Funnily enough, I never liked Elvis Costello back in the day, he wasn't punk enough, but we have added 'Pump it Up' to our set list and listening to some songs I haven't heard in ages, like 'Watching the detectives', I'm starting to like him.
I like a lot if his stuff, but after a properly crap gig at the Liverpool philharmonic last year he should have given everyone their money back.
I know if people offer a product or service and properly fluff it, the payment for it becomes moot , if a show properly fluffs it , well, we can all just suck up our £85 a head ticket price can’t we 🤬

Ok all
A day or so early as I am tied up this weekend, and I like to do the vote thread on the PC, as it will get messy if I try on the phone/ipad

It seems like a bit of a short month this time but with December next week, I guess it's time to get voting!
Just a quick note regarding December, it will, as tradition, be a cover song challenge, any cover you have recorded over the year will also be welcome.
As per usual, I have had all year to think of a cover to do, but have not yet decided!
Anyway back to business...
The Inspiration for November was chosen by last month's worthy winner @SH73 who offered us ....
"Something futuristic"
So please use your 3 Votes to pick your faves from the following...
1 @AndyTravis Its a holding track , I think ( Lurks)
2 @Dad3353 Just keep going. Don't look up, keep your eyes down and try to look natural...
3 @Boodang The image reminds me a of the game Bio Shock. With that in mind this is the result.
4 Lurksalot
We had grand little Lurks over last weekend , and he played the piano for a while , when I say played, we set the soundscape, I hit the record button, and he had some fun making a lot of the noises.
It was ideally a soundtrack for one of our 'expeditions' in a star wars kind of way, but I did a bit of cutting and restructuring and I thought it fitted this quite well, if a little dark.
5 @Leonard Smalls I got to thinking about a certain type of person for whom the future is only acceptable if it stays exactly the same as the present, hence a ditty about some bloke who won't never grow up.
6 @Wolfram The soundtrack to a carefully-planned and executed mission to rescue the Princess and her people. Channelling a little Vangelis maybe, and segueing into a full-on dance track, I present "Follow Me"!
7 @MoonBassAlpha I got a strong Blade Runner Vibe from the pic, so there's a bit of that ambient element, but then I DO enjoy bashing the drums too
8 @sammybee the 4 in the foreground look like they are heading home after a heavy night in the club as the sun rises..
9 @upside downer Get me out of the Paranoid City, where the trees are scorched and the living is gritty, oh, won't you please take me home? A wary and weary band of cyberpunks plot their route through the mean streets where fear, suspicion and mistrust rule.
10 @fingers211 At some time in the future, (actually it's 18 minutes after the Rush album), if you have a thought of your own or one deemed to be out of the collective, then a blue light glows round your head only seen by the "Thought Spotters" . Once spotted, you're escorted out the city gate !!
11 @BabyBlueSound Halloween is long gone, but the Post-Halloween Prowl is still on! Cheer up, hit the derelict streets, get your digital sweeties, and try to have some fun for once in this wasteland
12 @SH73 Human T`Error inspired by Terminator movies
Weighed in , Weighed in
That's 12 pieces of original compositions for your delectation , have fun listening and choosing your Favourite 3
Voting ends at midnight November 30th

A close run challenge for October, but rising to the top in the final throws came @SH73 with a great entry.
As is his privilege, nay, honour, he has offered up the following for your inspiration.
"Something futuristic....."
Simple rules
✔️ Entries must be <5 minutes and recorded between now and the deadline.
✖️ No illegal samples, copyright infringements or other snide goings-on
✖️ No Bagpipes/panpipes , everyone had the chance last month , so there!
✖️ No voting for your own entry. We'll know. And we'll shame you..
Deadline wise , we will go for Midnight on the 23rd as I will be away for the weekend and leaving it till the 26th only leaves 4 voting days.
A line or two of blurb as usual for the vote thread will be lovely.
Have fun

Own up... Who voted for me?
I thought I'd managed to make my entry so unpleasant that folks wouldn't be able to listen to it!
What does a guy have to do to get nul points round here?
Just wait till next month...
I thought you were going to manage it this month as well , yo must have a fanboi dude 😂

