Just completed a trade with Col, all went smoothly, both parties happy. Great comms throughout, no hassle, a real pleasure. Would definitely recommend. Thanks again Col!
Perfect P bass for me right there.... Any interest in trading up for my Veillette 5 string, or any of my PJB gear?
Many thanks for the offer but not really my cup of tea I'm afraid. New pics added, let me know if you want to see anything else.

For no other reason than I fancy a change..... For sale is my USA Fender Precision from 2007 in black/black/maple. In good condition it does have one dink on the underside of the lower horn but this hasn't gone through to the wood and is pretty hard to spot, also a small scratch on the back - tried to show photos below but its really not that bad. Currently strung with La Bella flats. Includes Fender SKB hardcase, pick up covers, strap and usual case candy. This is the newer spec without the S1 switching and with the high mass bridge. It's currently got Schaller strap locks fitted and I don't have the originals, I'm sure I could source some if this is a deal breaker. Would like £600 plus postage for this but could be open to offers, though I'm in no rush to get rid. I could also be tempted by trades, anything other than a Precision or a Jazz - let me know what you've got. A quick pic below, will get some better photos taken tonight.
Natural plywood wouldn't look too hot though.
Having had the neck and pickguard off mine I'm pretty sure the bodies are solid alder - as described on the Sue Ryder website. You can just about make it out on one of the photos I posted a few pages back.

The results are in! The neck fits - not perfectly but not too bad and no major surgery required!! see here for more details. So I now have a spare Ryder neck - give us a shout if you're interested.

Well, I'd been scouring the internet for the past couple of months looking for a cheapish Precision body to go with a defretted Jazz neck that I've had for a while. So when I saw this thread it was a pretty straight forward decision to place an order, sonic blue too - my first choice colour!! Ordered last Weds, the bass arrived on Friday - top service for a great price. Had a bit of a play with it over the weekend and was suitably impressed, I won't harp on as it's pretty clear by now that these are seriously good basses for the money. So, on with the mods! First up the neck swap. Old neck came off with no problems, neck pocket measured - 64mm wide, 100mm long, 20mm deep. New neck slotted straight in. Not a very tight fit but close enough for me - easily less than 1mm gap on each side. The neck screws weren't an exact match either but again, close enough. A new set of strings and hey presto! Well, not quite - finished up with a very high action so further tweaking required, maybe even a shim or two. Buts thats for another time. Tortoiseshell pickguard also in the post, should arrive this week

Planning on trying out a squier jazz neck on mine, will hopefully get some time to do this tomorrow night so will let you know how it goes.
Too true, will be interesting to see what the mods will be. I think in a weeks time the build diaries will be full of these. I know if i really like it, in a few months time its gonna get a Jazz pup stuck in there
ooh, jazz pup - now there's an idea! Was just about to sell some spare pups but will keep them for this now.
Hi Mal(?), I'm interested in the Gator case for my Peavey Cirrus 5. How's the interior, any squashing of the foam? My only concern is if there would be any lateral movement as I do a fair amount of flying & don't want my bass rattling around, if you know what I mean. EDIT: Also, are the Jazz pups standard or other? Pics would be appreciated when you get the chance. Cheers, Stuee
Hi Stuee The interior of the case is pretty much like new - I've never really used the case for gigging as I tend to stick with a soft case I have. The exterior is a little scratched from getting the case in and out of various cupboards that its been stored in over the past couple of years. All will hopefully become clear when I get some pics up tonight. And yes, the jazz pups are standard Fender USA. Cheers Mal -
Was also listening to the best of yesterday as well!! Definitely one of my favourite bands, seen them quite a few times and think its a real shame I won't be seeing them again. Saw them in Manchester on the farewll tour last year - best gig of 2010 by far!
I have a defretted Squier Jazz neck that I've been looking around for a Precision body for - what would you rate the chances of my neck fitting this body without too much work required?
I guess I'll have to find out the hard way - I just ordered one. At that price and with free P&P it would be rude not to!!

This is the coolest thing I've seen for a long time!

Fascinating thread that was, thanks for sharing. That guy really knows his stuff!

Good question, I was wondering that myself. The cynic in me thought that perhaps someone from Rickenbacker had noticed the thread and had a word? From what I hear they're a bit hot on counterfeits, would this count as such?
