1. It's tab writing software, I use it to learn songs though. You can search for and download tabs from the web into GP. When you open the song in GP, you get the notation, the tab on the screen and the sounds with a mixer so you can take the bass out or boost it etc. You can loop sections, slow 'em down etc. A marker moves along with the tab so you know where you are. It's the dogs bollox and worth every penny
2. +1 on the G&L if not, a Jazz'll cover most things.
3. Link not working John
4. I reckon it's worth £500 but I'll give you £600. Just kidding, I'd start with a grand and be prepared to move a bit, nobody's spending.
5.
+1 to this. More than half the audition will be about the chemistry between you and the other band members. Good luck.
Agreed - I'm in a far better band than I should be and it's because I'm easy to get along with. I got the nod in favour of a couple of other bassists who were far more talented because I fitted in.
6. I rang the guy but he's already sorted - never mind mate.
7. This is a staggeringly good bass folks, super light and sounds gorgeous. Cameron is a gentleman to deal with so buy with complete confidence
8.
If that pun was intended then bravo
Ya got me Macko
9. Don't think I'm being funny Quoth'd but there's only one reason stuff doesn't sell. A lot of people love Spectors on here including me.
10. Cracking bass.... ...sorry, if it had 5 strings I'd be very interested.
11. Aw thanks icastle, it's one of my favourites - I love the guitar solo.
12. Watching this thread closely, I feel a purchase coming on.
13. If I told you what I did for a living you'd be very scared, believe me (missing emoticon)
14. If you build it, they will come...at least I will anyway. Nice idea kiat
15. I think I read somewhere on Talkbass that some guy "joined up the black and white wires..." and made it passive. I can do that, all I need is some scissors and the sellotape.
16. Maybe Detroit?
17. I knew this'd sell quickly Paul - 'specially at that price.
18. I've just bought a Yamaha BB615 as a back up bass and I really like it apart from the preamp which is poo. Thing is, should I spend up to £150 modding a £250 bass or should I (having read loads of stuff that says the cheaper, passive BB415 which is basically the same bass without the electronics etc sounds much better) rip out the electrics, put in some decent pots make it passive and.... save a wad?
19. Thanks Michael that was very interesting.
20. Another Guitar Pro fan here.
21. Pretty sure I'll be going on the Saturday PMs sent to Mythste and Machines re; lift
22. Agh - I wish you'd put this up last week before I bought a BB615..never mind.
23. Andy - you're a star mate, brilliant thread (excuse pun). I'll have a go tonight. I only paid £250 for the bass as a back up but it's got too much relief and notes are choking high up the neck. I want to fit a new preamp to it but if the neck won't straighten up a bit, I'm not going to bother. Thanks Andy.
24.
Or you could try a washer under the adjuster nut.
Yeh I've heard that can work sometimes - can an imbecile do it?
