants us back - hope aforementioned female bottom belongs to a regular punter otherwise forget it.
19.
Go to one of his gigs and give him a live review.
Let's all go...it'd be like a Basschat Bash - but slightly different cos it'd be him getting bashed
20.
Homer, send the girls round - Much more dangerous!
My two'd rip his arms off and hit him with the soggy end
21. Hi Jamie, I use a HT112 and EX112 with an LMII and it's a nice rig. The cabs are very small but quite heavy - they're really well made and would probably survive a nuclear blast. I find the sound surprisingly old school - ie; warm and fat but you can get a really nice hifi sound with the tweeter boosted a bit. I've used Aguilar, Schroeder, Epifani cabs but I think these are probably the best all round for me anyways.
22. What a git - take no notice Jo. Shall I send the boys 'round?
23. I met a BCer when making a purchase and he had about 15 basses on the wall and it was all quality stuff including vintage Fenders, Sei etc etc. He had a rare Warwick reputed to be worth about £8,000.
24. I was learning to read music but I think I'll give up before my head explodes.
