I can't recommend the USA Standards with S1 enough, mine is fantastic and a lot of people seem to be loving them at the moment! You can pick them up second hand for under £600 easily!!! Strangely i've never tried a Lakland but look forward to giving OBBM's a go at the SouthEast BassBash Cool Si p.s. and yeah, warwickhunt's Re-Issue is particually sexy!!

Fantastic Jazz, basically the same as mine but i added a tort s'plate. Wouldn't swap it for anything at the moment . Fender seem to have hit the mark with that particular line! Just got a Jazz Deluxe, but already i'm thinking that one of these Standards with a J-retro would whip its ass! Good call! Si

The Rob Allen stuff looks great, i know it was in the list on the previous page [url="http://www.roballenguitars.com/info_mouse.html"]http://www.roballenguitars.com/info_mouse.html[/url] I play a Fender Bronco, but strung as a Piccolo bass, its 30" scale but doesn't feel that odd, i guess because i'm playing it in a different mind-set to a Bass Guitar perhaps. In the same way my EUB at 36" doesn't feel that odd, its such a different instrument that it doesn't really compute. Good Luck Si

What gets me is that in the 'Cupids Chokehold' single, the guy singing the chorus isn't even in GCH, its the singer from Fallout Boy lol So they're first single is a cover with another singer, difficult to follow methinks, but we'll see! Si

My Project P-bass is an Encore, but certainly to my eyes and hands and good solid quality one, it was my first ever bass back in the mid 90's, am i right in thinking that when encore started, they were actually quite a respected brand? I know its an older one because the headstock is pretty much a duplicate of the Fender headstock, whereas now they're not. Anyway, to the point! I just want to know if people think that generic replacement necks, like those from allparts will be a good fit at the neck joint? Were all those copies generic sizes? I've put up a post in the wanted section for a maple jazz neck, but if the sizes are all skew-whiff, then my other option is to have Mike at Bass Merchant apply a new fretboard onto the existing neck (which is fine quality wise) so its a good fit. They would be around the same price! Cheers Si

I was thinking the other day, that fundamentally i'm not particually fussed about having active EQ's on my basses, but for some projects, mostly live, i like the extra grunt and output they afford. Would it be possible to take a passive bass, and have someone custom wind some pickups really hot so as to get a similar output to an active bass?? Cheers Si

Hey mate, i was there, riiiiiight down the front lol. It indeed was an awesome night, yeah his bass and vocals were quite low for the first tune, but the guitar was even lower right until maybe the 2nd from last song. But Richard was definitely on top form, and his band were fantastic to, i have a lot of time for his percussionist!! Well all of them! Great trumpet player. Well, gotta wait another year i suspect until he comes back Si p.s. Would love to see the pics and vids Mike, my phone ran outa battery, so couldn't get any myself

Umm, how about in the middle of the ramp? or is the logo textured/embossed, because that might feel weird on the fingers if you're playing over it. I like the idea of it being in the tuner recess, but it might look a bit squashed/busy Si
