  1. Nothing I have ever played through has matched this, or come close to it.
  2. Those B and G strings are right on the edge of the neck from the look of it.
  3. Ask how long your audition slot will be and then, when they have answered, say you will learn the first x songs to fill that time.
  4. Show her this and tell her to count herself as lucky.
  5. I had dithered about buying a Cloud guitar when Schecter put a limited run out and missed out on one. More fool me. He who hesitates is lost. I saw an advert on Facebook for a Cloud replica from a company called Sunfield in the USA. The price was reasonable, including case, so I thought I'd have a punt on a purple one. When the tracking information came through, it showed it was coming from China, so I prepared myself for the worst. Chinese guitars can be either good or horrid. The tracking info showed it was on the way to the airport, but nothing else, but it arrived here in the UK fairly quickly. It came extremely well packaged but not in a case, so I am in the process of chasing them about that. The guitar: Well, it looks absolutely superb. The action was quite high, so I took it down. The strings choked on the top frets if I did string bends. Bah. So it went into Jack's Instrument Services in Manchester and they have made it into a pretty good guitar. New posts for the bridge. Fret leveling. Tweaking the bridge ferrules. Packing under the pickups (No, they are not EMG's). Setup, etc. After that work, which meant I was without the guitar for a week, I ended up with a pretty spectacular looking and really playable guitar.

  6. My wife is (quite) tolerant of 50 guitars, 3 bass rigs and a few guitar amps, some of which make it into the house.
  7. "That PA is big" They don't come smaller. Take her with you shopping for a smaller PA and steer her to the big stuff. "That bass rig is big" I have to be heard and it's still a small rig. Take her with you shopping for a smaller rig and steer her to the big stuff. "Two bass guitars..." Several different arguments - safety backup always wins.
  8. Our gig list is at www.thethree.org.uk - We are back there in November and at the Romiley Arms at some point, also the Remedy in Stockport and the Crown.
  9. I've seen Ian and The Rant Band many times. Paul Page does a great job.
  10. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Hartleys-Natural-Panel-Wicker-Divider/dp/B00CECB55G/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1527956669&sr=8-12&keywords=folding+screen+room+divider I have one hiding a multitude of gear and it was my wife that bought it (though I did suggest it a while before)!!
  11. Personally, I think if someone gives you a room to play in, what goes on in there is their responsibility and if they want to set guidelines, that's their right. As for polls about changing things, or adding things, whatever flexibility they show is up to them too. 99% of members may want some thing, but there may be a very valid reason why they won't allow it. Swear filters: If the admins don't want to read the word f***, etc on their forum, that's up to them, too. No idea why people would try to get around it. What's the point? Admins might throw them out.
  12. I'll just leave this here...
  13. We'd got to the end of our set and were about to pack up, when this little girl singer came along and said I'll sing one with you... It worked out quite well. Video in next post, as it wouldn't display in this post for some really odd reason.
  14. Coincidence. Had that for ages.
  15. When I get the guitar back from the work I am having done on it, I will post under 'guitars'.
  16. Apparently he had some issues with the rest of the band. Spectacularly unprofessional to pack up mid-gig.
  17. Slightly off-topic, but I got this last week....
  18. And a TV thing
  19. Not my gig. A night off. I went to watch a band at my local and their drummer quit during the second set. Just started dismantling his kit. While someone else covered for a song, he dragged his cases on stage. Singer announced the next song, but no. Show over. Astonishment.
  20. I am sure all those Beatles tributes playing to packed theatres, year in - year out would have trouble with that statement. T.Rextasy are the best tribute band I have ever seen. They are busier than practically anybody. There is a demand for most of the acts who put the effort in to reproduce the sounds and look of those we have lost. I am waiting for an opportunity to catch the 'Purple Rain' Price tribute, when I can. It may not interest Dan Dare, but the rest of us are not Dan Dare (nor a tribute to him).
  21. Sometimes, you have to dress the part or it would be all wrong. I didn't replicate Jim Lea's bass gear.
