1. Thought that might get your attention...but i stand by my claim.. ive always thought Donny Hathaway has the best voice of all the greats...to me his voice is pure power and control...a bit like Aretha...Probably my favorite album that i have ever owned is Donny live with Willie Weeks.. The best bass playing ive ever heard IMO...i love Willie's note choices and total groove playing on the tune below.....for me it doesnt get any better than this....This album had such an affect on me when i started to play bass, and its stayed with me ever since.. Donny's version of Marvins 'Whats Goin On' on this album is supreme also... Donny was the man... for me, he was a man/musician, that didnt let himself become, what he could have been.. . anyway, im sure you heard this before... 4. Im not a rock man ..but this is awsome!!!.....forget Flea..this guy blows him away!!!..IMHO..Les's technique is very advanced, and hes sooo funky..ive seen him do some amazing stuff on the bass Is it me or does he perform a harmonic vibrato..im sure he does, just after 41 seconds..have listen.. hows he doing that????.. i reckon hes shaking the D/G string...at 50 seconds hes got an unstoppable groove... 7. Welcome back Doc..Nice to see your loving the Jazz...For under £500 ish i would suggest a Lakland 55-01...
8. Do you have a favorite bass solo...? Mine without doubt is this... Randy 'Hope' Taylor on Incognito's Tribes Vibes and Scribes.. A track called Magnetic Ocean...Just wonderful, amazing bass playing!!!! This is why i love RHT..If you ever want to hear different dynamics in someones playing this is it..from lovely melodic lines to more aggressive digging in.. You need to hear it through headphones to get the best from this.. The solo is from 2.40 onwards... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=upydbZNtR4s
9.
Different experiences I guess. My Gator case was rubbish... and incidently warped in the middle. I guess it depends how much you use it, what is transported in it and how... and in what heat. This is my experience... that's not to say it matches other people's experience. As my rule, racks are best if they are light (unless you have a roadcrew), take a strong ABS over a flightcase unless you really, really need the strength of a flightcase... (and then only the shockmount cases gain any real advantage over an ABS case). Keep as little as possible in them. Don't fit them with drawers and stuff for carrying stuff - the weight of the steel drawer takes it toll at the end of the night when lifting it... Avoid putting in things just to fill gaps. Yeah, power distribution units look cool and have nice lights... but if it's only powering an amp (and maybe a tuner) - it's a bit pointless... and again, heavy. I use SKB because, as other people have stated, they are sturdy, the handles are up to the job (unlike other cases - what are those stupid rubber handles about on some of the competition?) and feel robust enough to do the job - some cases look like they would crack and fall apart at the first opportunity. As for the cooling issue, it depends upon the gear you have in there. For example, my EBS head takes in air from the front and ejects it from the back fans. The last thing I want to do is have an unecessary gap above it - the hot air rising from the rear, when meeting the cold air space above the amp can be drawn through that gap and back into the amp. The result? An increasing cycle of warmer air getting pumped in through the front of the amp. I don't know why Rich seemed to jump on a poster back there - he was just talking from experience like I am. Like I said, what works for one may not work for another for various reasons - but its good to see other people's experiences so you can make an informed decision on future purchases. Would I buy a Gator rack? No.
Thanks, that was really imformative...
10. this was my first bass..hence the name..great basses..have a bump!

13. What size rack should be getting for an Aguilar ag500sc a DTR2000 tuner and maybe a draw for cables etc.. Im also concerned with space, for the heat release from the amp.. Whats a cheaper option thats quite lightweight...Also where to buy from? Thanks for any advise
14. Try some Incognito's stuff...Lots of it...Some fairly easy, some very very difficult.....all very good though...some of the best players ive heard play on Blueys music this chap being one of them, playing Jacobs Ladder....Julian Crampton http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1C0HHhDIeY There not all this complex

16. Wonderfull, amazing, fantastic...My favorite of all Stevie's songs...Love the build up of the brass section in it...Lovely bass playing Pete.. Nate Watts is really flying around the FB through it.. Good call.
17. If we all thought like that knowone would ship anything Danny i shipped two basses at once last week, and it couldnt be easier...I will PM you with a very very cheap shipper.. I dont see any variables? All you have to do is called the company who will ship your bass, pay by card, ask for insurance..They will pick the bass up when you want them to..and thats it....Just make sure you use a hard case with plenty of bubble wrap... I shipped a bass for £65 to Europe...FedEx wanted to charge me £190 believe it or not... The best thing is the company i used, used Fedex!!!???? You have PM Danny..
18. wanted to share this...masterclass in funk.. you know the drill. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AUBn6i7HDHk
19.
They probably are one of those things you need to try. I love them for their stability and evenness of tone & response. Some carbon fibre necked basses can sound very bright, but I've always found Zon basses to have a comparatively warm sound due to the great active circuits they use (made specially for them by Polyfusion). London? I think you'll find it's in Exeter. They've got some nice Sonus models, but they never have bugger all if you're looking for a Legacy.
right you are sir..edited
20. Ive used a pair of Sennheiser hd 205's for ages..there about £20 and they are great...just a bargain...
