    when i first started playing bass i taught my self notes on the FB, then scales, which are super important and really not hard to learn, then modes (i couldnt tell you there names but who cares) that when my theory becomes very patchy.. Cycle of fifths still baffle me..why cant that penny drop? I have started to learn Piano and it has opened up my world as far as bass playing is concerned...Knowing the chords which your basslines are based around does really help IMO..especially when improvising... i still think as a bassist its much more important to be able to groove and have a good ear, than have great musical theory

    Blimey, why do they wack the price up so much? for a matching headstock!!!... you can get a 75 RI for £1299 and this £300 more??? ok its a 50th Anniversary.. Fender should bring out some limited edition colors with matching headstocks, binding, string through body's, etc.. Its not special enough for £1599.99 Fender rely far too much on there image... (did i say it was lovely)

    Modulus do offer a green body in there range... looks like the pups, bridge and pre have been changed, as they would have been a Shaller/Hipshot/ Bart/Aguilar combo..or even Villex in the newer basses..

    maybe wanting to trade my Sei 5 string jazz. this is a very special instrument...ive played Nordstrand's, Sadowsky's, Low End's, Celinder's, and this is up there if not better than them..ok maybe not Celinder.. Swamp ash body Superb figured, Olive wood top Birdseye maple neck, with matching headstock Bartolini J pickups John East U Retro pre amp Brazilian rosewood FB Top spec fully adjustable ABM bridge Matching swamp ash electronics cover this bass sings and has superb punch...the j east is very adaptable...the slap tone is killer, and is why i love Bartolini pickups....it has a very slim neck and is slick...not sure of the weight but its light,,poss about 8.5 pounds.. the only reason i maybe want to trade is i want something different...im very cautious about letting this go as its way up there with the best depending on your personal pref...anyway....show me what you got.. the one thing that stands out for me apart from the tone, is the fit and finish...just mind boggling attention to detail...the neck pocket is the tightest ive ever seen on any instrument...this really is the best of the best when it comes to super jazz basses..

    just wanted to share this..the love of my life......just supreme...looks like Gouche on bass duties as usual...i got to say his playing is out of this world..!!! IMHO i dont think many players can touch Gouche and the other gospel players for out and out master... He can fly around that board with most amazing note choices and natural intuition ive ever heard..his playing is driving the music so much.. A true master on the bass that man. .if i could play/listen to any one music for the rest of my life, this is it...just wonderfull groove, epic singing, backers,drumming..this must have been so inspirational to see live [url="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynGoVm-gY90"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynGoVm-gY90[/url]

    i really appreciate the thought that sight reading gives your playing structure, but does this not apply to someone who reads someone elses music..as for dynamics, i think this comes from your own personality, touch, sensitivity, erm...reading the music (by ear) not sight.. as for number 5 answers from Mcrow and S5S, i totally disagree...any music is relevant in any instrument.there is no certain music to listen to as a bass player or any other..you can learn from anyone in any genre....any one who doesnt, is missing something in there playing...if we all thought like that knowone would move forward.. and solos have no bounds in any instrument....as long as its done tastefully....i want musical instrument playing to evolve, not to be stuck by constraints IMVHO
