3. you definately got some soul Oli. my sister has this album. good call dude.
4. what is outclassed JTUK.? there is no better, there is just opinion.
5. im a jazz man in its many guises. but i love playing a stingray. so much punch with that lovely tone.. very comfortable instrument in so many ways.
6. im sure people are just saying what there favorite bass is. ok ive done this. but after playing an XJ series Xotic 4 i really think you couldnt need anything more tone wise.light weight, fantastic erganomics, there a revelation preamp wise. might not be to everyones taste is the jazz bass shape.
7. i went to Uni in Bournemouth, lots of live music from what i can remember. google it, there is loads believe me. usually the smaller clubs/pubs. lots of sh*t clubs aswell, with there share of twats.. 7 days a week, there is always something on. have a good one
8. there are some really good suggestions here about ampflication. like wireless amplification on your hip.. but electric bass wise, i very much doubt there is any more you can do to a bass guitar to make it any better, there are guys making basses at the pinnacle of instrument making. yeah there are string through bodies, high mass bridges, headless basses, .. dont get me wrong, there all cool in my book but it always seems like over kill to me. i like a good preamp, but a preamp can really make a difference in your sound. a string through body wont. neither will a headless bass. i can understand the zero fret, and i can understand PLEKing, but these are all minor tweeks to the wheel. instrument making only really needs a certain amount of perfection. the innovation or music, comes from the artist in his or her music. how many times can you innovate the wheel, to drive it, how many times can you innovate a bass guitar, its a sum of its parts. dont get me wrong i love talkin bass, but it gets a bit neardy sometimes.
9. i restrict myself musically sometimes, im not really into the beatles, but some of his basslines were killer
10. I have a 2 weeks off so have been playing alot of bass. while practicing, i thought to myself, what was the first bass line you ever learned properly. for me Incognito's Hold on to Me, was one of my first favorite Incognito songs to play, and the first bass line with changes i ever learned. was 15 ish years ago and at the time, it took me ages to understand the chords behind it. apart from having that bassline locked down, it really was worth taking the time to understand the music behind it. i was rehearsing at a studio one time in the last few years, and i played that first lick. everyone said, " hey thats Incognito". i was with the right guys. a boring story short what was yours, that you really learned properly. 11. i think the thread has worn its self out somewhat.
12. oh dear there really are some sheltered bass players on this forum.
13. i dont give a monkeys how well they do or how much money they make. cant think of any memorable winner or music. some people are pretty good.. the problem is within the production behind these winners. its bloody awful throw away music. i dont think its much to ask, to have decent music on TV.. ever wondered why knowone plays a musical instrument on the X Factor. its all about making as much money as possible. there not bothered about the quality of the music. why would Simon Cowell give a sh*t about the integrity of what hes putting out. hes not a musician.
14. i personally think the X Factor is a bad influence on kids, that might of heard better music. but then again i was into shakin stevens when i was younger, and i ended up being passionate about Stevie Wonder. good or bad its up to the individual i guess.. i cant help but think i wanted to be brought up with Stevie all the time though
15. you know the half of Petes thread was meant for groove.???? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDcIPLq_Hss&list=FLzVUqeF1SLjxa78y2gd03dQ&index=658

20.
Extended version:
awsome RoRi..
21. try out the Fender Select series jazz basses. they are awsome. basically its a 60's pickup spacing jazz bass with a preamp. im very fussy with my preamps, and i tell you Fender have this down. sounds like a cross between a 60's and a 70's jazz bass. which is a very good thing imo. but they are not cheap. 23.
You never have anything nice to say. You really are a miserable bar steward. I bet you don't even respond to this post..........
im with Pwte on this one. its really awful. nothing at all to do with music.
24.
Highly unusual to see you lusting after a boutique jazz Andrew! They look very nice.
Yes its very out of character, but i really want to try something different.
