  1. There was a lovely Status one on Bass bros. Red, fretted and fretless. Daisy Pepper owns it now.
  2. Also, meant to say - my tone is heavy fuzz and distortion. But two tracks were sent. One with the effected tone, and one raw clean DI so he could do whatever he wanted with.
  3. Potentially my wordage was incorrect. I’m not hugely knowledgeable at that stage of playing! I can play, but recording is a different world for me. Witchcraft! 😂 What I mean is he asked us to send the raw tracks for guitar, bass, vocals and synth. The drummer records midi using an electric kit (which he’s happy with, at least it’s mostly him on record!). If that helps. EDIT: aha the guitarist does the comping of tracks.
  4. Funnily enough, he’s one of these engineers who adds drum stuff in. Makes it impossible to play unless you’re an octopus!
  5. Mixing. We recorded everything ourselves. I just hadn’t boosted the EQ on the basses. I have lost complete trust in the guy now and would really prefer to go elsewhere. Even though he says he will use my playing, I don’t trust him to do so.
  6. I’m looking for recommendations so we don’t need to use him.
  7. Have you also got anything midi controller-wise? We control our backing track (albeit via laptop) using a qc and Bluetooth midi. Maybe an option with the tablet?
  8. There was a band I knew years ago. “With Special guests” They got people through the door with people wanting to know who the special guests were.
  9. Yeah you would think. Like I used to be crazy nervous about recording, but felt good after recording this one. But now, kinda feel a bit crap. if there was an issue with DI I just wish he’d said! I would happily have fixed. I was proud of the EP but it’s tainted now.
  10. Hey folks, I have an odd request… my band are looking to record our second EP. However… the first EP the engineer removed me from 3 out of 4 tracks. He said the DI signal wasn’t hot enough. We didn’t realise until fairly recently that it was a midi bass sample on all but one. So, I’m obviously not sure about him. However - he’s used by a fair few bands in Scotland and often just samples the bass (I believe) and is reasonably priced. My guitarist is keen to use him again - “better the devil you know” and has spoken to him to find out what the issues were, he’s said he wants a new set of strings and a hot signal. So I tested, new strings on my Status CW and recorded direct with EQ balanced and with the EQ boosted fully. We sent the dude the track and asked if it would work. He said if we could get a sound like the boosted EQ for recording, he’d be happy to use the bass. Fair enough. But - I still have some reservations. My guitarist is also concerned about going to someone he doesn’t know, or not known, incase we either get screwed over, or they nick the music for themselves. Again, fair enough. Does anyone have any recommendations on someone who could be worth a look? We sent the stems and e-drums midi and can send the rough demos we have etc so see how things should be. thanks in advance!
  11. Arg! I just bought the new version. This would have been perfect! GLWTS
  12. I bought this to automate my QC setup. Midi from laptop over Bluetooth, worked gloriously. No random cables across the room! I’ll sell for £40 shipped with one of the midi cables. Can get on Amazon if you need more.
  13. I bought this brand new back in December and it’s worked flawlessly. One gig and a few band practices. It still has the original screen sticker on it. I have added a piece of Velcro to the transmitter to try and give a more sturdy hold when not used like a bug style. Great unit - built like a tank. Works on the 2.4Ghz space. Had no issue with interference either from venue or other wireless devices. The tuner appears to be pretty accurate, it’s handled my basses down to C. Think I still have the box kicking about. shipping is an option 😊
  14. I'm using the Status straps on my basses. Great straps!
  15. The Julian year. The singer suggested it and we genuinely couldn’t be bothered trying to think of anything else. Seems to work now.
  16. 😂 I agree! I put my back out last year too. Heavy deadlifts. Easy. Trying to keep things tidy and ruined myself. so safest place is at home on the sofa with absolute chaos around.
  17. When my body is playing up, I go to this thing called KCR - kinectic chain release. I’ve used a woman up here for years - she managed to fix me after ruining my knee at tough mudder, ruined my shoulder boxing and most recently when I injured myself at the gym. If you can find a KCR person near by, i’d defo recommend giving it a go!
  18. Wee sample highlight reel of our show last week! feel free to subscribe!
  19. For the G# aye? Thankfully battering the string is what I do 😂
  20. Hey guys. looking for a smidgen of advise 😊 I’m going to be recording our latest EP soon, my basses are normally setup for CGCF. The newer songs are A# and G#. Live I’m using the drop feature on my QC to hit these notes. Which works fine. But for recording, I want the bass in the right tuning. So I’m considering using one of my status 4 strings for the A# tuning and the 5 string Status Stealth for the G#. Unless anyone has a status 5 string that I could borrow and tune to the A# ha. What sort of string gauge would potentially be alright? Both basses are 34 inch scale. The stealth has .130s I think and can hit the G# but not sure if a 135+ may give a better feeling. I’m considering using the headless S2 4, and the stealth is also headless. So maybe double ball preferred.
  21. Every single time I read this name, my brain reads it as “squier mustang Milky Way”
  22. Good luck! Years back I could name every promoter in my city, and get a gig whenever I wanted! But now, it’s so hard! Every venue bar one just ghosts us it seems. I don‘t think we’re that bad (and the people who come to the one venue seem to enjoy!). We’ve done videos, audio, etc. we’re debating putting a gig on ourselves somewhere just to play a diff place!
  23. We played Krakatoa again (swear it’s the only venue that we can get now!) in Aberdeen last night. we were supporting a band called kuro from Glasgow. Decent night! Used my QC into the house markbass and 8x10 cab with my Status S2. Great tone! We got great feedback from folks and had great fun on stage. Minus my vocalist stepped back onto me and went through the ceiling. Thought his life was flashing before his eyes.