Another dead-heat looming. How about I just print out a Certificate for everyone and be done with it..? Here's hoping that there's still some voters out there, deciding what to choose...
😂😂
well I’ve just thinned the herd and appear to have voted myself down to third 😂
great work , it’s brilliant hearing all the lyrics this month 👍

Off we jolly well go then, some great work in this month's collection , fantastic.
Welcome to the new songsmiths who have contributed this month , all are welcome.
Just a quick note .. Tripehound told me his song was pretty much written before the start of the month, though recorded this month. That is why it's not in the voting thread, though I'm hoping he will join in due course.

there have been some great strides into Autumn with the witching month and the horrors of Halloween!
After a great win from @MoonBassAlpha in September he offered us the following for our inspiration.
"This image is available by kind permission from the creator Tim M Gravestock, a graphic designer and excellent photographer.
Hope this is seasonally appropriate and gets the creative juices flowing"
This has of course resulted in the usual set of eclectic entries which are all well worth a listen and vote.
however, just choose your favourite 3 from the following
1 @Dad3353 I took a wrong turning and left The Path. Clouds formed, and a chill wind whispered to me. She came closer...
2 @Boodang Desolate, haunting and isolation are the themes that come across for me in the picture and ones that inspired this melancholy, and hopefully atmospheric, piece.
3 @AndyTravis I’ve sat in my pyjamas with coffee doing this today. The dogs are looking at me funny.
4 @Leonard Smalls I felt that the rather spooky image deserved my rather jaunty cover of Spandau Ballet's classic. Get yer dancin' shoes on!
5 @SH73 `Born to Bleed'- lyrics don`t make sense as usual. Trash metal song this time
6 Lurksalot I went for the obvious, well it was to me, these people need new windows!
7 @MoonBassAlpha You'll all be glad to hear the sonic screwdriver makes a welcome return in a desolate soundscape
8 @Tony macker Pheww! I very nearly didn't post this track kinda rushed and had lots off probs with distortion on the mix.
9 @Wolfram By the look of the poor girl and the state of that house, there could be only one theme for this one... home renovation. I present 'Grand Designs'!
10 @upside downer Our cheeky little heroine is off to school. Dunno how much work she'll get done, what with the mischievous and otherworldly nature of her classmates. They all seem a bit, well, y'know, rapaciously ravenous. She may well fall in with the wrong crowd, if she hasn't already...
no skeletons in this cupboard , but you'll have to pick the bones out of these great tunes.
we have new entrants who are most welcome and making a mark straight away
Dive in and Choose your favourite 3 ,
Voting will close at midnight on halloween .... Good Luck

here is my entry based on the picture chosen by last months winners, MoonBassAlpha.
I went for the obvious, well it was to me, these people need new windows!
the main riff was on my little 'Fleabass' through a waves Bass app that doubled up the guitar part, then various synths found on garageband stuck on top , vocals by yours truly, disguised with some formant shifting in Reaper,
Polished ( ) with a bit of OZone 8
lyrics if you like that sort of thing ....
SpoilerI don’t want to cause a big sensation , I'd like to talk about fenestration
I don’t want to cause a big sensation , I'd like to talk about your quotation
Are your parents in , ive got something they love
A bay and 2 windows with a fanlight above
We’ll do a great deal cause we are in the area
It’ll make you smile and a little less scarier
The quality is superb though the detail may seem vague ,
Don’t follow the fashion of the current
grey plague
The devils in the detail but today I’m not so sure
The look in you’re eye says not welcome any more
So Sign here press hard , and things will move fast
The draft in your lounge is a thing of the past
You can turn down the stat on your overworking combi
And start to live the life of sophisticated zombie
just doing my job so don’t bite of my head
And I’m sure I’d rather be, somewhere else instead
I know that you’re thinking id be better off dead but
I’m just doing my job so don’t bite of my head
Bifolding doors would look lovely round the back
All sliding smoothly on a stainless steel track
if you were to worry, about the cost perchance
it’ll be no trouble to sign you on finance
it will help to relieve your irrational fears
and you can pay it off for the next 200 years .
I’m just doing my job so don’t bite of my head
And I’m sure I’d rather be, somewhere else instead
I know that you’re thinking id be better off dead but
I’m just doing my job so don’t bite of my head
