1. Call me old fashioned (and probably wrong) but weren't they the same bass, same factory, different name inlaid? Memory is fading but? I remember trying a new Antoria BE out in Williams in Darlington, chose the Kasuga Rick instead because even then I was scared of the Black Eagles "whole lotta Rosie" weight .
2. ON HOLD (sorry, running way behind today). Thanks chaps, appreciated. As these things are Kiwi, I was offered a decent trade against a VERY expensive 5, but I don't play them. Bassists eh An incredible 6 trade offers in the first day including a stunning jazz-a-like. If there had been a bit more difference in his asking and mine.................... Anyway, still currently available and many thanks to all of those who have shown an interest , cheers, Karl. EDIT. Note to self, learn the difference between past and present tense
3. Interesting. Wonder if this is the one that sold, from Paisley, earlier in the year, at around £150? Had the same broken bit.
4. Just put bloody sold in the title and stop taunting us Jealous, moi?
5. 6. Have a bump for a glorious bass!
7. Thanks Mel. it is a bit PM's replied, sorry but 4 strings only in trade please.
8.
It's all good... old basses are good, new basses are good, all basses are good ... well apart from ricks obviously they're sh*t
DON'T start that again
9. Thanks fellas, I'll see how I get on with my latest trade/sale.
10. SEI Original headless from about 2003, serial no 051. The chap I bought this from bent over backwards to sort me a deal and after 5 nights of trying, it's just not for me, too set in my ways. He has also very kindly offered to take this back, but I am not happy for him to suffer because of my foibles. So, moving on from my embarrassment, extremely good condition, 2 tiny dints, neither through to the wood. Unusually I don't see the need for any more pictures, it is a simple but world class bass. If you are looking at this you know Martin is thought by a good few to be the UK's greatest luthier. A new one of these will currently cost you just over £2300 and a 12/18 month wait. Ridiculously light at just over 6.5 lbs, Kent Armstrong soapbars, Maple caps/top, lightweight Ash body, neck through, ebony fretboard, vol, pan, bass, mid, treble. Brand new foam TGI gig bag, 19mm (adjustable) string spacing, 38mm nut width. My other SEI will go to the grave with me. I AM VERY HAPPY TO TRADE, with money either way, Fender Custom shop would be nice. Or, for example, a nice US Sterling plus £450 to me. Trades 4 string, fretted and with a headstock please. As a trade I would value this at £1200 To sell I would require £1100 cash/bank transfer/cleared cheque. Half the price of a new one, yet just as functional and available a LOT more quickly. Based in Wigan, any trial welcome. I will courier at extra cost of £35 to cover insurance. NO PAINPal please, cash or bank transfer. FEEDBACK at bottom of this post. NB, the flash in photo no3 highlights tiny little scratches that you can only see in certain light. Even then you have to look hard. Photo no2 is what you really see. Any questions please just ask, cheers, Karl. 11. Thanks fellas appreciated. Without neck and plate off it's difficult. The pup and in particular the pup screws don't look like 41 years of sweat and looking at the holes for tug bar on top and bottom of plate something has occurred. Mind, I need to flog something first anyway, perhaps a pipe dream at the mo
12.
Yip - I don't make stuff up for the fun of it, believe me. I've done deps with three or four different bands recently, and at every one, at least one member of the band has said something along the lines of 'whoah, that's nice' etc., etc. And a bloke came up to me after one gig and said how nice he thought it looked. He may have been a muso, I dunno. And do you know why I think this has happened? Black box syndrome. It's been a scourge in bass-land for years now. Guitarists get lovely boutique amps, drummers get cool-looking kits... bass players get black boxes. Well, sod that.
SO BLOODY TRUE! Hence my 2 x 210 of yellowness. Currently.
13. I had no problem with the top handle on my S12V, or side handles for that matter. Lift from side, wheel with the top. With the silver cloth face, I thought it looked quite nice in a retro way. After 18 months I moved it on, really because in some venues it was really difficult for me to dial out a bottom end boom, almost farty at times. In some venues it sounded just amazing. Have to admit though, the look of some of those TKS , even though the Markbass cabs sound really great to me. Must resist.
14.
Thanks for the clarification. I just liked the colour
Welcome to my world of magpie gear whore-dom
15. What do you reckon folks? Does it look kosher? Why is it only 8 miles from me 1973 Fender Precision Bass
16. As you were (Hell's bells, now what can I sell ).
17. Or P body, P/J config, J neck. Hat trick
18.
Over-priced and over-rated dogshit. The only reason anyone would ever buy one over another brand is purely because they want a Fender in their hands. Even the US ones don't provide much over competing brands of a lower price point. All the CEO has to do is keep Fenders in the public eye and the jobs done. No need to worry about actually making instruments that sound, look and play better than other brands. People buy Cadillacs because they're cool cars. Not because they're better than BMW, Audi, Lexus or Mercedes. Nothing wrong with it of course; I'm just saying that these days in brand identity that gets the sales; not the product itself! Truckstop
All those millions of bass players duped
19. I always get the jitters looking at your photos. You have/have had some amazing basses. Sadly I have none of the trades you are looking for. Good luck.
20. I keep coming back to lust at this P!
21. No prob, it's a beautiful bass
22. The one I had made in 2001, had to sell in 2009, is still advertised (the rosewood board jazz with p/j). It was sold early July. I missed getting her back by a week Bit of a bugger when they are still advertising long after a bass is sold
23. Even with no trades this won't be here long
24. Who's running the book on this?
