If you want to skip the solo the song starts at about 1:20
im afraid this sort of vid is why i have some reservations about Mark King.. this is not knocking him, its just a difference in taste... his skills are in no doubt.. but it seems to geared up to show his skills on the bass, which everyone is aware of., the music seems to be rushed also...
2. i played a 6 string Scott jazz in the gallery once.. really nice instrument... hope your well Lee...
3. bobby caldwell is a seriously talented guy, amazing voice. played most of the instruments on that album so ive heard.
4. most 75 jazz reissues from Japan come with 60's spacing, but the non export models from the MIJ sometimes come with 70's spacing.. not always. though..... the non export CIJ usually come with 70's spacing and in various wonderful colour's like lake placid blue etc.. in the 90's they made the non export model in natural.. like the one i have.. dont think they make them anymore,, i could be wrong...
5. no doubt hes a killer player.. i could be totally wrong and uniformed, but i wish he would broaden his playing to maybe do some session work with other artists.. it always seems to come back to L42... dont get me wrong some of there stuff is amazing, but he does seem to be stuck there, in some peoples opinions.. for such a special musician it seems a shame that he hasnt broken the L42 mold.... im sure a renaissance is in the making at some point maybe
6. stunning.. one of the best basses ive seen on BC for a long time..
7. wow.. im suprised this has had no interest type bump

10. as usual Pino's playing is very laid back slick..its the whole concert.... hope you enjoy
11. i bought this album the other day.. was just diggin it.. some of the musicians are fantastic to listen to...dont think ive seen an album with so many amazing musicians.. i thought fagan spent alot on Goucho... here is a small list of whos on the album, Marcus Miller, Chick Corea, Stanley Clarke, Dave Gruisin, George Duke, Nathan East, Patrice Rushen, Christian McBride, Tal Wilkenfield, Melvin 'LEE'Davis, Sonny Emoroy, Peter Erskine, Dave Weckl, Kurt Elling... the album is called Rythm Sessions.. maybe its not your thing but its great to hear some of these musicians at work... this is one track off the album with Zamajobe on vocals, vinnie colaiuta on drums, Tal on bass.. hope you enjoy... 12. where do get these fabulous basses..?
13.
But are they marking any kind of mark beyond the on-line world. Is the height of their musical ambitions raking up the hit and "like" count for their videos and perhaps a bit of ad money? I can see the point if they are using the videos as a way of selling their abilities as musicians, but is it working? Have any of them got any regular musical work in the real world as a result of making their videos? I'm not denying that there are some good technical skills to be learnt from some of these players, but none of them appear to be teaching what is IMO the most valuable musical lesson of all - how to interact with other musicians in the real world. Practicing at home improves my technical ability, but I learn far more about music and playing every time I set foot in a rehearsal room, at a song writing session, in the studio, or on stage with other musicians present.
yeah maybe they are making a mark.. you dont have to sign a record deal to make a mark. for sure its invaluble to interact with other musicians, but along the way people make vids of themselves playing bass... whats this obsession with making money from your craft to make a mark in music... times are changing. its a video.. for some it might be a bedroom thing to pass the time, for others it might be a vid to show off there chops while there making there bread live.. who knows.. who cares.. they entertain me... thats what music is all about... looking down your nose at musicians because they want to post vids of them selves is a little hypocritical imo
14. i stumbled across this on You Tube really liked it... thought they were a great band and he has a great voice.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKx7kr9aiG4

16.
Would this have been posted if it was a guy playing? and the answer is NO.
talent is talent my friend.. its only you that brought it up.. who cares if shes a girl and shes good looking.. stop being so immature.
17.
There's a million, spotty, overweight, ginger, teenage boys, who can play as good (or better) than this. They will continue to record playalong videos in their bedroom and post them on Youtube. But nobody will ever watch them........... It's sad.
what a sad way of thinking about this girls vid. she a great bassist imo.. i really cant understand why your so negative about it..?
18. Doddy you post stuff that i never thought of.. thankyou.. by the way i dig scritty pollity... there were always amazing
19.
I remember videotaping this on a late night C4 programme - absolutely loved it. Nice to see "Friends & Strangers" on this thread - it used to be the theme tune to the Robbie Vincent show (can't remember which radio station). This was in the days before I even thought about playing bass - that fretless part is outstanding.
i remember robbie vincents show very well.. it was called the "big beat show".. the first time i ever heard soul to soul. i still have the tapes of many shows that he did... loved them and still do.. robbie vincent was the man.twas when radio one was really good.. imo.. no im not getting old..
20. i know this has possibly been posted before but i never tire of this guys playing. wonderful single coil Lakland sound in the particular vid.... i love this guys playing on tony tony tone's live stuff.. next to rapheal saddiq and with white snake... one of the best bass players in the buisiness... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Or8M3C6GuCs
21.
It's great to see a musician obviously getting a great deal of passion out of playing an instrument but at the same time really delivering a superb performance. Doesn't matter what age or ability, I get inspired watching a musician lost in their moment. It reminds me why after nearly 25 years, I've never put the bass down.
i couldnt have said it better myself Dood..
22. im sure most have seen this fantastic bit of bass playing... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHdN_O5k3WM
23. i dont want to be the BC police but ..... quote.. This has all the top quality hardware that you come to expect from a top class Fender - not to be confused with some of the American Fender basses that are built down to a budget. is this not what your selling dude.. love to see pics though
24. i just got a cup of tea to sit down and watch this... yep hes still the master... his groove and taste overtakes everything.... imo. i bet you 1 pound that sharay reed looked up to Pino.. its only a pound..
